Ok, I just saw that Havok purchased a solid playmaker with decent secondary skills for $42K. So this got me thinking. Could he have gotten a solid playmaker for $42K during the offseason? Is it a buyers or sellers market right now and when does it change?

When are better times to look for deals etc?

I think it's a buyers market right now if you're looking for passables and down. Solids and up may vary. Having said that, I did manage to get a 29 yr old popular solid (2.5*) winger/solid set pieces/team captain for only 22 K, and a starting IMF (2*) for only 4K. I got both of these guys while other teams were engaging in heavy bidding wars over someone else.

However, with a lot of new teams coming in now you MAY be able to sell to the new guys who don't know any better at a marked up rate. At least that's what I'm hoping with 2 fairly skillful for D5 (but already replaced) players on the transfer list.

Ok, Ok. I also want to know when and where you guys are finding Solid playmakers for under 50K. I really need to add a guy at winger or middie who can put up at least 2 1/2*. My division keeps getting harder and harder while I am in debt and cant keep up. I have up to 70K to spend until next week and I really want to use it to upgrade my team. On Saturday I looked through every single contry and didnt find what I was looking for. Any tips you can throw my way would be appreciated. I have found good deals in Canada and Oceania last season but I have not had as good of luck so far this season.

Generally speaking, the transfer market gradually moves from a seller's market to a buyer's market over the course of the season. At the very beginning of the season, there is a lot of cash floating around (prize money and such), and a lot of people are shopping for trainees (the earlier in the season the better, because of aging) as well as improvements for their club. At the very end of the season, but before prize money is handed out, you can find some real bargains if you have cash available.

The winger I mentioned was from the USA, while the IMF is from Denmark. I also picked up a better passable goalie for just under 83K in Canada last night. My advice would be to look at the smaller countries and always keep an eye on one or two comparable players and then try to get one or both without going over a max bid price. Being patient seems to pay off more than trying to win a war with someone else, although it takes a lot more time and effort.

I don't even bother checking Sweden anymore as the prices are insanely high, and only look in the US when I don't want to pay the extra 20% weekly wage because there's a lot of activity here as well. Argentina supplied me with my 2 starting wingbacks. With that in mind, a lot of the smaller countries seem to specialize in one kind of player (Canada/Thailand = keeper for example). It's pretty rare to actually get a "steal", but when you do, it sure feels good :)

How do you search other country's transfer lists??

NYFan- There is a pull down menu with all the countries listed in the top left corner. It will say your home country after you logged in. Click on that, select a country, and then select transfer in the menu below.

Sweden can actually be a decent place to pick up good young trainees. I bought a player for 7K there and resold him for over 60K in the US. Tuesday and Wednesday seem to be good because ther are just so many youth pulls on the market some manage to slip through.

Ah, ok. I had been trying to figure this out for a couple of weeks now. Thanks.

Canada, Thailand, Oceania, Slovienia are my favorites.

Sweden, U.S.A., Aregentina, suck big time. I've never bought a player from the USA. I only have 4 guys still on my team from the USA. That also means i only have 4 guys on my team that i started the game with :(

Sweden is nice for one reason only. You can find *anything* on there. Whatever you are looking for, the Swedish market is going to have several players going that day.

You're just paying for it.

You can get a good deal in Sweden in off-peak hours when there's other "more interesting" players available at the same time drawing bidders.
