MAGA trying to come to grips with the Trump/Elon falling out and trying to get on the same page on a narrative is entertaining.

So far:

1.) It's a chess move of some sorts between these two brilliant men
2.) There's no way Trump is in the Epstein files. Ya know, because it's unthinkable that a guy that called Epstein a great friend would be in them.
3.) They're just two strong personalities that worked very closely together for 6 months and need to blow off steam.
4.) They're two men of god that need to pray and come back together to put the country first.

It's insight into just how unreachable these people are as voters.

dubb93 06-06-2025 12:55 PM

Two men of god is the most ridiculous take on that list.

According to white nationalist nuts, they are "godly men." Which is defined as only concerned for themselves, their power, and hating anyone not like them.

Unlikely it will succeed but love to see Musk fund a viable third party and build momentum on this.

Totally agree. 10% of loonies on either side and the 80% are not accommodated for.

The Musk hatred on this forum is bizarre. Any other country would be so grateful for a guy bringing so much wealth to a country via his businesses and trying to fight tooth and nail to stop the U.S. going bankrupt. Political brain washing has stopped intelligent people from seeing the world as it is. Especially those who spend so much time with like minded people who continue to reinforce each other's opinions.

Probably a good few decades before we see this play out. The only way out for the U.S. is enormous GDP growth led by AI and robots perhaps. Wonder who could help with that lol? That could happen, although my gut instinct is whatever the country makes, they will always spend more. That only ends one way.

I agree with this circa early days. But he's turned out to be an ass. Jobs & Gates were also reportedly asses (and probably any billionaire needs to be cut throat) but he's up there. Currently, especially the past 3-4 months, I would say his cons > pros.

... and trying to fight tooth and nail to stop the U.S. going bankrupt.

Honestly, I don't think this is true. He overpromised and under delivered. His own official tracker said < $200B. Far less than the $2T he first committed to and then the $1T he revised to. And we know the big $ savings opportunities are in Defense, Social Security & Medicare. He bailed pretty early before even touching those. I don't disagree with overall goal of reducing deficit/debt but for his once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, his execution was terrible and the resistance grew. IMO this was more a platform for his "brand" than true desire to cut deficit/debt.

Now, if he does start this 3rd party for the middle-class and/or fund like minded politicians to reduce deficit/debt, I'll gladly admit I was wrong.

There's definitely echo chambers ... on both sides.

IMO the first step is to stop the bleeding. Get back to near/deficit neutral budgets which will require painful cuts in benefits, increased taxes and/or cuts in people & programs. Then work on the $36T+ debt.

I’m game if you want to see how long we can stretch this discussion out. Still lots of “both sides” to talk about

dubb93 06-07-2025 06:59 AM

Musk’s companies exist to suck up government money.

Maybe you guys can summon Brian Swartz and form some kind of "classical liberal" Voltron that desperately gives itself flowers over and over and over again.

Sure.

It'll be the right wing, centrist/moderate version of you progressive "cancel culture" bros.

thesloppy 06-07-2025 07:56 AM

Pick out whatever cloak appeals at the moment, what's important is that you keep endlessly braying about how open minded you are.

JPhillips 06-07-2025 08:04 AM

There's no realistic way to get to a sustainable budget number without tax increases. So long as you want to cut taxes further, you aren't being serious about a balanced budget. It's all just performance for gutting entitlements and fucking over the elderly.

You do the same on "free speech" (for me and my bros, but not for thee)

RainMaker 06-07-2025 08:10 AM

You would think the world would have gotten a short reprieve from the sycophantic Musk stuff after he spent the past few months exposing himself as a drug addled conman. How can we survive without throwing hundreds of billions at a guy to blow up rockets and sell shitty overpriced EVs?

Absolutely, and instead they increase it by 10-12% every year. It's insanity.

Seriously. Free speech is the ability to say something and not have the government take action against you for it. It is not being forced to listen to an opinion (hello mute button) or pretend it isn't shitty (hello post button).

LOL. I'm 100% sure that Musk's various companies have sucked up far more government funds than they have contributed back in GDP, never mind taxes.

Miller and Hegseth sure sound like they are working to invoke the Insurrection Act.

PilotMan 06-08-2025 07:44 AM

For supposedly making everything great again, we're supposedly having one "emergency" after another. Sounds a lot more like we're in total crisis instead.

RainMaker 06-08-2025 12:14 PM

Feels like they're crashing out. Trump likely fuming about his friend exposijg him as a pedophile and Miller upset his wife ditched him for Elon.

This is just a continuation of the authoritarian playbook. Things going poorly? Time to crack down on citizens.

The people cheering this on eventually become the targets as more people start to see through the bullshit.

RainMaker 06-08-2025 01:12 PM

Also pretty funny that the QAnon folks screamed about pedophiles running the country and suddenly got silent when Trump is exposed as one.

Ksyrup 06-08-2025 02:09 PM

Suddenly?

Atocep 06-08-2025 02:12 PM

Immigration is also the only issue Trump is polling positively on (barely). He's underwater on every other issue so they're going to dig their heels in on this and keep it in the media as much as possible.

flere-imsaho 06-08-2025 03:35 PM

Things would be so much worse under Biden, though. Glad we didn't re-elect that guy.

It would also be bad to have a President with dementia in power. You guys act like these were the only 2 options.

It wasn't even close to a believable fake stumble. These guys are so weird.

Ghost Econ 06-09-2025 02:31 PM

Like, what grown adult would willingly do something like they? Like I'll take stumble to make a kid laugh, but to curry favor with my boss?

It's insane people worship this group of weak people.

Danny 06-09-2025 03:04 PM

I mean whoever was making the decisions for Biden would be better than Trump but Biden was a terrible candidate for this election. Ultimately he gave the election to Trump.

All their alpha stuff is massive projection. Weak people who are submissive to others. To some it's probably a kink.

The fact that the news is covering it as something he did as opposed to an unconstitutional thing he's doing is insane.

If the US survives, these Marines and their leaders need to be tried for treason when this is done.

dubb93 06-09-2025 04:54 PM

Lost in all of this is the fact that RFK Jr. fired the entire vaccine advisory committee. Can’t wait to see who he decides should be deciding our countries vaccine schedules.

RainMaker 06-09-2025 05:13 PM

All because his friend exposed him as a pedophile.

All they have to do is remove a vaccine from the recommended vaccines list and insurers will no longer have to cover it, which means most people won't get it. The damage will be done.
