A guy named James Donald Vance Jr was indicted for threatening to kill ... JD Vance.

Someone dressed as ICE has shot two different state legislators and their spouses in Minnesota. Names haven't been released and suspect is still at large.
https://www.fox9.com/news/brooklyn-p...onating-police Edit: Names are released. Sen. John Hoffman and Rep Melissa Hortman |
Quote:
I think it's very telling that you had this stuff going on nearly daily when Obama was president, and they always hid behind the first amendment. I think people like Ted Nugent would have been behind bars if you had someone try and emulate that in today's environment. |
Rep. Hortman is dead. 4 others are injured.

Worth noting that the MN House and Senate are basically evenly split.
|
Little more: He was not dressed as ICE but a regular police, in a police-like SUV with lights. He hit the Senator and his wife, and while police responded to that, they also went and checked on Rep. Hortman. The suspect was there, returned fire and ran. This whole thing is crazy.
|
trump may have well pulled the trigger himself.
|
Quote:
That detail was the one that really had me scratching my head. |
It's only a matter of time until a real cop is killed because of the way ICE is running around with masks and no identifying name tags.
|
If the shooting suspect being identified on social media is accurately named, then it appears that he runs a security service and that might explain the access to what appeared to be a patrol car.
|
Worth noting that the two legislators shot were among only a handful of (D) who joined with (R)s to pass a budget bill that strips state-funded healthcare from illegals immigrants.
(Hortman was the only (D) member of the house to do so) |
Over 70 names on his list. "The names included abortion providers, pro-abortion rights advocates, and lawmakers in Minnesota and other states, the official added."

Nothing about this makes sense so far frankly, which is why I'm not inclined to draw any firm conclusions at this point. Based on some of the stuff I've seen that the suspect appears to be connected to, there's a path that might connect the seemingly different dots but to travel it sort of requires a route like little Billy took to get the mail in the old Family Circus cartoons. |
It is most likely going to follow the pattern most of these do. He is paramilitary, police wannabe, weird politics, and had some kind of break in his personal life. Snapped, and is going on spree.

Yeah I've learned there isn't any point in trying to find rationality in a senseless act.
|
Seems like a pretty run of the mill right wing evangelical with Fox News brain. Unless there is some weird connection we don't know about, I don't think this one is hard to figure out. Its a political assassination to flip the MN House.

trump has to pardon him, right? Like it's a requirement now.
|
In jon world, only one side of the political spectrum is allowed to exist. Those on the opposite side are silly for ever considering any sort of equal share.
|
I'm tired of the "Trump pardon" thing. He is going to be up on state charges. Trump couldn't pardon him if he wanted to.

Solidly Democrat area, those seats won't be flipping. She did vote to stop allowing health care for illegal immigrants (children still covered) but she did that as the leader of the house as part of a compromise to pass the budget.

Damn the military parade looks more like a small town Memorial Day parade. The bleachers in he shot I saw are almost entirely empty.

I told my wife it looks like a Kid Rock concert. I knew the crowd was small, but I wasn't ready for how small. |
Should have held the parade in Florida or some Midwest MAGA farm if he wanted an audience.

Looks like Trump has effectively nationalized US Steel.
Good thing the communists didn't win the election. |
Looks like there was a mass shooting attempt in Salt Lake City yesterday. Details are fuzzy but it sounds like a security guard shot the suspect when he pulled out his rifle but also hit an innocent bystander.
Two terrorist attacks in a day. |
I keep seeing video of a guy sneaking away with a shooting suspect's backpack because he saw a gun, preventing a possible mass shooting. I think that was in SLC. Not sure.
|
The Senator and wife that survived the assassin's attack took a combined 17 bullets. The mom shielded their daughter from the rain of bullets. Amazing.

They caught the guy. I still haven't seen details other than he is in custody.

There also a couple instances of people driving cars through the protests. But Florida said that's fine so I guess we can't count that. |
I think it's pretty clear the Trump and the people in his administration are actively pushing for a Civil War.

He apparently went to 4 lawmakers homes but they weren't home. Pretty crazy stuff and meticulously planned. Also found it odd that his wife was caught with passports, cash, and guns during a traffic stop. His brother and supposed co-worker at his security firm used to work for the FBI. Other than that, the gist seems to be he was a MAGA fanatic and Christian nationalist who had fallen on hard times. |

More ways for MAGA to spend their life savings propping up a billionaire, but the next time a dem is in office prices of everything will be a problem again.

The massive amounts of money they give to our politicians for the past few decades.

Yeah, that's a pretty big one. Most polls show Evangelicals have more support for Israel than Jewish people in the United States. |
Probably because those evangelicals think of the Jews as just lacking a little push to Jesus or they'll be easier to convince to hand over Israel than Muslims would be.

Trump complains we have "too many" non-working holidays. Just so happens he complains about that on Juneteenth. Coincidence? I think not. I wonder which holidays exactly he wants eliminated? I think we all know the answer.

Assuming they lose a day of PTO for it, they do (or should). I don't know about all companies, but that's the way it was at the place I worked when we started getting it off. There's an intelligent discussion to be had around days off, PTO, and how to handle a society where different people celebrate different things, but of course we're not going to have it here because a) it's pretty damn far down on the list, and b) when the White House acts like a holiday celebrating the end of slavery isn't worth celebrating, "holiday" is not the key term here. |

I didn't follow the race much but it goes to show you what having a young, personable person running for office can do on the campaign compared to some decrepit old guy you have to hide. The guy seemed to be on every talk show, podcast, etc that you could find. He cleaned up in the demographics that Democrats struggle with (young men primarily).
|
The guy who wants government-run grocery stores won the Wall Street demo. Not sure anyone in this country knows what they want anymore.
|
But CNBC told me they were going to make all the Wall Street guys walk out onto ice on the East River...?
|
Quote:
It's really popular among younger people and Democrats in general. It seems like his whole campaign was just picking issues that were popular with the base and going all-in on it. Helps he didn't have a bunch of corporate donors pushing back. And when the party couldn't touch him on the issues, they went after him on Israel (which is just insane for a Mayoral race). But the party still hasn't figured out that Israel is quite unpopular with Democrats. Or that just being really racist doesn't do well with young Democrats anymore. Regardless, they don't need $25 million to figure out what young men want. Nor a set of astroturfed podcasts. Just run young people who can speak well and take popular positions on issues. Not terribly complicated. Fuck, Obama did this in 2008 and they still haven't figured out why he won. |
Trump said the price of eggs went down 400%. I told the kids I'm getting rid of all their stuff so I can store more eggs. I know they'll probably be a little bummed, but it will be worth it to get all that money.
