The comments on social media about using the military to take it back are amazing. MAGA is the most shameless group of hypocrites that ever existed.

Well from where else would you invade Iceland?

Edward64 12-23-2024 05:07 AM

I prefer Greenland > Panama.

I googled on "is greenland happy to be part of denmark". Apparently, not so much. Buying Greenland is very unlikely, but a better approach is to try get an agreement with Denmark on some sort of joint exploration, development, military base, whatever etc.

Now, if I translate this over to Civ 6 ...

All that unexplored territory, like villages, move into the hex and get a surprise! Have to build up our "influence" over Greenland and then over time, Greenland will rebel and ask to join the US.

I'm sure there is a period of time where her diagnosis/recovery was in doubt so understandable no one disclosed then. But seems that she is firmly not capable and her condition should have been revealed.

I sure hope someone is held accountable (e.g. her chief of staff). I would like to better understand the timeline of events.

It remains unclear why Granger’s relatives or staff declined to disclose her condition to the public.

Among those to express their displeasure at the situation was State Republican Executive Committeeman Rolando Garcia, who described it as a “sad and humiliating way to end her political career.”

Granger had already announced her retirement at the end of this Congress.

Having dealt with both my father and my wife's father in this condition, once you go to a memory care center/nursing home the patient would be at a point where they would not be able to carry out basic daily functions or make any decisions.

Just like with Feinstein, this is grossly negligent and inexcusable. This is the exact reason we need age limits and required yearly exams that include cognitive tests. These people make decisions and cast votes that affect 330+ million, there should never be an excuse for this.

If she hit the point of going into a care home I'd say there's a strong liklihood that she knew while running for her last term. As you said, there's zero excuse for this.

So Trump has 2 hotels in Panama that were busted for evading taxes and there's an ongoing lawsuit. That explains the Panama Canal stuff.

He already made a call to annex Canada, so we're happy that he saw something new and shiny and has moved onto other things.

Nobody thinks that he'll actually do any of these things, as his 3am Truth Social rants are basically just garbage spewing from his mouth, giving credence to the saying that nothing good gets posted on social media after midnight.

The would-be US AG Gaetz tried to file an emergency suit to block the release of the House Report and didn't even know how to file it. The Clerk posted a note online that his suit would go nowhere until he corrected his errors. That's pretty funny.

Which makes a difference how? The majority of the country voted for Trump, not against the D's. One could argue it's good to see a D doing the "will of the people".

With the parties being virtually the same, according to you, I'm not even sure what the point of this whole thread is?

Before Trump won with a majority of the vote the left had an argument. But Trump did win with a majority despite all of the baggage that comes with him. The D's and the left need to rethink what they are trying to sell. Racism, misogyny, "it's all the white man's fault", and calling anyone that doesn't agree with you names, as their battle cry in a country where a woman has won the majority of the vote in a Presidential election and a black man was elected President isn't selling to most of the country.

JPhillips 12-24-2024 08:59 AM

I said both parties have nearly the same economic positions. I was told that positions like these are where they differ. Turns out they don't.

Harris absolutely did not run on anything you're talking about here. The campaign was aimed at rich white suburbanites and she toured the country with Liz Cheney. This is just blaming minorities for the failings of your party and the decisions it made.

Edward64 12-28-2024 08:03 AM

Travelled to see MIL who is living with a SIL. Her husband likes sports but during the down period he had NewsNation on continuously. This is my first time experiencing NewsNation and it's been a while since I've watched FoxNews.

I'd say NewsNation is better than FoxNews content wise. Whereas, FoxNews seems a bunch of opinions with stupid quips, NewsNation had more content and did longer features, albeit still with a right wing slant.

I put on my airpods and listened to music as I read or browsed to get away from it. I'd do the same if it was MSNBC all day long. My daughter is far more left than I am and proud that she avoided the family room and kept quiet.

Told the wife I would prefer not experiencing that again but unfortunately MIL is going to live with another SIL whose husband is also a NewsNation fan.

Still not a D, still not my party as I've already said directly to you.

Right, the parties are the same so what is the point of the thread?

As far as the original point it's till back one could argue a D did "the will of the people" based on how the country voted. I'm guessing if Harris had won with the same margins and a R had blocked a "Trump" person from being reconfirmed you'd be patting them on the back for their decision to do the will of the people and base it on Harris' mandate. The R's would complain about such a move by another R as you are complaining about Schiff.

Now if you are right and the parties are the same than good for Schiff standing up and saying it out loud.

I never said anything about Harris, I mentioned the D's and the left (that includes the far left crazies, more on that later). Her not trying to play the far left card out loud was one of her best choices and why I had some hope she might carry enough independents to win. Despite her not playing that card the stink still remained. For those D's that couldn't vote Harris because Cheney was on a stage with her trying to show not all R's were pro Trump MAGA ?(reading in more than that was silly) Well they got Trump instead. Well done far left D's. Again, looking at the latest election, mainstream folks in today's US are more scared of D's in general and their far left crazies than are afraid of Trump and MAGA even knowing exactly who Trump is.

Not blaming minorities at all, but of course that type of response is right in line with the name calling I mentioned in my last post, and trying to put someone that doesn't agree with you on the defensive. If they don't tow your line they must be bad. Nice try.

NewsNation is supposed to be more moderate than Fox. Overall they seem to be less negative on Trump than CNN or MSNBC without being full sycophants like Fox ore the more extreme Right wing options. Dan Abrams is a decent guy at least and does pretty well with legal analyst, but it is still not a station I'd want to constantly watch.

You absolutely did. You said the reason they lost was because they blamed white people for everything. Despite the fact the campaign did nothing of the sort and actually ran a campaign tailored to suburban white people (they even admit this!). Heck, they're carrying out an ethnic cleansing for white evangelicals.

It's the same dumb racist "minorities made white people vote for Trump" that has no basis in reality. Just an excuse for failure.

A look at the Harris campaign site’s generalized platform mission statement, for what it’s worth, does not sustain such a strong characterization as that in bold above:

Bought some today also. It’s on you and me to make sure the S&P gains +20% for third year in a row!

Collard greens aren’t great by itself. Pro tip, cook some bacon or pork belly with it (and salt).

Pro Pro Tip: If they sell Glory collard greens at your store, they are already pre-seasoned and very tasty.

Edit: True of blackeyed peas, or really any other veggie as well. Best canned vegatables.

cuervo72 12-31-2024 01:10 PM

I'll second that. The Margaret Holmes brand isn't bad either, or at least their tomatoes and okra isn't.

Pork and Sauerkraut for New Years It is said that eating pork and sauerkraut on January 1st will bring you wealth and luck all year long. Apparently, the German tradition comes from the (loosely translated) saying of ``I wish you as much wealth as the number of shreds of cabbage'' in the sauerkraut.
