Just read the thread Anxiety started and my interest has been peaked. How about a good spot for a little background on how the game works and all of the Leagues/Countries involved within the Game.

For instance, I do follow Oceanic Soccer a bit (love the South Pacific), including Australia (yes I know the Aussies are now competing in Asia), so my question would be does FM include the A-League or even the O-League?

And as for FM as a whole, how difficult is it for a novice?

Thanks!!

Myles...the learning curve is steep, but I think a lot of that is figuring out how involved you want to be and the UI. For a newcomer I would honestly suggest picking a bigger team with plenty of $$ (so that you can get a feel for the transfer market without having to worry too much about transfer kitty/wage budget) and also, even for the first season, just letting your assistant manager do the dirty-work of selecting the team. Especially at a big club you'll tend to have a decent AssMan so he won't mess it up too poorly, and it will let you dig in to whatever degree you get comfortable, tinkering with his selections and what-not

It does have the A-League.

It's not exactly easy, but the game does a good job of managing the things you don't want to do (scheduling friendlies, team setup, etcetera)

Yes, it definitely includes the A-League. Not sure about the O-League.

The first time I tried playing (CM00/01 I believe), it took me a few tries before I got it. But once I got it, it has been the game I spend 75% of my time with ever since.

I agree with the other posts. If you pick it up, be prepared to be lost for a little bit, but try to commit to playing through at least a full season. You really need that much time to become used to how the game works and to begin to get attached to your chosen team. If you don't have patience to get through a season, I don't think you'll be able to fully appreciate the kind of game FM aims to be.

Choose Exeter City and see if you can get those punks to score some friggin' goals.

(Exeter have fired me in each of the last three versions of the game)

kind of appropriate since im starting a new install on the new laptop BUT to avoid the debacle of last time....how can I tell if Ive installed the full version or the demo that wont let me license it at the end of the season? That was awful and I dont want to start again only to crash. I downloaded the WWSM try and buy, again, from the SI site but no where does it give me any sign that it is the full version and not the "bad" demo I had that one time before. What can I look for as a sign?

DOLA

upon bootup of the game a small error says:

"Error registering product" then continues to start the game up to the main menu.

When loading up a transferred game file from the old laptop, it crashes to desktop and says that the game has been saved as the demo has expired. Then I get a runtime error & finish of the crash. Im going to uninstall from within the add/remove programs screen and then do a regedit to remove the keys for WWSM and start over. So frustrating. why doesnt WWSM say if its the demo version or not?

I'm afraid to start a new game for fear of wasting a year's (season's) time and having something go wrong.

damnit, i found it under purchase status after I started a game and it says not purchased. Could this be any harder? What do I need to do please?

Edit:

I think i figured it out

wow is the setup a cluster....Marc, youve got to fix this for next time because it seems like a simple fix but nowhere on your forums are you (or any SI reps) answering the few people's questions with this simple fix...unless I missed it. I see alot of "Uninstall and then reinstall" answers.

you have to install the original version, THAN elicense, then install subsequent patches. If you do the patches first, the option to buy disappears...at least for me and some others.
