Terrific-looking screenshot. I honestly didn't think they would get the consumer memo (Do they ever?) to ditch the putrid goaltender player models from last year. But this gives me much hope and makes my Canadian hockey heart go pitty-pat!

I'm also hoping the deking is more skill stick controled and less of the button combo dial a dekes they've had the last couple years. At any rate the game at least in that one shot models wise is looking better, heres to hoping it plays better than 2k9. Looking forward to the additional info Wensday.
But that pic looks great! Can't wait to hear more on Wednesday.Comment

Regardless, the player models definitely look a LOT better."And by the way, you know, when you're telling these little stories? Here's a good idea - have a POINT. It makes it SO much more interesting for the listener!"Comment

Just wanted to say that it is refreshing to see that you are totally unbiased even if you went to the NHL 10 community event unlike most of the people that end up going to community events. I respect that totally.
Hat's off to you sirComment

And you know Texans love hockey although when they pick up a hockey stick for the first time, they hold it by the blade and swing the shaft around in the air. (True story about two guys I introduced to the sport.)Last edited by baa7; 07-21-2009, 08:32 AM.Comment

Re: NHL 2K10 Hi Res Screenshot
I buy both games every year, and played the 2k series exclusively from 2k3 to 2k7 (with the exception of NHL 2004 on the PC). Both games have their strong points, and neither would be where they are today without the influence of the other title.
The more solid hockey titles available the better!"And by the way, you know, when you're telling these little stories? Here's a good idea - have a POINT. It makes it SO much more interesting for the listener!"Comment

It's near impossible to get to happen even if you try. It'll be a "WTF HOLY ****" moment for anyone who gets it, and of those that do get it, who knows if the puck will even go on net, or be flubbed. It will really make you appreciate how special the real life goal actually was (lucky or not, it was special, you cannot deny that).Comment

A producer at 2khockey.net stated that you'll see this happen very rarely and only by superstars:

Re: NHL 2K10 Hi Res Screenshot
I think the screenshot looks pretty good. The skater models have a nice realistic look to them, reminds me a little of the smooth models from NFL 2K5.
Goaltenders don't look amazing, but they look really good IMO, and much, much better than they ever have in the 2K series. I think EA's goalie models look great, but they are pretty bulky and chunky. The 2K10 goalie model looks slimmer and more realistic, but looks a little too much like a forward with pads on.
The arenas will most likely be great, as other than some oddities like the boards being 50 ft away from the first row in Philly and others, the arenas were the best ever in a hockey videogame in 2K9.
Ovechkin looks like he's performing one of the stumble shot animations. This animation though is specific to Ovechkin probably, and WWTC basically alluded to the fact that you will rarely see it. I think its more of a right place on the ice, tripped at the right time while trying to shoot sort of animation, not something that is triggered.
You can only take so much from one screenshot, but I remain really high on this year's game. For my money, I think the graphics are more realistic than EAs (that's not to say they are better, I just find EA's a bit cartooney).
Have to give a shout to the accuracy of Bryzgalov's pads. They are spot on.Comment

The jury is still out on player faces at least til we get more screens or a video showing the game in motion. 2k9's player faces for the most part were just well, bad to put it nicely. Hoping that got some attention this year.
I hope thats a specific stumble animation, that I'd be fine with, if every player in the game can attempt that sort of thing though I'd be disappointed.Comment

Re: NHL 2K10 Hi Res Screenshot
Its one of those which visual style more appeals to you situations I think. Personally I like EA's goalies and models on the whole really a tad more. The're generally better detailed and look to have higher poly counts. With the size of the goalie equipment these days tenders tend to look that big and bulky more often than not. Not to say it looks bad in 2k's game, its easy to see the models look better, I think it comes down to visual appeal really.
