    Pending Trade Requests

I'm not entirely sure if this issue has been brought up by anybody yet, but from what I've seen in the thread headlines, I'm going to assume not.

    Scenario:

I was shopping around Lyle Overbay in my Franchise Mode with the Jays, looking for a catcher to replace the awful duo of John Buck and Raul Chavez. There was no interest from any teams, save for The Dodgers, and The Rockies, who were willing to give away their best talents. I offered Lyle Overbay to The Dodgers for Broxton, Martin, and Loney, and their "trade interest" was a full blue bar. After waiting a few days to see if the trade would go through on the pending transaction screen, I would click over and the request would be gone entirely.

I haven't tried to make any minor trades to see if I can trade at all, but, I'm not even receiving a notification that says your trade has been denied, it just flat out disappears.

Has anyone had this problem, and if so, is there a fix for it?

I'm not entirely sure right now.....(I'll check)...but I don't think the trade bar is in effect when you use the "consider trades"(or instant trades OFF)...option.
I discussed this with Kolbe(removing the bar for this option)...but he said since that front end was in...he would have it empty or full, so you wouldn't know the status of the trade until it was accepted or denied. I'm thinking they probably left it full....but like I said, I'm unsure right now.
As far as getting a "denied" message...I don't know....good question.
I've been fooling around with MANUAL trades so much I've never waited for an answer...sorry.

You won't get a prompt that pops up on the schedule screen, or anything. What you get (I have gotten this when I tried a few "test" trades, is an EMAIL that says the other team denied the trade. I haven't had a trade actually accepted yet, so I don't know what happens when one is accepted, but I would assume you DO get a prompt for that, as I have gotten prompts when other teams completed trades with trades set to auto.

Try offering the trade just before playing a game. I've had offers disappear after saving and then exiting the game without playing. If you play a game after offering you will either get an e-mail accepting or denying or you will see the offer in pending transactions.

        Hope that helps.

Do I read that to say you are advocating removing the bar for trades? If so that is a terrible idea IMO.

Since I can't pick up a phone and call the cpu general manager, how else am I supposed to know whether they are interested in my proposal?

no. he is saying that with instant trade off, the bar doesn influence anything. they had to either leave it empty, or leave it full, wouldnt matter. they chose to just leave it full. so it will always be full regardless of what you offer, since you have it set to "consider" mode

              Yes....exactly.
If you had instant trades off...but knew full well what the outcome would be by the bar...what would be the purpose of having the opposing GM "consider" the offer?

I haven't tried any trades yet, but if you make a decent offer with consider mode turned on, does the CPU ever make any counter offers?

I have noticed with any unequal player trade (1 for 3 or 2 for 1, etc) that the trade-interest-bar will always show max interest until you equal the # of players to be traded (1 for 1, 2 for 2, 3 for 3) because the CPU knows that a 1 for 3 or 2 for 1 can't happen if your rosters are full.

                    Re: Pending Trade Requests

This is a good thread because with all the testing I have done I still don't understand the manual trading with instant trades off.

At first I thought the interest bar had no bearing since it was either always full or always empty. With more testing I have seen it go to a quarter or half. The interesting part is that with full interest the team does not always accept the trade and with 0 interest I have never seen a completed trade.

I think trading is much harder as well. I have offered 3 A prospect pitchers for backups, for guys in last year of deal, to last place teams and always get turned down.

I am really interested in how trades work in more detail and what the interest bar really means. If anyone has successfully completed a trade with the interest at 0...etc.

Right now I cannot complete a deal. Not that it is horrible, I just am curious what The cpu is looking for, because I have seen them accept trades of far less from other teams and turn me down.

I was trying to test some trades out just to see how they work. I really covet Carlos Pena, so I offered three prospects for him. The bar was full or near full (I guess I am not exactly sure where the full bar ends). A few days later the Rays rejected the trade. I then looked to see what teams are rebuilding. The Brewers were so I tried to pull off the same trade for Fielder. Only this time I offered one prospect and the bar went almost full again. Two days later the brewers accepted my trade offer. This could be due to Fielder's contract year, his high salary, Brewers rebuilding, or a combination of all three. Since the Rays were still in the hunt, they rejected my offer. I find this very interesting and much closer to realistic than I have seen in the past.

Yeah. Sounds a lot better than past games. I havent tried to trade yet since im still in April, but I am thinking about getting Sizemore from the Indians. Haven't figured out who to trade but it is in my mind. Sorry Indians fans

I hadn't thought of that, you may have identified his problem. I have instant trades off (although now I wish I had it on) and my interest bar varies but I have a self imposed rule to only offer an equal number of players.

To the OP, try offering an equal number of players. That could fix your problem.

Is this confirmed...that if you already have 90 players you can't make the deal with 3 coming your way?....because at community day, you could.....and had to clear the roster space in a few days.
It was the one instance you were "allowed" to go over 90 players.
Hmmm...maybe it was causing problems as they were nowhere near finished with the trading logic when we were there.
                            If not...I'll test it later.

On the full roster(90 players on all four rosters combined)...if you make an uneven trade(a 3 for 1) where you are getting back the three players....they will be put on your roster and you have to make a move to get them back down to 90(and your MLB back to 25) before you can move on.
                              Just so you guys know.
