I liked the 2nd period much better.

Re: NHL 2K10 Gameplay Video (2KHockey.net)
FYI and something I discovered while editing NHL 08 and 09. The CPU seldoms dumps in that game as well, but is much more inclined to do so if their ratings are lowered. Too many players have high default speed ratings and are therefore able to skate unmolested into the opposition's zone. So that's what the AI has them do. But when those ratings are lowered 15-20 points (to where they belong, ahem), the AI seems to change things up and have those slower players dump the puck. I guess the programming determines they're not fast enough to skate around in the opposition's end without getting checked.Comment

Re: NHL 2K10 Gameplay Video (2KHockey.net)
How anyone says this is better than NHL 10 is beyond my comprehension.
Arcadey as hell and what the hell was WWTC thinking??? 2 empty net goals against???
Man. Pretty sure I just went from a later purchase to no purchase at all.
The puck suctions to goalies HORRIBLY...the puck physics in general don't come CLOSE to NHL 10.

Re: NHL 2K10 Gameplay Video (2KHockey.net)
Another good looking video. I'm so glad that my main issue with game play seems to be fixed and that's the cpu defensemen. They all look to be in pretty good position and not playing catch up all the time like 2k9. The animations are the best to date in any game I have seen. Like seeing the ref flatten himself against the boards to get out of the way. Puck movement is very nice and the CPU seems super aggressive. Very well done.
Also liked seeing the flyers shoot it off the boards. What a thing of beauty watching them cycle the puck before getting a shot off. The more I see, the more I like.Last edited by Eddie1967; 09-04-2009, 04:19 PM.Originally posted by jim416You are the 2k Police. :)Comment

Re: NHL 2K10 Gameplay Video (2KHockey.net)
I was really hoping, like everyone else, to get my hands on with this with a demo release. Second to that, some gameplay videos with "sim sliders" are probably the best thing we could get.
I'll be 100% honest. There are some little things I liked about 2K9, but overall I felt it was a pretty terrible game. This, to me, just looks a lot like 2K9 with better player models, textures, etc.
I can't sit here and ignore all that they've done to the graphical engine. 2K9 looked like a PS2 game, and 2K10 has made great strides in the graphical dept.
Looking forward to reviews on this, and I'll probably rent it eventually, but NHL10's already got my money (and my time) so I'll probably end up passing this year. Oh well.Comment

Re: NHL 2K10 Gameplay Video (2KHockey.net)
I'm lost... Not in a good way or a bad way.... I don't know what to think yet.. There is alot of good and alot of bad IMO... I think we will be able to fix alot of it with sliders.. Animations are great... Before faceoffs players are battling already.. Someone said of the refs that they turn against the board to get out of the way... It gives the appearance that it is a hockey game... I can't put my finger on it though.. The puck freezes not even within a second for the computer goalie.. He makes a save and not even 1 second goes by and it's frozen.. I am not seeing boardplay... How people think these are amazing puck physics is beyond me.. The puck never bounces off the goalie for a rebound chance. When a player turns to pass the puck it just looks horrid... As for the atmosphere it looks great but I wanna hear the game on my tv in surround sound to tell.. Thats why a demo would be great... Mixed bag for me...Good and badComment

Pin ball Puck arcade action tape to tape passing no pinning or board play the whole game. There something about the way the players make little movments and the way they turn that just seems way to fast for me. I just don't like the flow of the game hard to explain.Comment

Re: NHL 2K10 Gameplay Video (2KHockey.net)
Thats exactly what I think as well. Just doesn't flow on the quick movements.. Because the way the players look when they skate in open ice and kinda do a slow turn looks great.. Looks like they are skating on ice... But when they are bunched up and the puck handler and defender look like they can do a figure skating spin... then I have seen shots and passes with your back against the defender and the puck handler spins around at 189 MPH and gets a shot off that was like a defensmen slapshot...Comment

Re: NHL 2K10 Gameplay Video (2KHockey.net)
Just got done watching the third period...I have some concerns about the CPU AI in the game, especially since this was played on sim settings. The CPU frequently will enter the zone and skate right at the defenseman rather than skate to the outside or better yet dump the puck deep into the zone. While the CPU did score some goals, they only had 20 shots which isn't a heckuva lot. The CPU AI seems to pass at really weird times...there were many instances where they made a pass back to the blueline when there was a clear lane to the net.
Players at times looks like they are on a swivel with the quick 360 degree rotation...looks odd especially since the puck is somehow magnetically attached to the stick.
As already mentioned, passing is way too accurate. The CPU completed 92% of their passes. I guess I expected more sim-style gameplay out of WWTC as he has always been a hardcore hockey guy.
Oh well...hopefully sliders can help some of this. Graphically it looks great, and the checking animations are phenomenal. I am really digging the overlays in the game too."And by the way, you know, when you're telling these little stories? Here's a good idea - have a POINT. It makes it SO much more interesting for the listener!"Comment

Re: NHL 2K10 Gameplay Video (2KHockey.net)
In 2K, they dont have final minute in real time, so like pulling the goalie in the last minute of EA, its the same as pulling it with 2 mins left in 2k. Just an explanationComment
