    "My Player" concerns

ok so i heard that we only get to play one year with a team. However, i wanted to know if we will be able to resign another one year contract with that team as many times as we want. I know "My player" is a feature that allows you to build your own player legacy, but i feel like a real legacy is one that lasts. For example, look at Michael Jordan. he was known as a bull almost his whole career. Same goes for Kobe in LA and TD in San Antonio. Now i don't see how realistic it is to only play for one team every year. I wouldn't mind if i got traded or signed with another team, but only after a 5 year run with another team. Just like Shaq in Orlando to LA.

But if we can resign as many times or if there are just legal issues that don't allow this to happen then let me know. I'm just expressing my disappointment in a feature that has more potential.

I think it depends on how you play and if that team decides to offer you another contract. If they keep offering you a contract at the end of the year then you can keep resigning.

I hope you are right because i want to have a long career and be known as a great player for a particular team, not 10 teams.

If you put up the numbers I'm sure your dream will come true.

          I heard you can't get multi-year deals.

No multi-year deals, Chase confirmed in his Q&A.

Nope, only one year deals. Basically you'll just be a free agent after each year and can go decide which team you want to play for, based of the offers you get.

IMO I think it could hurt the mode pretty badly. Part of making it to the NBA is signing the big contract. Them not having multi-year deals completely goes against everything they're saying the mode is.

Okay, so you want the person to be able to play for his favorite team? Maybe you should make the mode have multi-year deals and also be able to request a trade. This is a mode that's suppose to resemble the 'real NBA experience', maybe that person should just wait until their contract is up to try and sign with their favorite team.

I hope they seriously look into changing this for 2k11, although I haven't even played the game, I already know it'd be better with contracts, agents, ect.

And before someone says maybe the NBA didn't allow them to having players demand trades (I might of read this somewhere). Load of BS, in 2k9 the team chemistry feature had players demanding trades if they were unhappy. Should be the same in the My Player mode.

That's exactly what i am saying. I know i am not the only one that wants multi-year deals. And people who don't come on the boards will play it and be like WTF i can't do a long term contract?

Because if the only team they want to play for doesn't offer them a contract, they will be pissed. At some point the players (people) will start to feel like they have very little or no control over their own career. And since it's called "My Player", people are expecting it.

I think the exact opposite will happen as people will feel they have too much control over their careers. The business aspect of the league isn't really being represented.

Yeah i guess you are right. You know what i meant though, it's the whole not being able to have multi-year deals thing. That type of control, the option control is what i will call it.

I think it's bad that they allow us to control all 30 teams this year in Dynasty mode and you can make all sorts of deals. And i'm sure you can do multi-year deals. But when it comes to their Grand feature they can't add that in and allow this? that's bogus man

I wonder if you'll be able to edit your player's contract like you could in years past, my guess is that you won't be able to, but if you are that would really make my day

                            Re: "My Player" concerns

Yeah no multi year contracts is dissapointing. I mean the developers go to all the trouble of making sure we suck at first and forcing us to work hard to be a good player for the sake of realism...but they don't let teams offer me a multi year contract if play a mvp worthy season.

So we're made to the hard work because of realism, but we're not rewarded realisticlly. I'd understand if the first 2 or 3 or 4 or however many contracts were just 1 year until we proved ourselves. Thats realism. But if say 5 years into my career i average 30/8/8 and lead my team to a championship ring surely i should be rewarded with the bargaining power to demand a multiyear contract.

I hope they look at this area as a major thing to improve for next year's game. That when you acheive your goals and get the stats and be a good team player you not only get rewarded with points to improve your skills but with bargaining power to demand a contract that suits you. So that way the players that play well can then choose a short contract if they prefer or a longer contract if they want job security.

i think it is because if you're player signs a multi-year contract with your favorite team, then get traded, the user will be pissed.

or if you get drafted to a team where you are glued to the bench, you can just wait 1 year instead of waiting for your rookie contract to be over.

to easily solve these 2 problems they can add things like trade demands, but then they will have to make it deeper by adding negotiations and other forms of communication with the front office. perhaps even have an agent to speak to, as you can see the deeper you dig into this the more options there can be. for a new mode that might be cutting into too much of the development time.
