Can someone explain losing control of player ?

Last night i was playing in My League with NO against Suns and with 1:20 left i am up 14 points, so both teams have backups in.

- I am controlling Ajinca who is covering Suns 3rd center, and i have gap for offball defense on him

- CPU Suns moves 2 players in corners and other 2 on the right behind perimeter, including their center.

I can see that there are going to leave their PG to drive against my PG so, i wanted to stay on border of the paint with Ajinca, but i could not do that since he started "being sucked in " towards their C who was at perimeter.

It was comical as i was keep pushing controller towards the where i wanted him to be , but he was keep inching in opposite directions, and when he finally got there, Suns PG executed drive while i still couldn't move my center.

I am playing on HoF with Jordan's slider(if it matters)....What gives!??

The game prioritizes CPU dictated animations over player control. Happens on both sides of the court

How many times have you pressed a dribble move, only for your guy to do something else, then try the dribble move you pressed 3 seconds ago in a different context, causing you to get a turnover?

How many times have you tried to get a quick inbound in but the game wants your guy to pound the ball and slowly walk to inbound as he points to a polygon in the crowd (regardless of whatever you press to speed him up)?

How many times have you not been able to control your point guard after a made freethrow for a good 3-4 seconds as he shuffles to the side slowly, or maybe takes a few back peddles? (Answer: Literally 100% of the time)

How many times have you been guarding someone in the post, used RS defense to just keep your hands up without pressing LT, and the game forces you to jump from a pumpfake anyway?

How many times have you tried to jump for a rebound and your player takes a good 1-2 seconds to gather before jumping, ensuring that he won't get the rebound even though he's in perfect position to do so?

I could go on and on. There is so much crap in the game that takes away player control and its embarrassing that they are trying to push this game as a legit esport.

To be honest i was always playing(for years) on Allstar because i couldn't watch CPU cheese., but this year i have moved all the way to HoF just because i couldn't get CPU to be competitive.

Even on HoF i'm seeing CPU not being able to defend at all, 1in-4out appears to be completely OP because it doesn't look that computer can deal with it, for example, and you can average 70+ points in paint in each game.(and this is with Def awareness on 99 and drive/inside shot defense on 100)

As the result , i would jump to big lead and then start seeing stuff like this and it's annoying. I had Greg Monroe drive by T. Evans(and another time Davis) like he doesn't exist , while i was controlling him or at least trying to.
It's mostly dominant in 4th quarter.

Really disappointed with this year, as i had really big expectation from ACE, since i trust Da_Czar

Do you think it's network related or strictly coding within the game since the game is scripted base on the team rating and other stuff?

I get urges to give up 2k17 whenever im being held back by their magical force field on defense.

Its the coding. I don't think lag contributes to some of the stuff I listed like the jumping without pressing anything, or lack of control during inbounding. 2k has this obsession with showing us all the shiny animations they put in the game.

I highly doubt it actually takes 15-20 seconds to load the timeout menu for instance. They just want to show off the players animating during the huddle, and the coach miming play planning. Its all fluff that is annoying after you play the game 3 times let alone 1000, but it impresses reviewers that note the "realism" of the presentation.

The game will still screw you, BUT there are some things you can do to help.

Lower all AI Asissts to 0 in the Controller settings (defensive assist, boxout assist, automatic contest).

Lay of Left Trigger or just know it has consequences... it'll put you into animations that you might not want, so don't press it when you don't want that to happen.

THIS! Listen to that man!

I don't know why it is still "standard" for the settings to have these things put to 50. These settings are taking control from the player, which in many cases, is extremely stupid.
