not to be personal, but can you translate this back to English so i can know wtf you're talking about?

So far, the only thing I get is that you're a teacher and don't really have any inside knowledge on being a commentator.

I do agree about the arenas looking outstanding...I think there is ALOT of improvement on the players faces and art of jerseys which in 2k9... they were "lacking" for loss of a better word... the Ovi stumble shot is SICK!!!

I don't see where this "experience" has anything to do with it. Drew and Randy have been broadcasting together for 10 years, and their job as broadcasters is to convey the action for those that aren't there. They do it with good info and enthusiasm so to keep the viewers from changing the channel. There is no reason why they can't show the same enthusiam with their script for the 2k commentary....it would certainly liven up the presentation of the game.

This is their second year doing it, so it should sound better. Thorne and Clement are able to show enthusiasm while doing their lines...why not Drew and Randy? And if they can't do it, maybe get someone from Versus, HNIC, or NBC that can?

I'd say the skill stick has a lot more difficulty and experience required than 2k8 had.

            IMO.
The difference for me was that the skillstick was FUN to learn while 2K8's were not.
I admit I'm slow as it took me a good 20 games to really feel 100% comfortable with NHL07.
That said, I loved every minute of it. I never once felt frustrated.
And the controls were very intuitive and felt natural.

2K8's controls put a lot of options and power in the users hand, but they were far more cumbersome and not nearly as fun.
I still cringe when I think of how I'd have to press 2 buttons to skate fast.

That being said, I like the sounds of 2K10's control scheme. I'm very interested to see how responsive the stickhandling is and how these new contextual dekes will be.

Yep, twice now IGN has butchered the gameplay for this years hockey games. This is why the developers have to play a much bigger part in the marketing of their game. Like Littman and co. are doing and like what 2K started yesterday. The gamesites are a joke anymore.

I still don't think the videos like that are a total waste...you still get to see how the non-human controlled AI operates.

Kind of, there was alot of human vs human in the IGN vids. The Gamespot video on the other hand was nice and gave me a much better idea of how the AI reacts this year. They aren't a total waste, but as I said, I would much rather get it from the devs.

I don't, I acted a little in my teens. And when you read lines you have to read them like you aren't reading lines. Same for video games. It is all the same. You can disagree with me that is fine, but it is still in my opinion. Plus I have a Degree in public speaking. So delivering lines for me is easy, but someone that has not done it so much like Randy and Drew it takes time. Clem and Thorne have had a lot of experience in doing this.

It is not the fact that they have not done commentary in real games before.. It is the reading of lines that get you. When they do it for real they don't read a script, they Ad-Lib. So yes it does make a difference. Thorne and Clement have had a lot of experience in reading lines, so they are more comfortable doing it. Randy and Drew have done it twice now. I think they will be better this year, but I don't think it will be much better. Try acting. It is actually a lot harder than it looks. Reading lines and trying to make it looks like you aren't is not easy. And yes I was in big play productions as a kid and a teen in San Francisco. And it is not easy.

Then why didn't 2K hire a commentary team that's capable of doing a professional job? I don't get the logic here. You appear to be making the argument that they need more experience, when the problem is they shouldn't have been hired in the first place given their inexperience and lack of ability.

You can make a argument for that. I don't know why. I think you have to hire people that are cheap and have potential. So I think you need to go relax and have a beer. I still like you Baa.

thanks for the info captain obvious So what you're saying is that 2k hired commentators that aren't really good at what they were hired for. Got it, but i think we all knew that already. Thanks!

So why ask the question? lol Oh well. For being in your mid 30's you.....never mind! If you already knew that why ask. So Captain Obvious comes to your rescue again! The reason they hire them is they are good announcers, but reading lines are not their strengths, yet. But who are good at it at first? Maybe Collinsworth, but he Ad-Lib a lot. Even Thorne and Cle had years of practice.

Thorne and clement pretty much nailed it first time i thought. If 2k5 was the first time that is.
