Without Shecky Greene there may not have been a Don Rickles, it was Greene who really cemented the importance of comedians as major draws in Vegas. |

Tom Shales, author, dies at 79. He was a long time TV critic for the Washington Post, but he is most known for his histories of television. "Live From New York" is the complete oral history of Saturday Night Live, and his book "Those Guys Have All The Fun" is a history of ESPN.
|
Shales is sort of the epitome of "really good at the specific thing/s he did" wrapup. No idea if he could have written the great American novel, like most writers wish they could, but he was a heck of a critic, and I own the SNL book and it's excellent.

Joyce Randolph Dead: ‘Honeymooners’ Actress Was 99 – The Hollywood Reporter

His farewell video released a week or so ago was a brutal watch for us here in the batcave (and came just hours before firearms YTer Paul Harrell also announced he was stepping away due a similar pancreatic cancer diagnosis)
Barczyk had been a staple of Will's YT routine for many years, and since his viewing sometimes becomes mine he was a very familiar creator to me as well. I just hate it, for the fans, the animals, and his wife and kids. Fuck cancer. Brian Barczyk, owner of The Reptarium, dies after battle with pancreatic cancer |
Adam Harrison, the son of the star of Pawn Stars, dies of an overdose at 39. One of those addictive shows that is great when you are killing time in a hotel. Just sad what drugs can do to a life.

When I first saw the headline, I thought it was the TV kid Corey.
I enjoyed Pawn Stars when it first came out, I learn a lot of interesting stuff. But man, the negotiations were sometimes brutal. |
This one wasn't mentioned and is somewhat obscure.

Also didn't know this guy but the headliner about "Boney M" jarred a memory. And he also brought us Milli Vanilli.

Some of the best Carl Weathers' moments were in his minor roles. Here's one of my favorites, as he intimidates Richard Dreyfuss in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind."

Dang. R.I.P., Carl.

My favorite Carl Weathers role will always be him playing himself on "Arrested Development". "Now you got a stew goin'!"

My wife runs marathons, so this made her really sad. She was thinking he was the best shot at a legit 2 hour marathon mark. Apparently, someone else had "broken" the 2 hour but it was with alot of assistance.

Definitely sad. There's a sad irony in a person who runs long distances dying in a car crash.

Very sad day for me-I honored his memory by having one for breakfast:

Richard Lewis Dead: Beloved Comic, 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' Actor Was 76 |
Larry David and Richard Lewis were just fighting over who was going to die first on Sunday's Curb episode.

Richard Lewis has looked like he was on the verge of death for a while now.

Yeah, I don't remember the last time he looked good
|
I know he did a lot of stuff but he was so damn good on Curb.

I met him once. Back in college I worked sorting goods store for two years. He was in town for a show or something and stopped in to get some dumbbells so he could do curls in his limo. We didn’t have the weight he wanted in the pre-made ones, so I cobbled together a couple out of the bars and free weights we had. He tipped me $5 for the effort. Nice guy. |

Award-winning ESPN NFL reporter Chris Mortensen dies at 72 - ESPN |
That one hurts. Been such a big part of the NFL for so long, and a regular on local sports talk. He would still come on occasionally even though he had a hard time talking. Gonna be sorely mussed.

It's crazy to me that Berman is only 68. It seems like he's been old since the early 90s.
