Good sack percentage #

For a starting O lineman, what's a good sack percentage? What's considered a "red flag" or concern?

I have a couple good guys, with real good bars. But they seem to give up more sacks than I'd like.

So I'm wondering if I should ignore the # of sacks and look more a the %.

This is a very slippery question, but a few thoughts:

-sack % is obviously a far more valuable number than just the raw count

-sacks are very deeply affected by the QB, so it's hard to judge apples to apples

-FOF may not do a wonderfully intuitive job of parceling out sacks among the OL, so many of us don't' vest a lot into the specific data at this level

-if you insist, then I'd toss out a stab in the dark say a number over 1.6% for a tackle is troubling, and over 0.8% for an interior lineman

I agree, I think it's probably wisest to look at your overall O-line number, and then use ratings to figure out who the culprits are. I think a great pass blocker surrounded by chumps is going to allow more sacks than one surrounded by decent pass blockers. And of course your other gameplan settings can inflate or decrease sack numbers.

I think OL are straightforward largely. A lot of different ideas about what block strength might mean, if anything. However, the stat I would look at is the TEAM stat for OPP PR%. You can find this on the Team Statistics page, or your own Team Summary.

See how well you're doing overall. Consider the SR of your QB as that relates most significantly to the amount of sacks he takes, no matter the quality of his linemen. If you're taking a lot of hurries, etc, try looking at how many weak links you have on the line.
