I want to pick up a few pc games from North America either (US/Canada).However isnce I am overseas it is almost impossible to find anyone back in the US that will ship software internationally.BTW this I guess was changed after 9/11 due to the terrorist attacks.

I've had no luck with this either. I have either ordered it from Amazon.co.uk (If it's out here), or had friends buy me the game in the US and then send it to me Fed Ex/UPS or what have you. The problem with the latter is that you can, and will likely, get nailed with a VAT charge that can be ridiculously high.

Interesting that the reverse doesn't seem to be as true. I got the game Uplink for Christmas from the UK without any trouble.

Agreed. When I was in the U.S. I had no problem at all...

Amazon ships worldwide, I believe.

Also, try wizardsandwars.com (http://www.wizardsandwars.com/)

Amazon.com doesn't ship software to Canada (probably not more over the big pond), from what I recall. Books yes, DVDs and VHS tapes, yes, but I think they don't ship software...

What's a VAT charge?

What if you were to send it through the US mail...international?

VAT=Value Added Tax. Kinda like state sales tax, but usually it's anywhere from 12% to 22%

From what I've seen getting stuff shipped to me from back home, the postal inspectors in Europe go through everything, so even if you try to sneak something through, most of the time they would find it. The strange thing is on all of my trips over the past couple of years, I've never been stopped at customs, either in Europe or the US. I guess that means the next time I try to sneak some Cuban cigars back in, karma is gonna bite me in the ass :)
