Re: Rumor: 2K Sports Prepping NBA 2K10: Draft Combine For XBLA/PSN (Joystiq)

Trust me, I'm one of those people that HATES to get nickeled and dimed. This, on the surface could be just that. However, there are just so many questions:

    1. How much is it going to cost? Will it be $5? If it's cheap enough, I'd consider it.
    2. When will it come out? Is it before or after 2k10? 2 weeks? a month? Who here would not pay a couple of bucks to play a version of the game before the big one hits?
    3. Is it something that adds to 2K10 or totally separate that SHOULD be in 2k10? If I chose to NOT get this, will I get boned? If they are FORCING me to buy something to get the total package, I'm not happy. (EA's Head Coach anyone?)
    4. We're all cool with buying DLC that comes after? Isn't this the same, but before or with the release of 2K10? It's be stupid to not release it before btw.
    5. One "feature" of Madden 10 that I'm drooling over is the online franchise on my iphone. I sure as hell would bet it's not free, but I'm pretty stoked about it. Can this be considered in the same vein? A supplemental piece of software that isn't NEEDED, but adds to the value of the main game.

I don't know. We'll just wait and see what happens. Too bad this had to come out as an unfounded rumor though. There are just too many questions...

Didn't they charge for reel maker a few years ago?

If this is indeed true, this falls imo along the same line as NBA Live charging for their DNA feature if you didn't buy the retail (which was a brilliant move on their part). No it may not be necessary to purchase it, but it could enhance your experience when playing the game. Its on you, as the customer if you want to get it or not.
This is a great point actually. Ultimately, we can buy it or not. I would bet that if it's a good price and comes out before the official release, some people will be willing to do it. Again, we will see. Whether it's true or if it's worth it.

im surprised u franchise freaks arent thrilled about this but whatever.

some people are very closed minded and only look at the dollar sign

just ask yourself one question. whats missing from 2k sports besides football? NCAA 2k basketball

NCAA which is pretty a COMBINE for the NBA and i know most of u bought both NCAA 2k and NBA 2k games(whats the difference?). 2k is giving people a chance to draft rookies, train them, and whatever else. maybe they have something plan for 2k10 association. just open your thoughts and you may INNOVATION instead of $$$$
Madden and NCAA looks nothing more than COSMETIC UPGRADES.

this is pretty much what I thought. if it's anything, it's a rookie editor that allows you to customize and test out each rookie pool and then add them to the game. who knows how robust it is, but I'm positive it's not just a bunch of training drills.

Honestly, I wouldn't buy this, and I wouldn't even use it if it's built into the game, because it doesn't make sense. In a Franchise mode, you are GM/Coach/Owner of a team and trying to make that team better. How does it make sense to then play as potential draftees and try to make them better before they get drafted? There's not even a guarantee they will be drafted onto your team. I can understand bringing in rookies for workouts and scouting, but only for that purpose and not to actually improve their ratings.

i think this is a great idea, Why? BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY IT SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As for me I will purchase it to support 2k because their NBA series is awesome. I know some of us over the years have payed for downloadable content for madden jersey and the game was HORRIBLE!!! Please 2k do your thing!!!

sounds like the developers are too lazy to fix the draft classes themselves, so theyre having us pay to do the work ourselves?

im also surprised that more people havent expressed concern over how this will just contribute to the problem of rookies being rated too high/players progressing too fast. a lot of people dont use development in 2k9 because they feel it causes players to cheaply progress. seems to me this would be exactly the same thing.

they need to just fix the draft classes. allowing us to micromanage the incoming players training really detracts from the realism. an NBA coach or GM has no control over an incoming players abilities. all they can do is scout what is given to them. they cant decide on what is given to them. personally, if this rumor IS true (which i kind of doubt), i would never consider using it, even if its free.

                          I'm interested in hearing more...

$5-$10 range and I'm thinking I'll pull the trigger if it's decent.

I don't know really. If the only improvement we have gotten to the draft process in the past five years is through dlc, I wouldn't be too happy about it as a diehard Association guy.

I don't agree with comparing this dlc to 365 because if you got the game new, 365 came with it. If this rumour is true, the only way to get this mode is by paying extra.

At least 2K has some time to clear this up.
