    Swing Speed ALWAYS Slow?

First and foremost let me just say that I'm loving this game. I've been playing console and PC golf game for a long time and this is the most fun I think I've ever had.

So is anyone else ONLY seeing slow swing speeds no matter how fast you move the stick on all non-putter strokes? And then... with my putter all I typically see are fast swing speeds and if I try to slow it down I ended up decelerating and completely screwing up my putt.

I've learned to compensate for it (although it's tougher on putts with fast green speeds) but I'm just curious to see if anyone is having this issue? It wouldn't concern me if I could actually produce a fast swing speed but nothing I've done will ever generate a fast swing speed. So instead I'm just managing my club distances accordingly and it works fine but it just kinda bugs me I guess.

    Re: Swing Speed ALWAYS Slow?

Most of my full swings are Overswing/Slow. Occasionally I will get a perfect. There is some talk that aftermarket controllers can solve this problem, but I have gotten pretty grooved in with my current swing, so I don't see any reason to change.

Chips and pitches are usually overswing/fast unless I am scared of a shot and I can get them closer to perfect/perfect. Again, I have just learned to compensate. As long as they are consistent than I don't have a problem.

OK. I'm seeing exactly what you're seeing so at least I'm not alone. And I totally agree... I've gotten used to it and I just play accordingly (which quite frankly... is what happens in real life too).

This is off the original topic but I also love how some days I'm not "swinging" the club on the right plane so I just adjust my aim accordingly if I can't get my swing path back on track. Again, it's just one of those things that makes the game more simulation like and enjoyable.

        Re: Swing Speed ALWAYS Slow?

What I've found is that the slow/fast speed you mention is more about the swing tempo, not exactly how fast you move the stick. For Slow, I usually have that split second pause at the top of the backswing before pushing the analog stick forward. To get a faster tempo, you should already be doing your downswing just as, if not before, you reach the top of your backswing... This is why the Fast shows up more often during putting and chip shots, you're already doing the downswing before the animation has a chance to go all the way back.

Then again I could be wrong, because I'm not sure how to get a Fast/Overswing with my theory. Hopefully someone that knows more about this can chime in.

Two factors can be an issue here...

          1. Did you equip shafts with the +3 boost? If so, change back to Regular Flex... You can achieve a fast swing with Reg flex easier and you hit the ball further that way....

          2. An aftermarket controller usually hits with fast swings easier than an xbox controller... AfterGlow or a Gamestop one are your two cheapest options.....

So are the afterglow controllers easier to hit straight with also?

Yes... there are less inputs and does not seem to detect the slight movements that an xbox does......

Seeing as the game is made for xbox and ps3 and their controllers using aftermarket ones in an attempt to hit the ball straighter seems like cheating to me.

Honestly, what is unfair is the inability of most xbox controllers to swing straight on a consistent basis..... Aftermarket controllers are used in every game across the board.... The game was made to be played. What controller you use is irrelevant.

I can see for offline use but online there should be a standard where everyone is on an equal footing.

I've been wondering about the shafts and couldn't figure out a reason NOT to use a +3 shaft, thanks for the tip I'll give this a shot.

I think you're onto something here. I'll experiment a bit and see what happens. But what you are saying absolutely makes sense in regards to chipping/putting versus normal iron/wood shots for sure!

I did indeed equip shafts with the +3 boost. Let me change that back and see what happens. I'll also look into the aftermarket controller (although personally... I like the sensitivity/variability of the stock controller as it's making the game play pretty realistic and that's what I'm after).

                        Thanks for the tips guys!

Maxed out at Level 100 today and went to the range to try to figure this out.

                          1) The way I have been swinging has been nice and consistent. I take the club back, wait for it to get set properly and then for my downswing "push" the controller to the 11 o'clock position for my fade. This gets me a nice Slow tempo that I have learned to control. Drives at the Augusta practice facility go around 290.

                          2) I started changing the swing. Nothing I could do on the backswing made any difference. You take it back and hold.

                          3) What changed was the amount of "flicking" rather than "pushing I did on the downswing. Moderate flick got me into the higher levels of slow or perfect every once in a while. I also noticed the "loopy-ness" of my swing went away. In the "push" method I had a lot more weaving on my HUD rather than a more straight line. Ball went around 300 yards, or 10 more yards than the push method for the downswing.

                          4) When I really flicked hard I was able to get over swing. Consistency was less, but I can tell I will be using this on some of the long par fives in the future. Ball went 310 yards.

See, that's what i love about this game. It's the same concept as the Pros IRL only normally putting in 80-85% into their tee shots. It's like using the push method is like putting in 80%, while using the flick method is like putting in that extra 20%. I don't know about everyone else, but to me, the Simulation mode is about as realistic as your going to get in video game golf.
