Re: NBA 2K10: Exclusive First Look (Gamespot)

Yeah I do not like Clark Kellog's voice at all for this game. His voice does not resonate "NBA" when I hear it. But Gamespot says its much improved so I'm hopeful the commentary will be great.

I think the one thing I truly want out of this year is for them to really bring up the PRESENTATION. We need individual crowd chants for every arena. What's so hard about that? Things like DEEEETROOOOIIT BASKETBALL they have done, but not for other arenas. The Miami Heat got especially snuffed last year with NO MASCOT (WHERE THE **** IS BURNIE?) and no crowd chanting. Other teams have chants like "Lets Go Hornets Clap Clap Clap Clap Clap" The Miami Heat is straight up "LETS GO HEAT! LETS GO HEAT!" Why can't they capture that crowd audio? It makes the game so much more immersive. NBA Live is doing playoff crowds this year, with the fans wearing colors and stuff, I hope 2k does that also.

Also, they need to license some normal music to be played inside the arenas. The cool indie music is cool for the menus, but those songs would never be played at a real game. They need songs like Dropkick Murphy "Shippin up to Boston" for the Celtics fight song, Guns N Roses "Welcome to the Jungle" etc. Things that you would normally hear during a timeout. These little details go a long way toward creating a realistic experience.

And when the players are coming out with 15 seconds left in the 4th, down by 1....the announcer should really rile up the crowd with "STAND UP AND MAKE SOME NOISE" that goes into a crowd chant. As a Miami Heat fan, this is the ultimate example of what I want to be emulated. (They can have the PA announcer mimick this)

      ... oh thanks Kaptn
and what do you mean why .. lmao?
he was last year's league MVP and his team had the best record in the NBA .. and plus in 2k9 his player model was mediocre .. and if they really are going to accurately portray body sizes .. then LeBron and Dwight better be tanks .. of course .. proportiionally sized tanks .. lmao

Now about the D-League- the article says there are the real teams and jerseys, but are the players in there?

I think D League implementation is a great idea. If it's also possible to split the MLE, and also use the LLE I'll be thrilled.

I also think the faces are a lot smoother. Derek Fisher and Jermaine O'Neal (in the corner getting dunked on by Shaq) stood out to me.

I can't wait for the D-League. I'm hoping they are playable just in regular games, or even online games. Scrub battles would be awesome!

But D-League will be a great addition to the My Player mode, it'd be fun to play in the D-League for a year and then get called up onto an NBA roster. It'd be fun to go from the bottom to the top in the game.

If it's in Association mode as well (it better be), then it'd add a whole new dimension to the game. Not only would you have to scout all the rookie prospects, but you could also scout and follow the D-League players to try and find the next Jamario Moon. And this would hopefully give you a way to develop your young players who don't get any playing time. I'm hoping that you'll be able to play the D-League games in your Association. D-League will be a huge addition as long as it's done right.
(Example, say your the Celtics and have Giddens on a D-League team, I'd want to play Giddens games as well as my Celtics games)

Re: NBA 2K10: Exclusive First Look (Gamespot)

Anyone else notice a severe increase in silly posts/posters?

On topic: The changes sound good. But like all first impressions, they are meant to catch the attention in a positive way. It isn't until about the 2 hour mark with the game in your hands that you can really evaluate it. Given that the GameSpot writer had just seen the game yesterday (sounds like he didn't get much time to play it, if at all), I'm going to hold off on his positive comments on the commentary improvements.

Tendencies are only as beneficial as the method in which they are implemented. Some attributes are just hard to measure numerically and efficiently convert to an output in a videogame. I pray to god they give the 2K Insider a lesser job like rating the D-Leaguers.

Court spacing is an issue every year, and every year they claim to have fixed it. I like what I'm hearing so far, but I want to see it in action before I lay judgment on that.

By far the best news for me though has to be the ability to create your own Draft Class for import in Association Mode. Every year I make a batch of friends and myself, all the same overall rating and potential, and see how our careers go from the draft (had to do fantasy). Now I can do it right.

Overall, things sound good. But don't they always?

The amount of silly / fanboy-esque type posts increases every year around this time. When Madden gets ready to launch and any news of NBA Live and NBA2k starts coming through the wire.

Also, player likeness is much better than LIve´s . Although menues are more sharp on live.

im dissapointed in the news. i was hoping to get by playing 2k9 this year, but now it looks like im going to HAVE to buy 2k10. too many improvements and additions to pass it up! i think the best improvement is the draft class creating. my biggest beef with 2k9 has been the lame draft classes. now with that fixed, i should be able to pick up 2k10 and play that for 2-3 years before needed an upgrade.

Looks to be shaping up well. There seems to be genuine competition this season...and I'm sure both companies producers are taking it personally as to who finishes on top come release time.

That simply means we...the guys who buy the games...win
