    **All Trades Discussion Thread**

I am starting this thread mostly for those that want to play only 1 team franchise but are worried that the CPU will do stupid trades. I don't have an opinion here as to whether the trades are fair or not (well of course that is not true but I will try). I also don't know every single prospect out there so I don't know how fair some of the trades are. So here are the trades I have seen through May:

5-12 Rockies trade LF Eric Young Jr., RP Franklin Morales and SP Tyler Matzek to the Cubs for 3B Josh Vitters

5-22 Rays trade SP David Price to the Phillies for RP Chad Durbin, RF Dominic Brown and SP Jarred Cosert

5-24 Giants trade 3B Ryan Rohlinger, SP Zack Wheeler and SP Henry Sosa to the Red Sox for 1B David Ortiz (note: batting .373 with 10 hr and 30 rbi)

If you hate unfair trades restart you franchise. The Rays would NEVER trade Price he is the future of our rotation and would never trade him away. He is a beast and is one of the best young players in MLB

There was a trade in my first year of my franchise where albert pujols was sent to tampa for carlos pena. I ended up getting bored with that franchise anyway and quit it.

I never said I hate unfair trades. In fact, for the most part I don't believe any trade the CPU does is unfair. Some might not make sense, but after 30+ years of watching baseball, I can honestly say that I have seen far worse trades in real life than I have ever seen on this or any baseball game.

Another note I wanted to add: if you are like me and save your franchise after every game and rotate those saves (I have 5 saves for the same franchise), you can reload your last save and the trade may not happen. Just another option for those that hate certain trades but also dislike 30 team franchise.

                  Re: Fair Trades or Not?

this trade logic all has to do with these players only having 1 year contracts and the teams thinking they cant resign them. So the game tries to trade everyone. Its really a horrible trading system this year. In 30 team control i have only allowed 2 trades to go thru. Everything else is so unrealistic.

half these teams dont even get good value for these players who would never get traded

                    Re: Fair Trades or Not?

I am going to go out on a limb and say that the trade logic is far from horrible, at least what I have seen so far, except perhaps for the amount of early trades. Most trades in real baseball don't happen until June or later, as that is when a team determines whether or not they have a legitimate shot at the playoffs or if they should cut their losses. I think that almost every real star player in the last year of their contract is on the trading block. Whether a team actually trades these players is a different matter. We have all seen stars get shipped in the last year of their contract for what many would believe was far below market value. I can think of Santana, CC, Tex, Cliff Lee, just to name a few of recent era.

I can only imagine what people would be saying if the logic were not there. "How can X team afford to re-sign Y player? They are a small market team. The trade logic is broken in this game!"

Please restart your franchise the Rays would never trade away Price let alone both Price and Davis two of the best young pitchers in baseball just saying. I would restart if i wanted it to be fair, but that is just me do whatever you want to.

Haha thanks for the advice. There is no way in hell I am restarting my franchise, but I do hope that I can get Pena from the Rays with some of my young pitching talent. If not, then I will have to outbid them in the off season. One way or another, Carlos is coming back to the A's.

In 1 player franchise you have to watch the transactions daily. Save your game before jumping to the next day, if you see a stupid trade just restart from your saved game. It's a little more time consuming but you can prevent the majority of the stupid trades without controlling all the teams.

the thing for me is that with the season almost a wrap...I've seen some trades over the course of the year, that I thought...why in the world did they do that? But as the season played out and the dust started to settle, in most cases I could see the benefit for both teams.

Same here. Everything kind of balances itself out in the end. And many of the trades that do happen actually make more sense than you would think
