Re: NBA 2K9 Video: Association Part 1
THANK YOU 2K!!! And Steve for posting the vid.
Even if you can't edit the faces of prospects, that feature is a huge addition for me. It's going to be way better than importing from CHoops ever was. Hopefully the prospect database is large enough that we can sift through it and find a close enough face for each real life prospect. It may be a bit more work that way but it'll definitely be worth it for me.
I finally should be able to get into Association mode now. Nothing is worse than when I tried to rebuild the Knicks the last few years and every year the draft would be a disaster, whether they were imported or randomly generated rookies. Derrick Rose getting drafted in the 2nd round and having 81 for quickness and 84 for speed, even after being edited and bumped up in CHoops - terrible.
This will definitely be the first feature I test out when I get the game and hopefully they can change it for the final build where we can edit all aspects of the prospect's face."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: NBA 2K9 Video: Association Part 1
Imagine if you can import and edit prospects....would really help A LOT!!!!
Also, I hope this is an early build bcuz only being able to edit the eye color just doesn't make sense...I know/hope 2k is better than that. I am confident that the final build will allow more.Last edited by kenzil; 09-22-2008, 10:40 PM.O.G. - Original Gamer '87 NES

Just watched the video again and there's no "Import Draft Class" in the menu this year.Comment

Re: NBA 2K9 Video: Association Part 1
as long as generic players look like human beings im fine. if i get extremely picky i may go in there and edit some tendencies or shot styles.. But im ok with having a fantasy world in franchise. I cant control everything. Ill let Jim Brewer become the next Kobe and see him progress. im fine with that.
it does appear we can edit ratings and all that other stuff which sparks some interest. but If I lend myself to editing one guy, I would feel slighted for not doing it with everyoneComment

I just hope they made the generated prospects all look "normal". The blonde hair in the previous versions was ridiculous, as was the red.
I just hate it when I really like a prospect, want to draft him, and he looks like a complete clown.Comment

Wow. I am at a loss. 2k just doesn't seem to get it. I can't even begin to tell you how disappointing it is to learn that we cannot edit appearances. I mean we could always edit rookies ratings (after they were drafted) but most of the communities biggest problems were with the appearances....2k just doesn't get customization (APF and NBA are prime examples).
I wonder if we can create a player in franchise mode? I doubt it......Comment

Re: NBA 2K9 Video: Association Part 1
I would too, thats just it. 2K is putting themselves in this situation by their lack of change with the feature. What they face here is a situation where if they allowed you to edit the rookies faces however you wanted, it wouldn't match the pre-made pic that was created for that rookie... this would look odd because you could take that black rookie in the video and edit his skin color to make him white, yet you will still see that black rookie pic associated with the white rookie whenever they show his player card in menus/during the game.
Problem #2 would come into play if 2K said **** it, every prospect that the user changes automatically gets the black silhouette instead of the pre-made picture... now the problem is that most of the league would then have a black silhouette because I will most certainly want to edit most of the prospects in the game in some fashion weather it be hair/skin/looks for variety purposes.
The solution here would be for 2K to come up with a better way of showing the created players and rookies so that they are represented exactly how they look in the game... the only way to do that is to have the game take a realtime snap shot of out players. NBA Inside Drive did it on XBOX 1, I dont see why they cant do it now.
Lastly this is needed more now than ever before because we dont have a CHoops this year so trying to make accurate draft classes though editing them is very important. Not letting us change the look of the rookies is stupid and has rendered this whole feature useless now.Last edited by stateprop; 09-23-2008, 01:04 PM.Comment

all of you must have missed it, look at "eye color" it has the green "A" button from an xbox controller beside it. it looks like you use the "A" button to switch the face options, instead of scrolling.Comment
