Someone should write a white paper on it.

I’m seeing headlines saying that Trump got a big win with the China trade deal. What exactly did he win? The ability to lower his own tariff? I honestly don’t understand what Trump won here. Is this like shooting your self in the left foot but claiming victory because you didn’t shoot yourself in the right foot too?

Some products are already more expensive and if I know anything about big companies it that they will always walk back those price increases when the market allows it. Right?

So I guess the factories aren't coming back and the tariffs won't replace the income tax?

Get ready for our tech dystopia. The GOP has inserted language into the reconciliation bill that would make it illegal for any state to regulate AI in any way for 10 years.

Trump's Saudi speech was actually not bad. I mean you can question the morality but at least it was somewhat honest about America and its handling of the Middle East.

Not Trump related but the stuff coming out about Biden’s handlers having no faith he could respond to a middle of the night emergency and intentionally keeping cabinet members away from him so they wouldn’t realize how demented he was should result in charges being filed.

A lot of the waste is because of antiquated systems. It requires massive amounts of resources to update and deploy new systems throughout these agencies. My site was the first to deploy MHS Genesis to replace AHLTA/CHCS and it was a nightmare. You also see vendors take advantage of government contracts, especially when it comes to IT. We have departments in the hospital that will try to purchase their own computers for specific needs and if it doesn't go through my IT department then these companies (Dell, HP, etc) will try to sell them extra stuff they don't need to drive up the cost. Most actual waste comes from bad contracts. You'll see senior officers and high level civilians push certain companies for a contract and then once they get out of the military they're working for that company. You also see companies that are just in over their heads because they weren't prepared for the scope of supporting a large hospital or agency. They won the contract legitimately but just do a bad job and have to be replaced and the contract gets rebid. |

Trump telling Walmart to eat the tariffs. Lol buddy. That’s not how this works
|
If Wal-Mart should "eat the tariffs" as Trump says, then that's an acknowledgement of what we all have known and has been repeatedly said, right? We (whether our companies or consumers) pay the tariffs, not the other countries. Just another twist of pretzel logic.

I don't know whether or not Noem knows what habeus is, but lying about it is just part of the strategy. They know that most persuadable voters are low info voters. Those voters may or may not hear about this, but if they do they'll hear what she said and have no reason to search out whether or not she's telling the truth. They almost certainly agree with the premise she said and will instead think that Dems or the media are crazy for opposing habeus.

The big beautiful bill is fascinating to watch. It feels like one of those last heists before everything crumbles. Bond markets hate it. Probably not going under 7% interest on mortgages for awhile. Massive increase to debt with nothing to show economically for it.
Kind of running out of things to cut that can be transferred to weatlhy people. Especially with the military budget increasing. Another wild stat. The median home buyer in 2007 was born in 1968. The median home buyer in 2024 was born in 1968. |

The thing with this bill is maga embraces it because they believe everything they are told. Fox is saying how great it is and it will cut the deficit etc. and they believe it.

The combination of social media, 24/7 partisan news and the realization that you can make many low information voters believe whatever you state the loudest and most often has pretty much broken everything.
In 3.5 years when the majority of the country is far worse off, they'll find new boogeymen to blame and whip up even more hatred and distrust. If not Trump, it will be somebody even further to the right and more populist. |

Passes the House with one vote. Sure would be nice if 3 members didn't die this session.
|
They would have just gotten the GOPers who weren't there to show up. So long as the GOP was basically unified there was nothing Dems could do at the vote.
Where I think they yet again failed is in the lack of a coordinated messaging plan to put pressure on GOPers in NY/NJ/PA. There are a lot of seats there that are vulnerable and Dems did next to nothing to make a guy like Lawler feel the heat. |
