Grabbing an o board seems like a challenge like last year also so far i hope i get that down before i go online when it drops. I had alot of missed rebounds with nobody blocking me out and the player jumped horrible and let a center snatch it.

Better than last year. COntrols are better, but not as good as hyped up to be. Passing was ok. Players look sharp and colorful, but a bit on the "goofy" side not much, but let´s call it slanted to the artistic side. They look like themselfs , but a bit to the "artistic" side.
Sound when hitting the rim is awful, sounds way to sharp and like a slot machine.
The camera guys are looping in the same manner, in sync, doesn´t look good.
Shots were ok, hitting the 3 is easy. Stealing the ball was way easy.
More soon, overall good demo, but nothing that says "best b-ball" ever.Comment

Re: NBA Live 10 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (360)
Played a few games this morning. Impressions from a NBA2K fan:
I didn't have the "I saw Jesus" moment some have hinted at, but thought it played nicely (I only played the Live demo last year; thought it was decent). The biggest thing that stood out to me was the playsets, and [I assume] the DNA. The teams seemed to run through their plays and position themselves as they would in real life - very different from NBA2K9 and even the Live demo from what I remember last year; it was pretty cool. I think nothing beats the 2K shot stick in terms of how natural it feels to shoot the ball, but the 1-button scheme they have in Live10 is very good - much better than last year for sure. The stars seemed to stand out and play/move as I'd expect them to for the most part; that was nice.
For all the talk on how great the footplanting is, I really thought the basic movement felt kinda... floaty. And mostly weightless. Physics overall (man on man, or ball physics) still seemed kinda off to me - much better than last year for sure, but still seemed like guys were jumping/moving in unnatural ways or the ball would bounce/not bounce naturally. Not much contact or physicality overall in terms of player interaction. It wasn't horrible, just something I noticed. I didn't see any players dunk that shouldn't, but big men movement seemed a little overly athletic on dunks and rebounds. Didn't feel like I had much control because of the movement and how the ball bounces didn't always feel completely natural (to me). Some of that could be contributed to unfamiliarity w/the controls though.
Presentation was meh. Didn't really feel like I was in a 20k arena. Graphics are nice but nothing spectacular imo. Crowd sounds were decent, but nothing really stood out. In between quarter highlights were bland. I think they seem to have done a good job with the player celebrations, and some of the idle animations in general. One time I was playing as Kobe and left my man unguarded in the corner, and Kobe sort of pointed to him. Saw lots of little animations like that. Some of the player celebrations after a made basket or facial animations seem nicely done - didn't see any multiple player interaction though. The little bunny hop after a made basket is overdone (already pointed out).
Just some quick thoughts on the demo. I didn't have an epiphany that would make me say I need two games, but thought the demo was nice and that the game will play nicely. I really like the playsets, not so hot on the non-physical feel of the gameplayHBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

Re: NBA Live 10 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (360)
Overall, I just feel like the game is improved enough where a sim head can deal with any short comings this year. There seems to be enough player differentiation where I can play the game year round.
It's still early... but that's the feeling I'm getting.
I absolutely love Gasol. He doesn't jump on his shot much, and has an overall different feel from Bynum and Howard.

Re: NBA Live 10 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (360)
Game is playing great for me my biggest issue is the dribbling. Its more of me just trying to get used to moving on the court and also the camera. I can't stand the broadcast cam and I wish there was an option to change it.
Since this game requires so much precision movement I really need a baseline cam. Its throwing my game off so much my passing is also suffering because of it also.
Overall though I'm having a lot of fun with this game. I can't wait until I can actually finish a game Lol.
I've had some nice battle and I wish I could finish them.Comment

Love the dribble control. I wish 2k had the same kind of feel dribbling wise. Love the off ball move ment and spacing (another gripe I have with 2k). But I really don't like the rebounding or defense. This game is a vast improvement from last year. I agree with those who say the demo feels much better in the hanger than a real game. I give the dev team a ton of credit for the improvements. I think this is the game live fans have been waiting for though I don't feel it will convert many 2k fans.Does a cheetah stretch before it chases its prey?

Re: NBA Live 10 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (360)
Can someone answer this for me..
Why is it that when I play the game as player lock on, no one else on my team does anything..? If I don't force my teammates to shoot, they will get a shot clock violation every freaking time. Also, they don't pass the ball at all, unless I ask them for the ball.Comment

This is not the Live we us to play and agonize over. I've only played a few games so far [all-star] and I have to say right out the gate what does it for me is the control you have, i mean it's unlike anything i've experienced in a basketball game. The thing thats so amazing is I'm saying this not having all the moves down yet. It's just a clean scheme and ultra smooth. There's no hype here this is the real deal sim lover..... LIVE IS BACK!!!!Comment

Re: NBA Live 10 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (360)
I got to get ready to head to class but here's my first impression...
(Keep in mind I still don't have the controls down, I'm still used to 2k)
The bad first-
The game needs some polish, but I think that's to be expected when something has a major overhaul. Guys on D (at least my teammates) don't seem as..."enthusiastic" about sticking their guys as much as I do (even when you change settings in the lineup screen).
Loose Balls - It seems like when a guy gets the ball swiped from him, his whole team falls into a trance for about 1 second and gives the other team a headstart at trying to scramble for the ball. And I just saw a rebound fall 5 feet from Dwight Howard (he was the closest person to the ball) and he just stood there and looked at it...
Steals - There's TOO MUCH stealing going on under the hole. I should be able to dribble with derek fisher through big guys under the hole and not get ripped. I appreciate that you addressed this, but I think it was a little overdone.
Passing - I think the passing is a little weird at times - sometimes they deflect a ball that's almost out of their reach, and others the ball can go under a defender's armpit and still be successfully caught.
AI - I've seen on several occasions the AI just run stupid plays - Derek fisher just standing at the top of the 3pt line for the whole shot clock. Or if they have a path to the hole, but a big man is guarding it, they ALWAYS drive then do a shot where they adjust in midair once they get to the defender. Why not shoot a regular jumper or do a tear drop instead.
The Good-
Player Control - The player control is awesome. I just need to get used to this view so I can use it better. I'm still trying to learn the post up moves, but I've seen enough to know there's a decent amount there to work with.
Plays - The amount you give us to work with is insane, and the help indicators are a big plus.
Off Ball Movement - The team seems "alive" when you play, even if you dont' call anything. That's a major plus for me...
Speed/Locomotion - Never have I seen in this generation Basketball game player speed so well done. If the slightest lane opens up for #24, it's 0-60 in .8 seconds for Mr. Bryant.
Presentation - Speaks for itself.
A few issues -
1) Using the right stick in triple threat, nobody does the protect the ball move
2) With certain players (like D Wade), when I'm trying to do a Momentum jumper, they instead do this carry-fake crossover, then shoot. I know different players have different moves but that's nowhere near what I'm trying to do.
3) Is it possible to make the right stick relative to the camera angle?Last edited by iLLosophy; 09-11-2009, 11:24 AM.Comment

Re: NBA Live 10 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (360)
After playing the demo for a few hours I must say that EA is heading in the right direction with their basketball franchise.
+ I truly enjoyed the dynamic feel of the inputs when it came to dribbling the rock. Especially when I was able to chain moves together with precision.
+ The team interaction with each other is one of the most beautiful things I have seen in a videogame. (When I played as the Magic and V.C. was taking care of business for me, it seemed as though Kobe got p.o. because V.C. was stilling his shine and Kobe began to force the action.)
+ The off-ball movement was very intuitive when I bumbled my play call precision. They moved to spaces to help me not blow the posession and get into correct spacing to make good shots.
+ DNA, DNA, DNA! By understanding the game of a player it truly helped me understand what I could do and what would get me burned. (Don't sleep on D. Fish by trying to stop Kobe or you will get punished from deep)
Now my Negatives:
- Rebounding and boxing out is a major flaw that I see in this game. There should be know reason that if I have position to grab the rebound that the ball should be hitting the floor and players just looking at the ball with no urgency to get it. I mean it is like the players are locked into position with no where to go and the PG comes from top of the key to get the ball
- It seems at times that players do not know where the ball is on Defense and do not turn properly to stop the player from going where he wants to go. I do not know if that is because it is a demo or a glitch that I may be getting. However it happens a little to frequent.
- I still see warp dunks happening all the time. It is though there is no way to stop the warp from the Superstars when they want to dunk on you. I can literally get D. Howard to dunk on every transition if I pass the ball to him on the elbow and hit turbo+shoot. It is unstoppable.
I am going to play some more and see how much more fun I can have, but I must admit even with the minor flaws this game is fun as H***! Give them one more season to work out the minor bugs and Basketball gaming will be the best sports genre in gaming. Kudos to Mike and Steph for bringing my nostalgia back since I first played Lakers v Celtics on a PC.
