That one hits pretty hard for me. His music, including the non-soundtrack albums, always hit my sweet spot and soundtracked a lot of life. A lot of long hours writing in grad school or doing work late into the night with his music in the background. Plus, I always found his music so evocative - always something that could transport me away when I needed it.

Storch had a memorable comedic turn as a driving instructor in the Columbo episode Negative Reaction with Dick Van Dyke as the bad guy. Columbo offers to give Storch a lift and drives so badly that Storch demands he pull over and walks the rest of the way back to the station.

Sadly and predictably, many of the comments focus more on wishing it was Donald. Pretty sad that people can't nut aside hate and show compassion and empathy, regardless of how they feel about her Ex.

And before anyone comments about how lacking in empathy he is, I know, fuck him, but as humans we can make a choice to be better.

He had excellent range.

My earliest recollection of him was his portrayal of "Jack the Ripper" in the movie "Time After Time" with Malcolm McDowell. I'll never forget one of his lines in "Star Trek V: The Final Frontier", as the disheveled Federation ambassador to Nimbus III. "Welcome to Paradise City, my dear. Capital of the so-called Planet of Galactic Peace" Then, he played the role of Klingon Chancellor Gorkin in "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country".

For a sports culture that loves rings, I always felt he was underrated as a player. I was happy to see he began to get some of the respect he deserved later in life. That does not even begin to touch on everything he did and was off the court.

My favorite stat.

Bill Russell was 22-0 in winner-take-all-games.

At USF, his '55 team was 5-0 in the tourney on the way to the title.

At USF, his '56 team was 4-0 in the tourney on the way to the title.

In the '56 Olympics, the US squad was 2-0 when it came to the winner-take-all final 4 for gold after the group stage.

In the NBA, the Celtics were famously 10-0 in Games 7's throughout his career. He also won Game 5 of the 1966 East semifinals best of 5 series against Oscar Robertson's Cincinnati Royals.
