    Re: IGN 2k9 Hands On

well it looks like I will be buying it on day one. Let's hope the framerate issue is sorted out soon because this is starting to at least sound like a promising game! Can't wait for some vids and a demo

Huh? No it wasn't. Maybe when you guessed the pitch, there was a flash of color, but I took from the article that this is more like MVP's "Batter's Eye," and that you can read every pitch. I absolutely loved that feature in the MVP series.

I'm pumped about that preview. Also, I think the "third step" for the pitching just means you can make it so it's exactly like last year's 3-step process. Awesome.
Of course, if Dawson gets hot, and
        Sutcliffe comes through, and....
Pa, see what you did to me?

That's how I interpreted the pitch type color.. of course I didn't play 2k8 but a few games.

I agree. I thought last years 3-step process was great, so I'm glad it's still going to be an option, and hopefully with a better looking meter.

Plus as the game go on and pitchers tire and or they get rattled the pitching gets harder. Seems fine to me. That plus cursor+swing stick etc.. has me a tad more excited that a few days ago. Just fix the frame rate issue! Despite The Show being my #1 game, I love baseball and will support 2K if they improve and give an honest effort.

Plus there are probably difficulty sliders to make the pitching even more of a challenge.

I am not worried about the frammrate, they didnt have a fully working 90% build so who knows because he said he would report back when IGN gets a working copy. The game mode best of the best was not working bug crash everytime so it wasnt working. I have heard no gripes on the gameplay no complaints just improvements and people open to their innovations. Sounds like pitch difficulty and step will have to be turned on. I dont like the whole hold down and swing whenever deal, thats allow scrubs to hang with the pack.

Every year the previews hope the framerate gets cleaned up...

                      Just saying.

Well, thankfully we're aren't dealing with Kush again this year, so this year certainly has more potential for the framerate and the whole game in general.

I thought the framerate in the demo was terrible. (I only played the demo on 360)

ok so after reading both of the impressions I don't see how their could be anything for anyone to complain about with the exception of two things.

the framerate hasn't been adressed yet and no one has been able to test the online to see if thats been fixed.

every other worry or complaint people have had has been adressed either as a default or an option(third step for pitching)

the framerate is a dealbreaking problem if they don't get it fixed but other than that very very very excited about what we could be getting this year

                                Re: IGN 2k9 Hands On

Well, this was a mostly useless interview for me...lol. The only two things I gained from it were that:

1: the 2K8 pitching system is there for those who like it (though my concern is they didn't polish it as it wasn't their focus...hope I'm wrong though)

2: the presence of what seems like a version of "batter's eye" from MVP (which I liked in theory, but didn't like the extra "indicators"...it was a solid system though and I suppose actually trying to guess the pitch off of animation is still a few years away).

It really seems as though they've geared this game, at least at default, to the more casual "pick up and play" type player. This is fine, as long as the sliders function well. Plus, we can seemingly make the mechanics more demanding, which is good.

The fact that the reviewer thought it was good that he was able to start jacking balls out and setting guys down after a short while due to the control changes is a bit frustrating...lol. That's what you seem to get from Gamespot and IGN, unfortunately.

The framerate....well, we'll see. I'd like to think that with it being VC and with all the gripes about it last year, the issue wouldn't repeat. We'll just have to wait and see.
