I apologise in advance for my lack of a clue regarding anything audio and/or video...

I have a crappy TV and a decent PC monitor, though it is CRT rather than LCD. All the same, I'd much prefer to play my Xbox on the monitor.

The 360 hasn't arrived yet, but it includes the HD AV cable, which I understand can be used exactly for this purpose:

So, my question is, how are you supposed to hook this up to your monitor? The plug at the bottom clearly hooks in to the 360, but the top plug looks like a male connector, which is the same as the one on my monitor. Will I need to get a female-female connector to sit in the middle, and can you even get those?

My friend plays through his LCD monitor with those cables -- but for a CRT monitor, I would think you would indeed need a female-female converter. I think those are still available...15 pin ones, if I recall correctly.

I am back out on tour with our truck, and we are running one of our gaming tournaments tomorrow night at Shepherds University, I will double check the cable and let you know what the connector is actually, but if I remember correctly, it is male and you can get the connector to hook up to the CRT as well....but the CRT gameplay with a 360 isn't the greatest, you might have it better with the T.V.

I finally got this setup last night, and it works GREAT! Bought a female-female adapter for $7.90AU and it all worked fine.

When the 360 was setup to my TV (which is large, yet non-HD), it was real hard to read the text, especially in a title like Oblivion which has an awful lot of it. As soon as I hooked the 360 up to my PC monitor however it looks more awesome than words. Absolutely crystal clear, and the difference makes it feel like I've upgraded my console or something. :)

As I said in my first post, this is a CRT monitor too, though it is a decent quality CRT even if it is ~4 years old.
