WHAT? DAMNIT!

That one hurts. Loved him in every role he's been in. From what I'm reading, he seemed like a wonderful man who everyone loved. RIP Broyles

Hope he was able to see an advance screening of John Wick 4

Jerry Springer died. Best known (in my circles) as being a former partner of my old firm prior to running for Cincy mayor.

Quote:
The history class in the 22nd century on the "Fall of the American Empire" will definitely have units devoted to Donald Trump and Facebook but Jerry Springer will certainly be in that textbook somewhere. |
Built mostly on the back of Morton Downey Jr.'s "pioneering" work.
|
I wondered why he was trending on twitter. Never was a fan so not heartbroken over his passing
|
There was a moment there in the 90's when he was one of the biggest stars in America.
Didn't realize he was born in a London bomb shelter during WW2 after his parents escaped from Poland and much of his family was wiped out in concentration camps. |
Will his children all have to take televised paternity tests to determine if they're in the will? And slug it out with chairs when something unexpected happens?

Is this a joke/troll job, or real?!

I mean, it appears legit... or Jerry got one last laugh from the grave with the ultimate troll job for his last JS Show. Rex Chapman posted what appears to be the full video as the kids watched it in real time.
This can't be real...! |
Quote:
Took some digging but it appears to be from a "virtual play" he did some time back. The tip off is that he only had one child (not three others) and she doesn't seem to be any of the non-recipient trio shown in this video. |
I figured it was too good to be true, and too true to his show.

Jim Brown was before my time but have seen his clips. Power running and speed at it's best. RIP

He was my goto guy in TecmoBowl |
He was perhaps a better football player than husband, but, I remember the crowd going wild when he'd make appearances at Syracuse games in the 90's when I was there. He'd just randomly walk down the sidelines, be spotted, be cheered, he took it all in. Every internal phone number at Syracuse University starts with 44 because of him (and then Ernie Davis, and then Floyd Little, and then we kind of just stopped having legendary running backs.)

English novelist Martin Amis is today's dead famous person. 73 years old.
I've been reading my way through his novels, and JoninMiddleGA has a quote of his in his sig, so that makes him famous enough for a mention. |
I've read Lucky Jim from his dad, but nothing from him yet. I don't think I've even seen any books of his making my used book rounds, which is a little odd now that I think of it.
|
I put my collection together from used book stores. Maybe you're not seeing them because I've snapped them all up. Friends of the Library Bookstore in Rockville had a great collection til I bought them all for $2.99 each.

Ray Stevenson, famous for playing Titus Pullo in "Rome" among other works, has died at 58. Rome was such an underrated show, and his performance was stellar. Among one of my favorite TV characters of all time.
Also, I am starting to see way too many people dying in their 50's. Sent from my SM-S916U using Tapatalk |

Rome was great and Titus Pullo was amazing. |

Kill The Irishman wasn’t great but the whole Cleveland mob in the 70s was wild. So many car bombings. Something between 30-40 in one summer.

Tina Turner died. She was 83.
|
Man, this one hits a bit harder than most. Saw her for the first time on TV, probably when I was 8 or 9 singing Proud Mary. Even at that age, when I couldn't have given a damn about music in general she was captivating. I called my wife little Tina when we first met because her dancing was full of energy like Tina LOL.

I'm pretty sure Tina Turner was my first crush. Slightly before Jennifer Connelly.

I saw this on Twitter and it unlocked a memory that I had completely forgotten about:
Bowie was 40 and Turner was 47 or 48. Makes me feel real old. |

Pat Robertson, professional con man, dead at 93.

Right now I'm imagining Pat Robertson and the Iron Sheik having some small talk while waiting to be judged in front of the Pearly Gates, arguing which one faked their profession better.
|
Pat Robertson, man of intolerance, judgments and mostly responsible for at a minimum, dozens of teen suicides. Unfortunately, we knew you too well.

I'm guessing God's pretty glad he's dead given what he said he was doing in His Name.

does this mean that these guys can now summon him?
