View Full Version : Fantasy Football Host?

Over the past 3-4 years, we've hosted our fantasy football league on CBS Sportsline. It costs $130-150 to host your league there, so I figured this year I'd look in to other options.

While Sportsline offers what we need, it would be nice to find a free site or something cheaper without compromising our needs.

What we definitely need:
1. customizable scoring (we have our own scoring system, and don't want to change it)
2. live scoring updates (we want immediate updates on our games)
3. messageboard (FFLs wouldn't be the same without the trash talking)

-I tried ESPN.com, they don't allow the flexibility in their scoring system that we want. For example, for QBs they offer points based on every 10yds, 25yds, 50yds etc, but we give 2 points for 200 yds, 3 pts for 250, 5 pts for 300, then 1 pt for every 20 yds after 300.

-Yahoo doesn't update scores until the next day. Or at least that's how it was when I did a free yahoo league 2 years ago. Though that may have chaned.

Anyone have any other options?

try fanball.com

It looks good. Half the price, and mentions everything we need. Have you used it?

I used to use it a while ago, haven't done any fantasy football in about 3-4 years though, so some of its changed since then. But they have good software and good support, everything is totally customizable.

In my main league we also use CBS, but I haven't been impressed with their offseason changes and we had some problems with them deleting players off of people's rosters because they were taken out of their database. So we are questioning out $120 we spent this year.

I'm in another league that uses Rotoworld and it is not bad. It doesn't allow you to store salaries and contract information if you are in a auction league. The only thing I don't remember is if it gives live scoring as I don't usually pay as close attention to that league. But everything else is pretty normal with it and you shouldn't have problems running your league from there.

Yahoo to me is still the best fantasy football option out there. Its free, and with the addition of stat tracker (real time stat updates), its really a great option.

My league uses myfantasyleague.com.

It is like $80 right now I think. They have really good support as well.

I didn't like the stat tracker for Yahoo. Although inexpensive, its pretty slow, and budget. Sportsline is the best around, that is why it costs so much. Yahoo definitely has the best free leagues.
