Not only a lot of great roles, but one of the few very likeable actors in Hollywood. Great guy.

Wow, what a comic. He was so much of an influence on my own appreciation of dry humor. I thoroughly enjoyed him. He will always be remembered.

I remember meeting him when he came to WV and spoke to the WV House of Delegates and won a commendatio by them, I was working for the Minority Leader at the time.

For whatever reason, I will always remember him in Police Squad more than anything else because my Mom used to watch of slew of police shows back in the day when we wanted to watch something else. So, of course, when we learned we were going to watch this new show called Police Squad, we just groaned. It wasn't until we saw the section of Rex Hamilton as Abraham Lincoln that we realized it was a satire (not sure why the previous scene didn't). From that point on, we were fans.

And of course, the fake freeze frame ending was great as well.

That's one of the best.
People forget he was a regular actor too before he turned comedic. Was in one of my favorite movies of all time Forbidden Planet.
