And Vance claimed that Ukrainian intelligence interfered with both Hungary and the US elections.

Yes, this was an actual description I heard on a “conservative” radio station today during the five minutes I listened just to see how they would fall over themselves to excuse the latest from the orange clown.

For a straight shooter who isn't afraid to say it like it is, Conservatives have to really bend over backwards to tell us what he really meant.

After reading the times article, I'm pretty sure this was Trump's way of benching Vance for the decision on what to do at tonight's deadline. Vance appears to be the only one in the administration willing to tell the President something he doesn't want to hear, and even then he does it without any conviction. Trump knows where he stands now, though, and probably doesn't want to hear it.

The obsession with Hungary is bizarre. They are the least prosperous country in the EU.

My daughter is visiting my parents right now. She just reported that my mom said, "We'll see what happens at 8. I hope he blows them up." How very Christian of her!

I can't pick my favorite detail in the story.

- The visual of a U.S. official in the meeting picking up a 14th century weapon while at the same time invoking the Avignon Papacy. That would be corny for a movie much less something that actually happening.

- Undersecretary of Defense for Policy Elbridge Colby telling Cardinal Christophe Pierre who is the Vatican’s U.S. representative that the U.S, “has the military power to do whatever it wants in the world. The Catholic Church had better take its side.” Hmm.... is that more Mafioso or Nazi regime?

- JD Vance who converted to Catholicism in 2019, was asked about this story and whether the comments by Colby to Pierre could be seen as a threat. The vice president was obviously preparing to "with all due respect" disrespect the cardinal before he found out the cardinal was the Vatican's representative to the U.S. before pivoting to saying that he had not seen the reporting and how it is a bad idea to offer an opinion on "stories that are unconfirmed and uncorroborated, so I’m not going to do that.” Once again, HE said that the story that he had not see, then said it is unconfirmed and uncorroborated.

Yeah the whole I've not seen the reporting as a defense for not commenting just has to stop. Vance may be more dangerous than Trump if he should ever make it to the Presidency.

My brother, a conservative Christian recently commented on Facebook about the new Pope's calls for the peaceful and humane treatment of immigrants that the Pope was woke like the last one and therefore shouldn't be listened to when it comes to Christian leaders. I Tried to suggest that the Pope is one of the closest people to God and should be listened to but was having none of it. Kinda makes me wonder if another Crusade is going to break out over which sect of Christianity is the Real one and all others must be cast down.

My inlaws are the most Catholic practicing people you could know. My father-in-law goes to church multiple times a week and during COVID when masses were streamed, he would drive to the church parking lot 25 minutes away and stream it on his phone.

I have no doubt that if it came between the Pope and Trump that he would choose Trump.

Well this could be interesting...

Melania Trump issued a public statement today denying she had anything to do with Epstein, and called on Congress to let the survivors testify...

Yeah sounds like someone asked her for a comment on a story they were going to bring out, and she was getting out ahead of it.

There have only been two Catholic presidents in our history, JFK and JRB. Rumor has it that back in the good ol' days, the American voters were concerned that a Catholic president would be beholden to the Pope. Similarly, some voters seem to think currently that Jewish voters are beholden to Israel.

I am curious how the "religious right" moves in the future if the voters within the movement are no longer willing to coexist with one another and are more focused on the specifics of their individual faiths.

I know there is a lot going on but I can't believe how little attention the crypto scams are getting. They did the equivalent of printing millions of shares for themselves without telling anyone, selling them for cash immediately, then pocketing the money. Way worse than anything FTX did.

We really need more cage matches in Washington

Ready to rumble? Hunter Biden challenges Trump's sons to cage match

I support any constitutional amendment that would replace the filibuster with a cage match.

Might pay off to keep your candidates younger as well. No more 75 year olds running for congress if they might be needed for a quick cage match.

Pro-life bonded the evangelicals and the right-wing Catholics, but now that they have largely won that fight, the old animosities are coming back to the top. When I was a kid in rural Ohio there was a clear split between the Protestants and the few Catholics in the area. When I was in college an evangelical church in Morehead, KY had a sign up for a while saying that Catholics were going to Hell.

He was my choice when he ran in 2020. Kinda sad he was leaving Congress to run for Governor because you could always count on him to attack Republicans in committees and such.

Seeing that Roger Stone was behind this, I thought there was a chance he made it up, but with now four women that doesn't seem likely. Very sad and angry. Apparantly no politician can keep it in their pants.

If this helps clear the field it will help that from happening. I dont see a repub beating any of the democrat nominees in a head 2 head with ca being fairly anti trump. But theres been the risk the two repubs get the highest two primary totals which means they just run against each other with no d candidate.

Orban looks to be going down hard. 30% of the vote counted and the opposition party is only one seat from a super majority. The turnout was well beyond projections.

With 45% in, they now have the super majority and Orban has concede. I'm shocked he conceded this early.

Trump always escalates and now he's going after the Pope and the Catholic Church. The Far-right Catholics will love it, but this doesn't attract a single persuadable voter.

Looks like the billionaire. It is weird how in a state like California, they can't find a decent option for Govenor. No better hear. Keisha Lance Bottoms has no chance of winning the state but will probably win the nomination. No real fire power challengers. Geoff Duncan, the former Republican Lt. Governor is the closest, but he is never going to be trusted in the more deep Blue areas. People talk up Jason Esteves, but he is too unknown. Dems have a real shot here, but are putting up clunkers. Only thing that might save thrm is if creepy ass Rick Jackson wins on the Republican side. Charisma of child molester.
