View Full Version : IAAUS- A FBCB 2010 Dynasty
So im going to attempt my first Dynasty here and if people want to join in as a coach or recruit they can, just let me know and I'll add ya. Im also doing this at the same time over at FBB.
The concept came in a failed attempt of a new FBCB 2010 league (so I’m using the same background story just slightly modified).
The dynasty should be a little bit different than most already done with FBCB. Instead of playing the game normally, I’m going to act as the Big East Conference Commish (since I’m from Pittsburgh and love the Big East) and I’m going to try to compete against the AI in terms of getting the best head coaches for the correct teams (in the Big East) and hope that I can amass the most titles and wins out of the big conferences but also highlight some other stuff about the league.
The 2 major rules are I can’t hire a Head Coach from one of the other Major Conferences (Big 10, Pac-10, SEC, ACC or Big 12) however their assistants are fair game. I am also not touching the Head Coaches of the 3 other bigger type Conferences (the A-10, Conf USA and the Mountain West) Ill leave those for the AI to move around.
The AI can’t fire any of my head coaches, as I’m the only one that can do that but I will set the AD goals for them.
The league options are limited conference movement, no injuries, no leaving for the draft until you graduate, and transfers play immediately.
The first 4 seasons will be fast simmed to get a tiny bit of history and then I will jump in.
The NCAA, at first named the Intercollegiate Athletic Association of the United States (IAAUS), was established on March 31, 1906, to set rules for amateur athletic sports in the United States. When then-president Theodore Roosevelt's own son, Ted, broke his nose playing football at Harvard, Roosevelt became aware of the growing number of serious injuries and deaths occurring in collegiate football. He brought the presidents of five major institutions, Army (West Point), Navy (Annapolis), Harvard, Princeton, and Yale to several meetings at the White House in October 1905 to discuss steps to make college athletics safer. The IAAUS was created as an outcome of those meetings and became the National Collegiate Athletic Association in 1910.
Boy was that the good old days…. Now the NCAA is just big business, and in big business the little guys (the fans and athletes) simply just don’t matter. It started out with the correct image, the correct vision, and the proper mindset.
Now??????? Ehhhhhhhhh is about all you can say.
For the past 100 years the NCAA has began to take hits….. Hits from the public, hits from the fans, hits from the student athletes themselves. Behind the scenes it is believed that profits seem to be the only real goal and the getting is really good.
Following losing the 1953 case The University of Denver v Nemeth, where it was found that a student and athlete was owed workers compensation, it has been argued that the NCAA created the term "Student-Athlete". This was done according to Andrew Zimbalist in his book Unpaid Professionals (1999) to prevent similar future litigation losses.
Former NCAA President Walter Byers in his book "Unsportsmanlike Conduct: Exploiting the Student-Athlete" refers to the NCAA's operation by stating that "Today the NCAA Presidents Commission is preoccupied with tightening a few loose bolts in a worn machine, firmly committed to the neo-plantation belief that the enormous proceeds from college games belong to the overseers (administrators) and supervisors (coaches). The plantation workers performing in the arena may only receive those benefits authorized by the overseers."
Wow. Talk about a powerful statement by a guy that used to run the show himself. If you were to venture out and look up a slogan about the NCAA it would be hard to find one better than this- “Making big money off the little guy since 1953”.
Due to statements like that and the scandals the NCAA has been involved with over the past 30 some years the public has lost its trust and member institutions started to discuss pulling their membership.
Some of the biggest scandals that have rocked sports and the NCAA have been:
The SMU football program and the” death penalty” The 1994 point shaving scandals involving Northwestern and Arizona State, The FAB 5 and Michigan getting busted for a booster paying the kids to play, Jim Harrick and the Georgia basketball program letting his players get high grades even though the players were not showing up for class, TOSU and Maurice Clarett getting nailed for taking thousands of dollars in benefits after winning a National Football Championship, John Calipari, Derrick Rose and the Memphis SAT scandal, USC and the pay to play scandal of the basketball and football programs in the early 2000’s, The 2004 alleged rape and sexual harassment of then kicker Katie Knida and “Lack of Institutional control” with the Colorado Buffalos, Cam Newton and the sham of NCAA amateurism and finally the biggest one of them all was Coach Dave Bliss and the murder of Patrick Dennehy by teammate Carlton Dotson at Baylor.
NCAA President Mark A. Emmert had to keep the ship from sinking and had to do something fast. Sponsors were pulling out, the BCS was killing football, they even tinkered with March Madness, meanwhile the fans and the athletes were still stuck holding the bag. Simply put the NCAA was falling apart.
In a last ditch effort to save intercollegiate athletics Mark created 2 separate governing bodies for the NCAA tier one sports (Football and Basketball).
The new Director of Football Operations became Cartman and his new association became Front Office Football a Bowl Bound College Football League. If you are interested in playing in a College Football sim league please check them out at (http://www.fofc-bbcf.com
As for basketball the IAAUS was now back in business.
So I fast sim the first 4 seasons and the outlook for the Big East is extremely bright. I think I have some work to do with a few teams and finding the correct coach for each, but for starters the group of head coaches dont all look too bad. Lets take a look.
1. Cincinnati- Cristobal Malone- He is rated a 7 (recruiting),6 (scouting),10 (offense),6 (defense)
He has totaled up 72 wins and 63 losses with 1 guy being an All American. The Prestige has only fallen 1 point from 74 to 73 and he has made the IAAUS tourament twice in the past 4 years.
2. Connecticut- Devin Foust- He is rated 10,7,9,10. He is 122-27 with a championship in 2011. He has made the IASUS tourament all 4 years, winning once and losing in the championship the following year. He has coached 3 All Americans and has also won a Big East Title. The Prestige has gone up 10 points from 90 to 100 under him.
3. DePaul-Scott Healey- He is rated 6,7,7,6 and I can tell right away I doubt he is going to make it past the first round here with me. He record is 39-86 and has gone from winning 13 games his first season to 5 games this past. The Prestige has gone from 57 to 53 and it just doesnt look like he has his team improving much.
4. Georgetown- Ken Ortiz- He is rated 10,2,10,8 and has gone 100-45 in 4 seasons. He has made the Tourney all 4 years including a sweet 16 appearance his first season but the Prestige has fallen by 4 from 91 to 87.
5. Louisville- Daniel Eakin- He is rated 10,1,10,5 and is an interesting cat stats wise. He has gone 79-49 however his first 3 years he was at UTEP. He has had 1 All American but this past season while at Louisville he went 13-18 with only 4 Big East wins. He hasnt been here long for me to have any loyality here so we shall see. Their Prestige has gone down from 89 to 75.
6. Marquette- Jeramy Belt- He is rated 5,8,9,10 and has gone 79-57. He has been to the IAAUS tourney twice (including this past year) and has also been to the 3BI and NIT once each. The Prestige has gone from 86 to 82 under him.
7. Notre Dame-David Scott- He is rated 4,6,10,10 and has a wonderful stat line. He has gone 102-46 with 2 Sweet 16 appearances and a loss in the IAAUS Title game this past year. His Prestige has gone up four from 86 to 90.
8. Pittsburgh- Leland Ward- He is rated 9,10,8,10 and has gone 84-50 with 1 All American. He has made the IAAUS tourney twice (his first 2 years) however the past 2 seasons he has gone 18-15 and 17-16 and missed every post season opportunity. Pittsburgh's Prestige has gone from 92 down to 80 during his 4 years.
9. Providence- Richard Leija- He is rated 10,4,2,10 and has gone 67-65. His first 2 seasons however were at Southern Mississippi however the past 2 seasons he has taken Providence to the 3BI and the NIT, the only 2 times the program has reached a postseason. The total Prestige has gone down four from 70 to 66.
10. Rutgers- Jackie Corral- He is rated 7,2,10,7 and is another guy I may have a hard time keeping around. He has gone 38-86 and 5-26 this past season. He has only won 16 Big East games the past 4 seasons while seeing his teams Prestige go down by one from 54 to 53.
11. Seton Hall- James Wyant- He is rated 4,6,10,5 and has gone 69-61. He was at Valpo his first 2 years making the NIT once, but did improve the Hall's big east record by 1 game this past year going 13-17 (7-11). The Prestige here has fallen from 70 to 63.
12. South Florida-Stanford Ericson- He is rated 8,8,10,5 and has gone 61-67 with 1 All American. His first 2 years were spent at Arizona State where he went 26-37. His first year with South Florida wasnt that much better going 13-18 however this past season they had a remarkable turnaround under his leadership going 22-12 (12-6) and a first round exit in the tourney (the teams only post season experience. Their Prestige has gone from 61 to 63
13. St. John's- Kristopher Hale- He is rated 8,10,8,2 and has gone 44-80. They went 12-21 (4-14) this past year and have never made the post season. Their Prestige has gone from 64 to 57 under him.
13. Syracuse- Jacinto Gomez- He is rated 10,10,10 7 and has gone 122-26. He has made the Final 4 twice (the past 2 seasons) the Elite 8 once and the Sweet 16 once. They have won the Big East twice and he has had 1 All American. Their Prestige has gone from 94 to 100 under him.
14. Villanova- Edward Shade- he is rated 9,5,10,10 and has gone 100-32 with 1 All American. His best season was last going 24-9 (12-6) and reaching the Elite 8. Their Prestige has dropped 1 from 91 to 90 in his 4 years.
15. West Virginia- James Johnson- He might be the best coach in the league stats wise. He is rated 4,10,10,10 and has gone 123-28. He has 3 National Championships already including 2 back to back the past 2 years, and 1 Big East title. He has also coached 1 All American and their Prestige has gone from 98 to 100.
Now onto the decision making process.
1. Cincinnati- Cristobal Malone- I'm going to keep him around for at least another season and hope he improves them, although his 234 rated recruiting class last year doesn't give me a lot of excitement. Id like to at least see him play in a post season tournament this year. He doesn't have a lot of leeway here though.
2. 2. Connecticut- Devin Foust- Not even another thought with this guy. 1 Title and counting, I hope he keeps it up.
3. DePaul-Scott Healey- He has just been fired. There was just no hope under him. The team went 39-86 and only won a total of 18 Big East games in his 4 years. It simply cant continue. His 303 rated recruiting class doesn't help matters either. New Depaul Coach coming up!
4. Georgetown- Ken Ortiz- While Ken hasn't exactly knocked the world around in his tenure at Georgetown, he hasn't exactly been horrible either. Id like to see them compete for the Big East Title and take that next step.
5. Louisville- Daniel Eakin- While I particularly do not care for him, he did land the 11th best recruiting class in the nation this past year, so ill cut him some slack. Id like to see them compete for the Big East title.
6. Marquette- Jeramy Belt- Jeramy doesn't have the coach ratings Id like to see but I do like that he was able to improve the team in his 4 years and he brought in the 68 rated recruiting class which ranked 7th in the Big East. I have to believe he is on the right track and therefore he stays. Id like to see them make a post season tournament again,
7. Notre Dame-David Scott- Ya has done a lot so far so he isn't going anywhere.
8. Pittsburgh- Leland Ward- I love his ratings as a coach, but he just hasn't been able to put it together with PITT. I mean come on they started as a 92 Prestige and are now currently sitting at 80. He has recruited really well his first 3 seasons so I'm not sure what the problem is here. It has to be him. However I am giving him his last chance this year and want to see them compete for the Big East Title. Last Chance, Last Shot, whats he gonna do with it???
9. Providence- Richard Leija- I like what he has done with Providence so far. They have done better the last 2 years under him than that did before he was there, so its an improvement. He had the 85th best class last year which was good for 9th in the Big East. Cant complain about that.
10. Rutgers- Jackie Corral- 38-86 just isn't getting it done, and there really isn't a whole lot to look forward with leaving him in charge of the program. Another Easy decision here, Rutgers will have a new coach next season!
11. Seton Hall- James Wyant- As I'm sure everyone knows you need to be able to recruit in NYC and Jersey here to have any type of success at "The Hall" and he just cant recruit. He rating is a 4 and the last class he had was in the 300's and the other one was in 200's. Both were good for 2nd to last in that department in the Big East. He is also gone!
12. South Florida-Stanford Ericson- This guy I cant be any happier with. In a single season he guided them to 20+ wins and their first shot in the IAAUS Tournament. I hope they continue to improve and I'm hoping he makes the tourney again this year. I however as a goal just want to see them reach any tournament period.
13. St. John's- Kristopher Hale- He just hasn't gotten the job done, and with 44 wins this call was easy. He seems to be able to recruit ratings wise, but that hasn't translated to getting better recruits either. 2 classes in the low 200's and for a NYC school this just cant happen. Another Coach bites the dust!!
13. Syracuse- Jacinto Gomez- No issues here with the Cuse. 122 wins and 2 conference titles says enough. Id like to see them get back to at least the sweet 16 again though. Back to back to Final 4's are really tough to do.
14. Villanova- Edward Shade- This guy has over 100 wins however has only been out of the 1st round of the tourney once (this past year year with an Elite 8 trip). I need to see this continue with another Sweet 16 appearances at least. This is too good of a program to keep taking an early exit out of the tourney.
15. West Virginia- James Johnson- lol ya 3 titles in 4 years.... Don't think he is going anywhere!
4 jobs open and I don't like a lot of the candidates from the Big East Assistant Pool.
West Virginia's Daniel Hansen is prob the best candidate of the bunch, however he failed miserably at Kentucky. He ended up going 51-46 before getting canned. He is young at 35, so he still has time for a big time job, however I'm not sure if he is gonna get snapped up here quickly by another big time Conference. He just did win a title at WVU. He is gonna be on a shortlist of mine.
Also on my Short list are some Big Conference Assistants.
Duke's Recruiting Coordinator Isiah Morley. His ratings are 10,10,2,8 and he is 61-40 before being fired at Vandy. I think he got hosed there though. He is only 40, really young and could make a hall of fame coach if he could find the right job.
Michael Bedford who is Wake's Recruiting Coordinator. He hasn't been a Head coach yet but his ratings seem solid with 10,6,1,6 and he is 46 years old.
Mark Babcock who is Illinois Recruiting Coordinator. He is 38 with ratings of 10,6,1,3 and he was at the Final 4 last year.
Ohio State's RC Daron Montes. Daron is 39 with ratings of 9,7,9,5. He was Virgina Techs HC for 2 years before getting canned going 29-32.
and finally
LSU'S RC Bobby Decastro. He has ratings of 10,2,7,4 and is only 39. He also hasn't been a head coach before.
On my list of current Head Coaches are:
Weber State's Carl Young- He has gone 71-59 with 1 Conference Title, and has made the IAAUS Tourney twice. At 39 his ratings are 6,6,9,6
Radfords Larry Vaillancourt- He has gone 75-54 with 2 Conference titles and has made the big dance once while making the NIT twice. He is 41 years young with ratings of 2,7,6,10
Winthrop's Jonas Marr- He has ratings of 10,10,2,3 and has gone 83-48. He also has 2 Conference titles and has been to the IAAUS twice. He is a young 38
George Mason's Darell Riordan- He has made the big Dance all 4 years (although has gone out in the first round each year) and has an overall record of 88-51 with 1 conference title. He is 47 years old with ratings of 10,6,10,2
Old Dominion's Robert Dutcher- Robert is 46 and has ratings of 2,10,10, and 5. He has gone 92-39 making the Sweet 16 in his first year and 2 NIT trips the past 2 years.
Virginia Commonwealth's Chris Killingsworth- At 47 he has ratings of 10,10,8 and 2. He has gone an unreal 100-35 and has 3 conference titles. He has been to the big dance once, and the NIT 3 straight years.
Drake's Curt Wells- At age 36 he has gone 81-46 and has ratings of 10,7,5,7 and has made the NIT 3 out of 4 seasons.
Northern Iowa's Freeman Wallace- At 34 he has made the NIT 4 straight years finishing 3rd and 4th the past 2 years. He has gone 99-42 with 1 All American and has ratings of 10,3,10,5
Sam Houston State's Brian Batista- At 29 this kid has to be a major up and comer. His ratings are 4,4,10,10 and he has gone 89-46. He has made the big dance once while making the NIT the past 2 years and the finals of the 4IT three seasons ago.
Stephen F. Austin's Michael Cothran- Like Batista above he is young 28 and has the potential to be a rock star. His ratings are 5,3,10,8. He has gone 95-37 winning 2 conf titles along the way, producing an All American and making the big show the past 2 seasons.
Oral Roberts's Jack Adams- His ratings are 6,9,10,2 and he has gone 81-54 winning 1 conf title. He has been to the NIT twice and the 3BI once.
Western Kentucky's Maynard Obryan- who at 44 looks darn good. His ratings are 7,8,10,6 and he has gone 100-38 with 3 conference titles and 1 All American Selection. he has been to the 4IT once and the Big show the past 3 years including a Sweet 16 appearance two seasons ago.
and finally
Utah State's Gary Martinez-who has only been there 1 season. He took the job there after his first 3 years at East Tennessee State. He has gone a total of 101-36 with 2 conf titles and producing 1 All American. He has been to the big dance once and the NIT 3 seaons. His ratings are 9,4,10,4.
Thats a long list of 18 possible candidates for 4 open jobs in the Big East.
I'm not even sure where I am going to go with this. I was surprised at how many coaches caught my eye.
Its not like these jobs are Huge Jobs especially the ones that are total rebuilds ( Depaul and Seton Hall) so I'm not sure if it would be better to go after a real young guy and hope he grows into the position or go with a guy that has already proven himself at a smaller school.
It def going to be fun watching these 18 for this upcoming round of jobs though, and see if any of them get snatched up by the AI if I do not take them.
I think I have cut the list down to these 8 guys.
The 3 Big time Conference Assistants
Duke's Recruiting Coordinator Isiah Morley, Ohio State's Recruiting Coordinator Daron Montes and LSU'S Recruiting Coordinator Bobby Decastro.
and the 5 Current Head Coaches
George Mason's Darell Riordan, Virginia Commonwealth's Chris Killingsworth, Northern Iowa's Freeman Wallace, Western Kentucky's Maynard Obryan and Utah State's Gary Martinez
I put a poll up with the 8 choices

Nice start and a solid dynasty concept, muns.
Nice start and a solid dynasty concept, muns.
Thanks DC. This first season should take the longest, but I'm hoping to pick it up and quicken the pace a bit. I didn't realize how many guys I would want to follow right off the bat.
So the 4 coaches that I decided to go with (thanks on the help with the voting) are:
Rutgers- They are basically in shambles and are in need of some desperate coaching help. This hire for me seemed like a no brainer. Isiah Morley who had a previous 3 year head coaching stint at Vandy (61-40) brings a lot to the table here. He can recruit and scout (both are at 10 ratings) plus he does have the experience at a Big time School already. On top of that guess where Mr. Morley went to school????? If you guessed Rutgers you nailed it. How can you not like an alum to come in and try to turn things around here? I'm hoping he can get the recruits in here and start to be competitive in the conference. The goal for them this year is just to not finish in last. I'm thinking he will prob at least last 4 years and then Ill re-evaluate where he is at that point in time.
St. John's- Another program in need of some help ASAP. They don't have much of a roster to work with but are in much better shape than Rutgers is. Here I went with Chris Killingsworth from Virginia Commonwealth. Chris bring in a lot of winning experience (100-35 plus 3 conference titles in 4 years) and he also has the ratings that I was looking for. He has 10's in both recruiting and scouting, and like just Isiah above, needs to get out on the recruiting trail to make this team relevant again. The ratings and experience seem to both be there, So now its just a sit back and see what happens thing. I'd like to see them finish 500 in the Big East this season, and I'll more than likely give him at least 4 years before I revisit this situation as well.
Depaul- This program is in the worst shape out of them all. They have no roster to speak of, and their prestige is at 53. It wouldn't surprise me if they got replaced in the Big East here shortly if things don't start to change. I went with Freeman Wallace the youngest coach out of the 4 that got selected. Freeman is an interesting selection here. He went 99-42 at Northern Iowa and did develop an All American there, however just like the other programs I've already talked about, recruiting is crucial, and Freeman has the 10 rating in that category as well. I'm also hoping that his 10 rating in coaching Offense will help the guys that cant seem to do anything with the ball once they get it. I'm not expecting a whole lot out of Depaul for a number of years and as long as Freeman brings things along slowly he will more than likely get more time vs the others that I have hired already. Being younger is one of the reasons why I went with him for this spot.
Seton Hall- "The Hall" had 7 Big East wins last year and have the best roster and Prestige out of the previous 3 Schools that I've talked about. So technically they are in the best current shape. I'm taking a gamble with who I hired for this spot as Maynard Obryan doesn't exactly have the same rating structure as the others I have hired. Maynard has a 7 in recruiting, 8 in scouting, 10 on coaching offense and 6 on coaching "D". He seems like a pretty well balanced guy so the hope is that he can both bring in good talent and develop it. If it turns out that he cant bring it in, then this will go down as a bad hire for me. He went 100-38 in his 4 years at Western Kentucky and won 3 conference championships. I'm hoping he can bring that same winning mentality to a Jersey school that has a lot of pride however just needs a push back in the correct direction.
Some interesting notes-
1. The ACC, the Big 12, and the SEC didnt make any Head Coaching Changes.
2. Iowa fired Mikel Sim who went 36-84 in his 4 seasons and they hired someone I didnt expect at all....... They hired former Rutgers coach and the man I just fired for going 38-86 Jackie Corral.
3. Michigan fired Daniel Bullington for going 70-59. His ratings are 10,10,5,6. Maybe one of my coaches will scoop him up for theirs staffs.
4. Purdue fired Romeo Phelps for going 79-55 and he promply got hired at Duquesne.
5. In the Pac-10 both Washington Schools had their head coaches retire. They didnt hire anybody worth mentioning which was interesting.
As for the guys that I did not Hire, 4 made moves.
Michael Bedford who was Wake's Recruiting Coordinator, got Hired by Portland State as its Head Coach.
Weber State's Carl Young- He left and took the job at Central Michigan.
George Mason's Darell Riordan- Darell took a nice Leap and landed with Memphis. All he has there is a team that lost in the Elite 8 last season and Prestige of 88. Wondering if I missed a huge hire for one of my teams here.
Oral Roberts's Jack Adams- Jack Took the VCU job vacated when I hired Chris Killingsworth at St. John's. Real nice hire there and was impressed by what the AI did.
As for the rest of the guys I was looking at
The Assistants:
Mark Babcock is still at Illinois as its RC
Daron Montes is still at Ohio State as the RC
Bobby Decastro is still at LSU'S as the RC
The Head Coaches
Radford still has Larry Vaillancourt as its HC
Winthrop still has Jonas Marr as its HC
Old Dominion still has Robert Dutcher as its HC
Drake still has Curt Wells as its HC
Sam Houston State still has Brian Batista as its HC
Stephen F. Austin still has Michael Cothran as its HC
Utah State still has Gary Martinez as its HC
I was not all that impressed with who the new Head Coaches brought in for assistants. Seton Hall and St. John's did ok, but DePaul and Rutgers were a dissapointment. But its not my butt on the line huh :)
Hopefully as recruiting starts up they can start to look a little bit better.
Early Recruiting looks really good for DePaul as they landed 1 and lead on 2 others.
Rutgers has 2 commits already, 1 looks to be ok and the other one looks like he will be a scorer, but nothing like what Depaul might have.
Seton Hall doesnt have jack, and it looks like what I was talking about earlier about him not being high in the recruiting ratings might be hurting him.
St. Johns lands Mr Basketball from Connecticut, leads on another and then is second on an All American. I'm really liking Chris Killingsworth's recruiting style with St. Johns.
Lets see how the first month of the season goes
http://i924.photobucket.com/albums/ad83/muns13/Bigeaststandings.jpg
About how I pictured it. Was hoping to have more top 25 teams but 5 isnt that bad for the moment.
December is done and there are a few shockers and they are mostly with the teams that I just hired for.....
The biggest shocker is that Rutgers is already at 6 wins which is already 1 better than last season!!!!!
Im shocked that St. Johns is 8-3 and Seton Hall are 7-4.
All St. Johns needs to do is win 4 more games and they will tie their win total from last season. So far really happy with how they have started.
DePaul only needs 1 more win to tie last seasons win total...
All in all im really pleased with how this season has gone the first 2 months
http://i924.photobucket.com/albums/ad83/muns13/Bigeaststandings2.jpg
I changed my mind, im not going to do a standings update each month. Just gonna keep rolling right on
Final Big East Standings before the Conf Tourney
http://i924.photobucket.com/albums/ad83/muns13/Bigeaststandings3.jpg
Cincinnati just blew this year....
Providence and Marquette were also disappointments
We do however have some nice bright spots.
3 teams ranked in the top 6, and 8 teams ranked in the top 40 of the RPI.
South Florida may have a shot at making the dance this year, and I think id be happy with 8 total teams making the big show.
Villanova is interesting to me. Not sure how they are ranked 20th, but look to be right on that bubble.
And of course just as I say that Villanova makes it to the title game of the Big East Tourney only to loose to Notre Dame 48-61.
So on the the IAAUS Tourament.
In the West Region we have 2 teams
#1 Seed Notre Dame will play the Play in winner
#7 Seed Villanova (who is a dangerous 7 seed) plays #10 seed Clemson
In the Midwest Region we have 2 teams
#4 Seed Pitt plays #13 UTEP
#7 Seed Georgetown plays #10 Nevada
In the South Region we have 2 teams
#9 Seed Louisville plays #8 Chattanoga
#2 Seed WVU plays #15 Jacksonville
In the East Region we also got 2 teams
#8 Seed UCONN plays #9 Miami
#2 Seed Syracuse plays #15 Weber State
Freaking South Florida gets a #2 Seed in the NIT...... I was really hoping they could make a late push for a bid but it wasnt meant to be.
Big East has 8 teams in the big show
ACC has 7 teams
SEC has 7 teams
Big 12 has 7 teams
Pac-10 has 4 teams
Big 10 has 2 teams
South Florida beats NC State 75-64 in its first round NIT game
Pitt beats UTEP 80-73
WVU beats Jacksonville 82-48
Syracuse beats Weber State 95-52
UCONN beats Miami 88-79
Our only loss on the first day was Chattanooga beating Louisville 93-78
South Florida looses to San Diego State in the 2nd round of the NIT 76-65
Notre Dame crushes UNC Ashville 121-64
Georgetown beats Nevada 80-66
We did have a loss by my Big East sleeper team
Villanova gets spanked by Clemson 74-59
2nd Round Action
Just a horrible day for the Big East
Butler upsets Pitt 68-63
USC upsets WVU 88-84
BYU crushes UCONN 94-70
Our only win was by Syracuse who beat Milwauke 81-73
next day
Notre Dame beats Wake Forest 72-56
Georgetown looses to Rhode Island 82-57 and this was not a seeding upset
Sweet 16 action
UNC beats Syracuse 104-86
Notre Dame keeps the Big East alive with a 76-61 win vs Stanford
Elite 8
UCLA destroys Notre Dame 103-61.
For the 2nd time in the history of the league, there will not be a Big East Champ... Heck of a nice run though.
I know there was some talk in the FBCB thread about the seeds that make it to the final four. Here the are a 2 vs 6 and a 3 vs 1.
With a 2 vs a 3 for the final (UCLA vs Illinois)
Close game UCLA wins 72-70
Recruiting came out pretty decent in the Big East I think
Yes a few programs should have been higher but overall to get everyone program except 3 in the top 100 isnt bad in my book.

DePaul's class coming in at 58 give me a lot of hope!!!
Side Notes
The Big 10 and 3 classes ranked in the top 6!!! OUCH!!!!
The ACC had 2 in the top 4!!!
The Pac-10 had 3 in the top 12, and 6 in the top 30!!
So Season 1 comes to an end.
I was happy with the 3 guys that were hired at Depaul, Rutgers and St. Johns especially with what they were able to do in the first seasons.
Seton Hall and Maynard Obryan kind of makes me nervous but he has a few more years to go before he comes back up on the chopping block.
The evaluation process of a few coaches that I dont think made the grade this season comes up next and im sure ill have a couple more hires to make!

Fascinating dynasty concept. It's giving me new ideas for what I do when I actually take charge of something in the Zeroed Out dynasty.
One question: Exactly how are you setting this up in game terms?
If anyone wants to get thrown into the mix either as a recruit or coach now is the time to do it

Thanks Izulde but your the one thats got the skills when it comes to this stuff.
Do you mean how am I running all the coaches?
Big East Evaluation of Coaches
Cincinnati-Cristobal Malone- Well he has gone 83-82 in his 5 years with the Bearcats. Nothing special to say the least. In looking over the roster he has 2 guys that can play total, and then he did have a nice Freshman class (2 guys) that came in being rated at #34, good for 6th in the Conference. I'm not sure 2 guys coming in being highly touted is enough to keep your job, especially since the entire Roster is your kids which brings me to the next problem. He only has 7 scholarship players on his roster........ He is out, new coach in Cinncy coming up!!!
Connecticut-Devin Foust- 2 years in a row the Huskies have lost in the 2nd round of the tourney, however they do have a championship, and the barge doesn't show any signs of slowing down. Nothing more to see here.
DePaul-Freeman Wallace- DePaul had its best season both in terms of wins and losses but out in the recruiting scene as well. Couldn't be any happier with him
Georgetown- Ken Ortiz- Ken is a guy that is going to start to get dangerously close to loosing his cozy job at G-Town. He produces in the regular season like a champ, however in the post season thats a total different story. In 5 years he has been out of the 2nd round once (his first season) and every other year its a first or 2nd round exit. He might be safe this year, and the year after, however I need to start to see some production of one of the Big East's best teams in the IAAUS Tournament.
Louisville- Daniel Eakin- Daniel bounced back this season taking the Cardinals to a 20+ win season and a place in the National Tournament. His first round loss is irritating, however he seems to be making some progress and as long as that progress is going up, he will be on decent ground coaching wise with me.
Marquette- Jeramy Belt- This one is a really tough call. In 5 years he is 95-74 which isn't all that bad, however the program is not progressing enough and is actually loosing precious prestige points (now down 10 to 78). Couple that with the fact that he only has 8 scholarship kids on the roster (including only landing 1 Freshman this year) and I think thats enough for me to call it quits and give him his Pink Slip! NEXT!!!!
Notre Dame-David Scott- Really nothing to see here. Just a great coach that keeps on winning (133-52) and he was the only coach that had a team past the Sweet 16 for us last year. Very secure indeed!
Pittsburgh-Leland Ward- Honestly this guy just pisses me off. I have no idea how you screw this job up this bad. I wanted him to make the Tourney this past year, and he did, however he bows out in the 2nd round. As if that isn't bad enough, he only lands 1 Freshman, has 7 scholarship players on his roster and the Prestige has dropped from 92 to 81.... Ya Id say its time to part ways with a guy that has great ratings as a coach. It will be interesting to see where he lands next season.
Providence- Richard Leija- Providence has gone down each of the past 3 years, however it hasn't been that bad, and I don't mind giving this guy a few more chances/ seasons. They aren't getting blown out and have been right in the thick of things in the Big East. I mean we are talking about Providence here, so that isn't too shabby.
Rutgers- Isiah Morley- Was pleased with his first season as the team fell 1 win short of the most wins in a season in school history. If he can sustain that progress over 4 years he is gonna make me look like I knew what I was doing during the hiring phase.
Seton Hall- Maynard Obryan- The Hall had its worst season ever under Maynard, but I was sort of expecting that. This job right now is a rebuild so he has some time, however his class wasn't all that great this year, but if they develop to their strengths it wont be a bad first one.
South Florida-Stanford Ericson- Again I am tickled to death with him. He got hosed by not getting invited to IAAUS tourney last season. The team has just improved by leaps and bounds under him. I hope they can continue it!
St. John's- Chris Killingsworth- Another 1st year guy that started off hot. St. John's had the most wins in a season in school history under Killingsworth. They aren't anywhere near what I want them to be, yet there is hope and a future I believe with Chris at the helm.
Syracuse- Jacinto Gomez-Really no need to go into anything with him. He continues to be a great coach and win games. Another Sweet 16 loss for him this past season (his 2nd) however thats the worst he has done in the tournament in 5 years. Cant be mad at that!
Villanova- Edward Shade- I cant help but think if Villanova would be better off with someone else in charge. Again he does fine in the regular season (126-43) however when he gets into the postseason his teams fizzle out so bad that I sit here and question the man.... He had an ok recruiting class this year but its not where it should be..... Ill give him another year and well see where we stand after this season with him.
15. West Virginia- James Johnson- Had a disappointing year by his standards (got bounced in the 2nd round of the IAAUS) but I mean when you already have 3 National Titles in 5 years to your name, what do you expect?? I doubt he goes anywhere :)

Hey muns, nice idea. Wish you'd have went with the Big Twelve instead of the Big East. lol. any chance I can get in on this as one of the coaches?
So i have 3 jobs to fill and I'm not sure If I even want to use the same candidate pool as last time.
In looking over things again, I do not want to use the same pool. I take a few guys out, and actually add a few more to my list.
The Assistants:
West Virginia's Daniel Hansen who has ratings of 10,10,2,9
Duke's Assistant and Former Michigan Head Coach Daniel Bullington who has ratings of 10,10,5,6
Ohio States Daron Montes who has ratings of 9,7,9,5
LSU'S Bobby Decastro who has ratings of 10,2,7,4
The Head Coaches
UNC Asheville Head Coach Kelly Rochester- Ratings of 9,4,9,2 and is 87-74 with 2 trips to the IAAUS tournament
UC Irvine Head Coach Gabriel Ware- Ratings of 10,1,7,6 and is 32-32
Georgia State Head Coach David Rainer- Ratings of 10,10,8,2 and is 82-75 with a IAAUS tourney bid and an NIT bid
Butler Head Coach Booker Duck- Ratings of 10,6,2,10 and is 116-52 with 1 Conference Title and a final 4 & a Sweet 16 appearances
Siena Head Coach George Savoy- Ratings of 6,10,6,4 and is 105-57 with 2 IAAUS bids and a NIT bid
Old Dominion Head Coach Robert Dutcher- Ratings of 2,10,10,6 and is 117-50 with 1 IAAUS trip and 3 NIT trips
Drake Head Coach Curt Wells- Ratings of 10,7,5,7 and is 91-67 with 3 NIT appearances
Sam Houston State Head Coach Brian Batista- Ratings of 4,4,10,10 and is 108-61 with 4 Nits trips and a IAAUS first round exit.
Stephen F. Austin and Michael Cothran- Ratings of 5,3,10,9 and is 112-53 with 2 conference titles, 2 NIT trips, and 2 IAAUS tirps
Utah State Head Coach Gary Martinez- Ratings of 9,4,10,4 and is 123-49 with 3 conference titles, 2 IAAUS trips (including a sweet 16 appearance) and 3 NIT trips.
Hey muns, nice idea. Wish you'd have went with the Big Twelve instead of the Big East. lol. any chance I can get in on this as one of the coaches?
Sure no problem at all. Do you want to start off as an assistant and try to work your way up, an assistant at a big time program, or a head coach at a small school?
Just give me a name an age and then one of those 3 choices and ill input ya.
Lol sorry about the big 12 but ya im actually wishing I did the big 10 now instead, as there are so many teams in the Big East, but i get to play around more this way too

Let's go with an assistant at a big time program, then hopefully within a couple years I'll be a head coach at a small school and work my way up so that you'll hire me in the Big East.

Awesome, I have you in the game, I just need to pick the other 3 coaches in the Big East and ill let you know where you landed
I think I have found the 3 guys that I want to take over these 3 good programs. There was some hard choices, however in the end I feel like these 3 are the best fits for each individual program.
Cincinnati- I went with Utah State Head Coach Gary Martinez- He has a recruiting rating of 9 which is up there, but then he can develop the "O" like mad(10 rating), but yet is still ok with developing the "D" (4 rating). He also isnt too shabby in the stats deparment going 123-49 with 3 conference titles, 2 IAAUS trips (including a sweet 16 appearance) and 3 NIT bids. Im hoping that post season success can rub off in Cinncy.
Marquette- I went with Duke's Assistant and Former Michigan Head Coach Daniel Bullington who I think just got jobbed out of his former head coaching job at Michigan. His ratings are perfect for a University that used to be a top 25 program that needs its luster returned and quickly. He has the experience and ratings that I think will get the job done in Marquette.
Pittsburgh- Last up I chose Butler Head Coach Booker Duck- In order for Pitt to be where it should be I was looking for a guy that could recruit (he can 10 rating there) and also develop the talent on "D" (he has a 10 rating there as well). Not only does he have the ratings to compete in the Big East he comes in as one of the more accomplished lower conference head coaches. He has already reached a Sweet 16 and a Final 4 in his 5 years of coaching. He comes into the best situation as Pitt has a decent roster this year.
As a side note the other coaches that nearly had jobs were:
Siena Head Coach George Savoy- Ratings of 6,10,6,4 and is 105-57 with 2 IAAUS bids and a NIT bid
Georgia State Head Coach David Rainer- Ratings of 10,10,8,2 and is 82-75 with a IAAUS tourney bid and an NIT bid
Ohio States Daron Montes who has ratings of 9,7,9,5
I forgot to list the teams that have changed Conferences so far since I do have Conference Movement on limited.
2011- East Tennessee State went from the Atlantic Sun to the Southland
2011- Central Arkansas went from the Southland to the Atlantic Sun
2012- BYU went from the Mountain West to the Pac-10
2012- Oregon State went from the Pac-10 to the Mountain West
2013- Belmont went from the Atlantic Sun to the Sun Belt
2013- Louisiana Monroe went from the Sun Belt to the Atlantic Sun
Major Coaching Changes
ACC
Boston College fires Steven Johnson who was 85-72. Oregon at that point said thank you and hired him. Then BC goes out and hires Former Cincy Coach (who I just fired) Cristobal Malone who is 83-82.
Big 12
Colorado Hires Justin Wadsworth (due to their HC retiring) who was 56-99 at Wyoming.
Iowa State Fires Orlando Wooster for going 76-80 and hires Jimmy Pichardo from Marshal who is 86-74.
Oklahoma fires Chris Wetzel who went 94-70 (had a horrible season last year going 9-22) however he gets hired by Washington State on the spot. They replace Wetzel with former Marquette Coach Jeramy Belt.
Big 10
Ohio State hires former Pitt Coach Leland Ward as their HC retired.
Penn State hires Antonio Jones who went 75-86 at Detroit (thier old HC retired)
Pac-10
Oregon Fires Brooks Olson for going 68-90. As I already highlighted he came from Boston College
Washinton State hires Chris Wetzel as I have already talked about this one too
SEC
South Carolina fires Kevin Callen for going 86-70 (who then Valpo hires) and Hires Andrew Concepcion who was the Head Coach at Creighton (he went 93-69 there)

Just so you know, I didnt pick where you landed.... I had you go through the normal assistant coaching hiring process and it just worked out for you :)

To Start out the year we have 6 teams in the top 25
5. WVU
9. UCONN
10. Syracuse
11. Georgetown
15, Louisville
17. Notre Dame
And coming in at #23 We have Recruiting Coordinator Mike Schaplowsky and his Baylor Bears
I think we are going to have a real dog fight for the Big East crown this year. From the Looks of the rosters we have some really strong teams, including teams that arent in the top 25. A good 8-9 teams have a shot at winning it, and if they play to their rosters potential make the tourney. Should be another fun season.
Well this is where I'm going to leave off for the night.
Standings before the Big East Tourney starts.
It was close just like I thought with 1 game separating 4 teams from first and 2 games separating 6 teams from first.
I was proud of Seton Halls bounce back year along with St. Johns....
Teams that I wished did better were underachieving South Florida, Pittsburgh and Providence.
The Providence coach isnt looking too good at the moment
http://i924.photobucket.com/albums/ad83/muns13/bigeaststandings4.jpg
Almost forgot
In the final Polls before the Conference Tourneys, Recruiting Coordinator Mike Schaplowsky and his Baylor Bears are ranked 20th as they went 22-8 on the year good for 4th place in the Big 12
WVU beats Georgetown for the Big East title... Lets see how many we get in.
Im going to guess 7 as I dont think we have much after that this year.
Big East gets 7 teams.... spot on there but we werent the best like last season
ACC gets 7 teams
Big 10 gets 6 teams
Big 12 gets gets 7 teams
SEC gets gets 7 teams
PAC-10 gets 5 teams

Heck of a season Notre Dame had, just sucks they had to go out to another Big East team, but the more I think about it, they would have had to played someone from the Big East as I have 3 out of the Final 4 Teams!!!!
Doing Big things this season!!!!!!
Final 4 and Championship
#2 Syracuse Vs #2 Seed Georgetown
#1 Michigan State vVs #1 Seed WVU
The Cuse beat Georgetown 74-66
and Unfortunately WVU looses to Michigan State 60-73
The final state is set
Syracuse Vs. Michigan State for the TITLE!!!!!
Boy another letdown....... Michigan State humbles the Orange 87-82. The difference in the game was the free throws as State made 21-35 and Syracuse made 14-22
The Big East goes home without a title 2 year in a row
NIT
#1 Pitt Vs. #1 Xavier
Xavier takes it 87-55. Wow that was a let down, getting crushed like that to be in the Championship game.....
Pitt then turns around and beats Utah State for 3rd place
Before I roll the season over I also wanted to note that Syracuse and Notre Damn each put a Senior on the First team All American teams, and Notre Damn laid claim to having the National Player of the year :)
Georgetown put their Starting Point on the All American Freshman squad
So the Recruiting Evals came out today, and I Couldnt be any happier. The Big East just wiped the floor with it all IMHO
3 classes in the top 10.....4 in the top 15.... 9 in the top 50.....
I really think DePaul is coming a long way with the recruits they have signed the past 2 years.
While Rutgers class looks good, they arent a great class. Few role players, but for a team that needs to get the roster filled out that isnt bad at all
UCONN is going to be a monster in 4 years with those 5 guys... Yikes.
Hope these kids all pan out for the Conference

What are the in-game mechanics of managing the conference in this way? Loving the dynasty! Wouldn't mind somementions of key/interesting recruit as they progress thru their careerss, etc. If you're up for it (but it is certainly not essential!).

Thanks for following along RPI. I think I could highlight a few key players on the season. I just gotta remember to do it :)
Its actually not tough to do this at all. You just have to stop right after you roll the season over (before you hit conf movement). Thats when I make the coaching choices and when I go in and manually edit the coaches ( you have to make them human at that point so they show up under the human control menu on the left hand side of the game) that I want to hire. At that point you then have to make the old coaches that you dont want resign ( there is no fire button) and then hire the coaches that you added as human controlled for the team(s) that you just made the coaches resign from.
That might seem confusing, but its really not. Let me know if that made any sense to you at all.
Big East Evaluation of Coaches
Cincinnati-Gary Martinez- Gary didn't have too too bad of a year in his first with Cincinnati. He went 13-18 (9-9) and was more a victim of scheduling tough teams like an idiot instead of some cup cakes because he didn't have a talent laden team. I only wanted him to finish up 500 ball in conf last year and he did do that. I hoped he would have started off better recruiting wise, but it wasn't meant to be. He landed 3 guys (2 role players) and 6'10 Freshman Clement Fernandez who if develops should be able to score and defend.
Connecticut-Devin Foust- Devin made and Elite 8 trip this past season which is a major improvement from his previous 2 years of 2nd rounds and outs. His recruiting class was #1 in the land and should have a very dangerous team in the near future. He landed the overall number 2 and 6th rated recruits and the other 3 were all top 100. C- William Hamlet (#2 rated) is just going to be an absolute beast. He is already rated yellow with a blue potential. One Training camp could possibly get him to at least green. Devin is doing a nice job with UCONN
DePaul-Freeman Wallace- This is going to be Freeman's 3rd season at DePaul. He has had close to the same overall record his first two years 7-23 and 7-25, but again we all knew going into this that this was a total rebuild job. The sophomores and Freshman he has on his roster are all yellow or green potential rated so he has been doing his job in that department. He just needs to get them competitive and once that happens hopefully the better recruits start to follow. 3 of his 4 freshman he recruited last year started so that says a lot of where this program was at when he was handed it. Freshman PG Buddy Frey averaged 11.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 3 turnovers a game last year, and in the Big East as a freshman that isn't bad at all.
Georgetown- Ken Ortiz- Last season I talked about how Ken was close to loosing his job. Boy did he just take that and shove it in my face this year. Not only did Georgetown finish 2nd in the Big East Standings but he finally got them out of the stinking 1st and 2nd round of the IAAUS tournament. Hey if calling him out is what it takes to make a Final 4 run, consider this his second wake up call. It needs to keep HAPPENING!!!! He also went out and got the 13th ranked class highlighted by C- Harvey Anderson. He is rated yellow/ Blue and is going to be able to score inside, rebound and block some shots. G-town is finally back to where I think they should be.
Louisville- Daniel Eakin- Daniel has now been at Louisville for the past 3 seasons and I can honestly say that he was a good hire before my arrival. They have improved in each of the seasons he has been there win wise, and has made the Tourney the past 2 seasons in a row, something that hasn't been done there before his arrival. He hasn't had the top recruiting classes in the world (although this seasons 35th isn't bad) however the guys he has brought in have developed so he has been able to get the most of of them. Id love for him to keep getting better classes, but if he keeps finding diamonds in the rough, why brake what doesn't need to be fixed.
Marquette- Daniel Bullington- Struggled in his first season but again that was to be expected. They won 12 games, however only managed to get 3 Big East wins. He will prob get more time than most because they didn't have any scholarships to go out and recruit this past season. So his rebuild job will technically start this upcoming season. I still think he can do the job here.
Notre Dame-David Scott- Another year, another Elite 8 trip. The Past 4 years are just amazing. Elite 8, Elite 8, Championship, and Sweet 16. He lost most of his good players to graduation this year including the player of the year, so its going to be interesting to see how he progresses over the past few years as I think he has lost some recruiting battles. Nothing to be overly concerned about, but its something to keep an eye out for.
Pittsburgh-Booker Duck- Booker looks like a good hire at the moment. I thought Pitt had the talent to make a post season tournament and they just missed the big dance and got a #1 seed in the NIT instead. What really give me hope about getting PITT back to elite basketball status is that in his first year Booker was able to snag the 27th best class in the land. Freshman SG Edwin Williams can shoot the ball and comes into his first season with a 9 rating on his jumper. Pitt should expect to have a down year this year but its expected due to the old coach not being able to recruit despite his 10 rating.
Providence- Richard Leija- So last year I said I wouldn't mind giving him a few more chances to improve. He has been here 4 years and in each they seem to continue to take a step backwards however they have still been competitive. Then this year hits and he only wins 12 games. So I'm thinking ok ok, maybe one more year right?? Then I take a look at what he did recruiting wise and he brought in the 286 best class. His best recruit is a 2 star. Regretting I didn't pull them plug on his ass last year. New coaching coming up for Providence!
Rutgers- Isiah Morley- Isiah has a tough road ahead of him with Rutgers. He didn't start off recruiting well last year, but bounced back a bit this year. He was able to land 4 players and for a team that doesn't have many scholarship guys on the roster thats was huge. I don't like a lot of them, and they are role players but bodies are bodies at this point. He did snag Freshman Center Scott Jackson who was rated 105 that should get some major PT right away, so it will be fun to see how he progresses. Just need him to keep landing recruits to fill up the roster, but I dint expect him to go in the near future
Seton Hall- Maynard Obryan- Maynard bounced back this season after a rough first one going 19-14 (9-9) and making the NIT. He gets guys to develop but doesn't seem to be able to recruit a whole lot. He landed an ok class his first year, and they have developed better than expected and this years class while ranked 80th, its not deep with only 2 guys. The 1 kid however is going to be a stud. PG Antoine Bennett is a slasher that can also pull up and hit a J in anyones face. I would expect him to come in and start right away. The future of the "Hall" may very well rest on Bennetts future. I'm hoping that they just go 500 ball in the Big East this year.
South Florida-Stanford Ericson- He had a very down year last year going 14-16 (5-13) and I honestly cant give anyone a reason on why that happened. He had the talent and the roster to continue to make a post season tourney for the 3rd straight year, but they choked it up somehow. His job is nowhere near being in jeopardy but it was disappointing to see the collapse unfold. Junior C Julian Bookman (who he recruited) is a beat and averaged 19.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 2.5 turnovers a game as a sophomore last year. No doubt in my mind he needs the ball more and Stanford should just ride his coat tails for the next 2 seasons cause the kid can flat out play.
St. John's- Chris Killingsworth- Chris is a guy that has done wonders at St. Johns already (2 seasons) He has presided over the best 2 year stretch in the history of the program and it doesn't look to slow down anytime soon. They went 16-16 last season (first time they haven't had a loosing season) and he was able to bring in 4 role players as freshman. His classes haven't been all that good but he seems to get the most out of his players on the court. I'm really hoping that the players start coming because it would be ashame for the turnaround to stop after 3 years.
Syracuse- Jacinto Gomez- All this guy has done is win.... ALL I DO IS WIN WIN NO MATTER WHAT (sorry went off on a T-Pain song/reference if anyone knows who he is in real life) His past 6 seasons look like this. Loss in the IAAUS title game, Sweet 16, Final 4, Final 4, Elite 8, Sweet 16. He runs one of the most consistent programs in the country and landed another studly class this past season that was rated 9th in the country. He prob has his job for life if he keeps going the way he is! Id expect them to compete for the big east title again and another deep run in the tourney.
Villanova- Edward Shade- This is what I wrote on him last year
I cant help but think if Villanova would be better off with someone else in charge. Again he does fine in the regular season (126-43) however when he gets into the postseason his teams fizzle out so bad that I sit here and question the man.... He had an ok recruiting class this year but its not where it should be..... Ill give him another year and well see where we stand after this season with him.
After another season again I'm not sure what the heck to do with him. They had a fantastic regular season 25-8 (14-4) but he always seems to loose in the first or 2nd round of the IAAUS tourney (no different this year 2nd round exit). I mean in his 6 years they have only been out of the 2nd round once!!! Luckily for him he can recruit and this past season he did a hell of a lot better job than he did last year. He landed the 4th best class in the nation this year, highlighted by PF-Joeseph Pike (who is going to just be dropping bombs on people shooting wise). Is it better to stick with him or change him now and bring in someone that can develop these Freshman to actually win games???
15. West Virginia- James Johnson- This guy is just like Jacinto Gomez at Syracuse possibly even better. He has now totaled 3 Championships and a Final 4 appearance in 6 seasons. he is 183-39 with 3 Big East Conference Championships. The knock on James is that he is streaky recruiting wise. One year he will land an unreal class, the next nothing.... They only had the 41st class this year and for him thats not going to get the job done for the future. However who is going to be pushing him out the door with those win totals?? Its not going to be me, I can tell you that much!
Just posted a new Poll asking what the heck do to with Edward Shade at Villanova.
Should I Fire Edward Shade at Villanova?? - Front Office Football Central (http://www.operationsports.com/fofc/showthread.php?t=80870)
I think im going to quit here for the night. I only have 1 coach to find a replacement for and I'm torn about what the heck to do with the above situation, so here is a good as a time to stop as any for the night.

Back by popular demand is Edward Shade. He doesn't have a ton of breathing room, but another year cant really hurt anybody right?
So that leaves me with only 1 job to fill which isnt bad. I was getting used to 3-4 a year, but I think most of the trash that was in the Big East is basically gone. Now its just the winners that are already in place and the new hires trying to make it big.
So I didnt even really have to look much to know who I was going with for the Providence job.
West Virginia's Daniel Hansen you will be the new Providence Head Coach. Daniel has had an interesting run of it so far in his career. He first started at Kentucky and had 2 top 25 recruiting classes however like most coaches there, they simply cant meet extremely high expecations.
After loosing his job there, he found a nice home at WVU where he spent 3 years. During that span he won a title and lost in another final 4.
His ratings are 10,10,2,9 and im hoping if given more time he can re produce those back to back top 25 classes he did at UK and turn Providences ship around.
First Name: Mike
Last Name: Schaplowsky
Age: 30
High School: Wichita West
City: Wichita
State: KS
Alma Mater: Wichita State
Not to forget about our boy Mike, he helped Baylor land the #32 rated class in the land which was good enough for 4th in the Big 12.
Coaching Changes
ACC
None
Big 12
Kansas State fired Ray Eley for going 123-77. He had 1 Conference Championship but had trouble getting out of the first round of the IAAUS (3 staright years led to his firing) Indiana then hires him to be their head coach
They then hired Josef Craighead from Auburn who is 104-87 in stints at Green Bay and Auburn.
Texas A&M fires Gavin Testerman for going 112-89 (Gavin then gets hired by Auburn) They then hire Kobe Reimer from Bradley who in stints at Bradley and Rider has gone 101-96.
Texas Tech's Head Coach retired and they make a horrible hire in Carson Perrin who went 70-113 in his 6 year career at Loyola (IL).
Big 10
Indiana- Fired Joe Allen for going 99-95 and Hired Ray Eley who I already talked about.
Pac-10
Arizona- Fires James Lucier after his failed attempt to jump into the big time from Utah State. He total record is 127-71 but only went 43-52 in his 3 years at Arizona. Funny enough they hire former Providecne coach who I just got rid of Richard Leija who is 94-100 on his career.
SEC
Vandy- Fired Justin Farmer who went 43-53 in his 3 years there. They hired Stuart Ferry from Southern Mississippi who has gone 134-72 with 2 Conference titles.
Not to forget about our boy Mike, he helped Baylor land the #32 rated class in the land which was good enough for 4th in the Big 12.
Mike stays with Baylor and the big 12. Prob the best thing for him. 1st year coaching and went to the 2nd round of the IAAUS Tournament. Getting some nice experience.
Conference Expectations
Cincy- Not a whole lot to work with this year. Just dont want them to finish last.
UCONN- Looks to continue the run they have been on. From the looks of it Freshman sensation C- William Hamlet looks to be 7th on the depth chart. Thats scary for how good this team already looks.
DePaul- Just looking for improvement and dont want to see them finish last. Sophmore PG Buddy Fey has already hit green bars and should be the player to watch on this squad.
Georgetown- Looks to be just as good as UCONN. Hoping for another deep run from them
Louisville- I like them to be the dark horse this year and sneek up on a few of the more talented teams. They dont have a ton of blue guys on the team (1 to be exact) but do have 6 greens.
Marquette- Just hoping for 500 ball for them
Notre Dame- Should be a major down year by their lofty standards. Id expect for them to be middle of the pack in the Big East
Pitt- They are going to be pretty bad this year too. 2 real players and nothing much after that
Providence- hoping for a 500 finish
Rutgers- Still in the middle of the total rebuild. Should be playing a lot of freshman this year. Freshman Scott Jackson is a name to watch out for.
Seton Hall- Could play sleeper this year too. Coach Maynard Obryan has been developing his guys like mad. Cant recruit much but gets the most out of em after Training camp.
South Florida- No reason why they cant be right up there for 4-5 place this season.
St. Johns- Nothing much Id like to hope middle of the pack, but ehhhh. Sophmore Center Jimmy Cloninger should make his mark starting this year
Syracuse- should compete with UCONN for the title
Villanova- they have 3 guys on academic probation to start the season. Might be a rough year for them this year.
WVU- Unless they land a huge class, this will more than likely be their last big time run at the Big East and the IAAUS.
Big East Standings before the conf Tourney
As you can tell it was really only a 2 team show. I think we lost the recruiting battles (besides last year) the past few years and its def starting to show.
Marquette was a good surprise.
The bad ones were Louisville, South Florida and WVU.
http://i924.photobucket.com/albums/ad83/muns13/bigeaststandings5.jpg
UCONN beats Villanova 108-69 for the Big East Title.
We only have 4 teams in the Top 15 going into the IAAUS Tourament
1. Syracuse
5. UCONN
18. Villanova
24. Georgetown
Tourament Teams
Big East- 5 Teams
ACC- 8 Teams
Big Ten- 3 Teams
Big 12- 5 Teams
Pac-10- 5 Teams
SEC- 5 teams
A lot of the little guys made this tourament this year. Will be interesting to see if any of them make it pretty high.

#1 Seed Syracuse beats #1 Seed Oklahoma State 88-77
So it looks like Syracuse is going to have a shot at winning that elusive National Championship against the team that beat them last year in the title game Michigan State.
They have made it to the Final 4 twice before and last season lost to Michigan State in the title game 87-82.
Should be a heck of a game
In looking at Michigan States roster, my gosh do they have one heck of a team. They have 6 guys on their roster that were top 10 recruits and 10 that are top 50.
Syracuse has 9 top 50 recruits but only 1 of them is a top 10 kid.
Michigan State end up winning back to back titles beating the Orange 69-64.
Syracuse just couldnt overcome the half time deficit they dug themselves. They were down 40-28 at half.
Overall a very dissapointing season in the Big East.
Only 5 teams making the tourney and 4 others making the NIT. Sending 9 to a post season is neat, however too many of them were playing in the NIT which means we arent getting the job done.
Of we didnt have UCONN and Syracuse our Conference wouldnt be in too good of a shape at the moment.
Pretty Happy with how recruiting turned out overall in the Big East. 5 teams in the top 25 with a 6th right on the cusp at 31.
Even the worst team Rutgers landed a 4 star recruit.
http://i924.photobucket.com/albums/ad83/muns13/bigeastrecruiting3.jpg
Next up evaluations of coaches, and I think thats gonna come later on, I want to watch some real ball today.
Big East Evaluation of Coaches
Cincinnati-Gary Martinez- Gary's first 2 years in Cincy have been a struggle. He went 14-17 this past year and 6-12 in Big East play. He Struggled again recruiting wise and only brought in PG Nevilled Goodrich who has a shot at starting next year. In 2 years total he has only brought in 4 players and 2 out of the 4 are role players at best. Freshman Center Clement Fernandez had a good year last year averaging 7.5 points, 5.4 rebounds while shooting 55%. I can see Gary getting the axe next year if he does a poor job of recruiting once again.
Connecticut-Devin Foust- Devin made another Elite 8 trip this past season (2 in a row) going 30-7 and 15-3 in the Big East. Sophomore PF William Hamlett (the overall number 2 recruit last season) averaged 19.8 mins, 4.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1 steal a game. Not to rest on his laurels Devin went out and snagged another nice recruiting class highlighted by overall number 1 recruit SG- Jayson Kreiger. Jayson and William together in 2 more years should prove to be a dymanic inside out combo that should be really exciting to watch mesh together. Devin just continues to bring in quality guys and continues to win ball games. If he keeps going like he is, he will end up being one of the top coaches when he in fact decides to give it up.
DePaul-Freeman Wallace- In his 3rd season all Freeman did was double their win total from last year going 15-18 and 7-11 in the Big East. I love the progress that DePaul has made in 3 years under Freeman. He didn't have any scholarships to hand out this year which hurts, however some of his guys have progressed nicely. PG- Buddy Fey (who Freeman snagged his first year) averaged 12.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.4 assists. I can only imagine he will be leaned on even more this upcoming year. To go along with Buddy, 2 more Juniors look to continue to help Depaul win ball games. SG- Westin James who averaged 13.5 points and 5.1 rebounds and C-Genaro Brown who averaged 6.5 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks want to become the 3 get Depaul over the hump this season. I would hope a .500 conf wining % shouldn't be that big of a step and am hoping they can do that this year.
Georgetown- Ken Ortiz- Following Ken's magical Final 4 run of 2 years ago, he got bounced in the 2nd round this year which was disappointing. He has a good group of Sophomores and Freshman coming up highlighted by #7 overall recruit this year C-David Ellis. Ellis will more than likely be asked to play around 20 mins a game this year as G-Town is short in depth down low. Ken is fine job wise, I hated to see him go out in the 2nd round this year but that Final 4 run should buy him a few more years to see how his past 2 classes turn out. I would expect to see Georgetown continue to press for a Big East title and make runs into the IAAUS tournament.
Louisville- Daniel Eakin- Louisville took a step back this past season under Daniel who is in his 4th season. They had the talent to do a lot of damage but grossly underachieved all of the season. Going 15-17 and 8-10 in the Big East just isn't going to cut it, however Daniel can recruit and he has continued to keep the ship going up wards rather than heading down the way some of my other programs have turned. I expect them to turn things around for this upcoming season and make the tourney. Again the talent is there, the depth is there, (he has 6 Seniors this year that can all play) now the coaching needs to make it all happen.
Marquette- Daniel Bullington- Had a great season this past year in his 2nd with the team. Going 21-16, 10-8 in the Big East and finishing up in 3rd place at the NIT was a nice step in the correct direction for the program. Daniel also landed the 25th best recruiting class in the country and although all 5 guys are rated 3 stars, I can tell you there is a lot of excitement about them. None are superstars but they all look to have the skill set to compliment one another as they look to be the 5 that turns this program back around. I don't expect a whole lot from Marquette this year as Junior SG- Frank Piper is really the only true player the squad has. Frank averaged 12.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.4 steals a game last season.
Notre Dame-David Scott- David for the first time in his career lost in the first round of the IAAUS this past season. I knew it was going to be a down year for them but he still managed to go 20-14 and 11-7 in the Big East. If thats a down year, I guess Ill just have to manage. Notre Damn landed the 13th best recruiting class highlighted by the overall #19 recruit PF Erik Barnett, Erick quite possibly could start this year and is a guy to watch out for in the near future. I think Notre Damn will be decent this year, but again I'm not expecting an Elite 8. Another 20 win IAAUS appearance will be fine with the roster that he has.
Pittsburgh-Booker Duck- Booker Didn't have great year last season, and it seems was only able to land 1 recruit. Pitt has a total of 5 scholarship players on the team and that isn't going to cut it at all. Booker only landed 2 guys 2 years ago and 1 this year. So 3 guys in 2 years is a definite no no. If he has another bad year recruiting again no doubt in my mind he is gone.
Providence- Daniel Hansen- Daniel in his first season this year did OK. The long time WVU assistant went 12-8 and 5-13 in Big East play, but I knew this was going to be another rebuild job. I'm just hoping Daniel is the right guy to be able to do that with. Providence like Pitt has scholarship issues and only has 7 guys on the team. Daniel was able to snag 2 kids this class (good for 82nd) and I think I'm going to have to be patient here with this group. It will prob take another good 5-6 years before anything starts to happen.
Rutgers- Isiah Morley- Isiah landed a 4 star recruit this year in PG-Eifran Campion. While he isn't going to be the savior of the program he needs to be the building block. Isiah has struggled recruiting in the Big East and this year will be his 4th year in Rutgers. While I don't see me getting rid of him next year, but if he doesn't start to improve this squad I do see it happening sooner rather than later. Sophomore Center Scot Jackson didn't do bad his first year as he started every game lat year and was able to score 10 points and grab 4 boards a game. Those numbers should rise again this year and he can play some ball.
Seton Hall- Maynard Obryan- The guy that I was most concerned about giving a team on my first wave of hires is doing th best I'd say. Maynard has turned the program around in his 3 years, and has actually gotten the Hall to the NIT in back to back years, the only 2 years Seton Hall has ever been to a post season. Sophomore PG- Andre Bennett started all 31 games last year as a freshman and did exactly what Maynard wanted him to do. I would expect the former all Florida kid to continue to improve his game and help propel Seton Hall forward in their quest to make the IAAUS Tournament. If Maynard has another nice recruiting class this year that could be a very possibility the following season.
South Florida-Stanford Ericson- This could very well be his last year in South Florida. He has flat out prob had the best post player in the conf the past 3 years and hasn't done much with him. In fact they were better before he showed up. Very Frustrating. Center Julian Booker averages 18 points down almost 2 from last year and about 9 boards a game. Ericson has had the talent the past 2 years to go to the dance and all he could do was string together two bad seasons going 14-16 and then 16-18. He better have a much better year this year or he is out next year, no doubt about it.
St. John's- Chris Killingsworth- Chris had a down year last year going 9-23 and 5-13 in the Big East. Ill give Chris a pass from last season as he did produce the best 2 seasons ever in St. Johns history before that. This is his 4th year and while they aren't where I hoped they would be, they certainly have improved, and have improved enough to where I don't think he is going anywhere anytime soon. he pulled in a decent class this year with the 78th rated class, and thats a huge improvement to the guys he has brought in the past 2 seasons. Those guys are just role players however, if I'm being honest, at least he has brought in guys, where others that I have talked about have struck out and are in worse shape than St. John's. I'm hoping for a .500 finish from them this year.
Syracuse- Jacinto Gomez- I feel bad for Jacinto. Back to back title game losses is a tough pill for anyone to swallow. If that isn't bad enough whats worse is that it was to the exact same team both years. So you get your revenge shot and you come up empty, just sucks. He went 38-2 18-0 in the Big East last year and the man for his career is 223-40. I would expect the Cuse to be back in the title game here at some point but to expect it anymore is pushing it. He brought in the 3rd best class in the nation highlighted by SF-Ruiger Bohrer (#2 overall recruit) and Center Helmfried Hiller (#6 overall recruit). Both should come in a play right away however the Orange should be really strong again this year and it wouldn't surprise me if they get around 10 mins a game.
Villanova- Edward Shade- This piece of crap did exactly like he always does and goes out and takes the "L" in the first round of the IAAUS Tournament again. That makes it 6 out of 7 years that he has either lost in the first or 2nd round. He brought in another 2 good recruits however threw a scholarship away on a horrible guy. I'm tired of it and I'm tired of him. If I can find a guy thats suitable, Edward is gone now. If I can't he gets himself another year and then I try to find someone else again if he cant improve himself in the post season.
West Virginia- James Johnson- I knew it was going to be a down year for WVU last year and it was. They made it to the NIT on a 21-14 record and lost in the 3rd round of it. He brought in the 67th best class and I am starting to feel WVU slip a bit in terms of where the program stands nationally. They have been loosing recruiting battles right and left lately, and they just don't have the same quality kids they are used to having there. Hopefully he starts to right the ship again as WVU has become a flag ship program in the Big East. Their 100 Prestige rating of 5 years in a row is pretty impressive and they should not be missing out on great recruits. Keeping an eye out here.
Ive decided to let Edward Shade stay at Villanova.
I like Duke's Assistant James Lucier and im hoping the AI doesnt snatch him up somewhere else this year, as I'm taking a gamble by letting him sit and keeping the other guys I have. Loyality can bite me in the butt I think this year.
Coaching Moves
ACC
Maryland- Fires James Russell who went 130-103 in his seven seasons. They hired Mckinley Acosta from Arkansas who went 131-105.
Virginia Tech- Fired Ned Morrell who went 118-106 and then he gets hired at Houston. VT then hires James Russell who was just fired at Maryland. That should be fun trying to get revenge in your own conference.
Big 12
No moves
Iowa- Former Big East Coach Jackie Correal retired. Iowa hires William Shackelford from San Diego State who went 143-87 there. Pretty damn good hire for Iowa.
Purdue- Fires Alexander Render for going 41- 52 in his 3 seasons there. They hire Ralph Langston from Southern Illinois who went 70-61 along with 2 trips to the IAAUS tourney in his 4 seasons. Real interesting hire here.
PAC-10
California- Fires Dennis Colvin who went 93-71 and struggled the past 2 seasons only winning 9 games total in the Pac-10. Colvin then gets hired by LSU. Cali turns to Clemente Lopez who has turned Hofstra around big time. At Hofstra they went 79-44 progressing from the CBI, to the NIT to the IAAUS Tourament. I think its a reach for Cali however he does have the interesting past to make the jump here.
Oregon- Fired Steven Johnson who they just hired 2 seasons ago for going 26-37. They hired David Rainer who has been on my darn shortlist from Georgia State who has gone 108-113.
SEC
Arkansas- Fires Mckinley Acosta who got hired at Maryland and they bring in Grover Beene who went 131-108 at TCU. This guy is going to be a stud. His ratings are 10,10,10 5. Should be fun to see what he does there. He is old at age 60 though.
Georgia- Joseph Aslap retires. They hire Cordell Thornton who went 86- 46 in four seasons at UTEP.
LSU- Fires Charles Ruby who went 128-100 in his 7 seasons there. They hired former Cali coach Dennis Colvin.
My gamble has paid off as James Lucier does in fact stay at Duke which means he is ripe for the picking next year if I choose to do so, and then our own Mike Schaplowsky is still at Baylor in his last season there.
Baylor has made the IAAUS tourament the past 2 years (2nd round each year) and it will be interesting to see where Mike lands after his contract is up this year.
The Big East has 5 teams ranked in the top 25 to start the season.
2. Syracuse
6. UCONN
14. Georgetown
16. Louisville
24. WVU
Still waiting for one of my hires to get a program up and running and make it into the polls. I fear its going to be many more years before that ever happens though
Final Big East standing before the Big East tourney
South Florida played to where it could, even though it should have been better, and I still like what Seton Hall is doing.
Depaul had its first winning season in a while.... Some good stuff at the top and the middle. The bottom half sucks, im just hoping the recruiting was good this year for them.

Before I roll the season over I also wanted to note that Syracuse and Notre Damn each put a Senior on the First team All American teams, and Notre Damn laid claim to having the National Player of the year :)
Glad I'm not the only one who types it out that way nearly every time :D Good read! (ahem, go ACC).
UCONN beats Syracuse 91-90 for the Big East crown
Glad I'm not the only one who types it out that way nearly every time :D Good read! (ahem, go ACC).
I'm starting to go blind(not literally, but you know what I mean) so its a lot easier on my eyes to try to keep it that way

Big 12- gets 6 in
Big 10- gets 4 in

As I was looking through the awards I noticed that the Big East has won the National Player of the year 4 years stright
2017- Carl Coffin WVU
2016- Armando Sly Syracuse
2015- Andrew Gillette
2014- Avery Mcnutt Syracuse
Neat stuff there
Well this season was a dissapointment
None of our schools made it out of the Sweet 16 including 2 of our Power houses in UCONN and Syracuse. Lousiville won the NIT, which proved they should have been in the tourney so that was nice, however they should have made the tourney and they need to win some more big games.
Clearly Edward Slade is a freaking problem with Nova, I just need to find the right guy to replace him there, and I think some of my early hires 4 seasons ago arent living up to expectations, so there should be some choices to make there as well.
Should be an interesting offseason with who stays and who goes in the Big East.
Color me shocked with this years recruiting class rankings. Im estatic about them.
Not only do we have the number 1 overall class again, but 4 are in the top 25, 8 are in the top 50's, and 13 ranked in the top 100......
Providence at 25 just blows me away, then you have the St, Johns, the Cincinnattis, the Rutgers, all out recruiting Georgetown, Syracuse and WVU. Thats just nutty!!!!

Coach Evaluations are next, however def want to watch some ball again tonight, not sure if going to continue this tonight or not.
Big East Evaluation of Coaches
Cincinnati-Gary Martinez- Gary's job is safe this year after he improved in the big east by 2 games going 8-10 respectively. More importantly however was his ability to land a good recruiting class (40th in the nation) and in that class are 3 kids vs his 1 or 2 he has been getting. The continued development of Center Clement Fernandez is huge as he averaged 11.5 points, 6 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.1 steals per game. Prized recruit in last years class PG Neville Goodrich didn't make the splash I was hoping, however he did get 16 mins per game and averaged a little over 5 points in those mins. I hope Gary continues to improve the Bearcats and gets them close to .500 in the Big East. We are starting to get to the point where I'm going to have to make a call here soon if I think he is the correct coach to lead the program back to the big time. Hopefully for his sake these freshman develop some, and he bring in another good class this year.
Connecticut-Devin Foust- UCONN had a down year for them last season. Getting bounced in the 2nd round of the IAAUS Tournament isn't fun but in 2 years Devin has won 60 games. Thats awfully tough to do. He brought in 5 recruits this season and 4 of them look to be pretty good. Combine this years number 1 overall recruiting class with last years 10th overall and the future is still really bright in Connecticut. PF William Hamlett didn't have the impact I expected him too have last year in his starting role only getting 6 points, 8 boards and a block per game. I would hope all of those numbers improve this year to help UCONN take that step back to the Elite 8's that I am accustomed to them doing year in and year out.
DePaul-Freeman Wallace- Freeman showed why he was the correct choice hiring him 4 years ago. In his 4th year DePaul won 17 games (the most ever in its history) and went to the NIT (the first ever post season in the programs history). This years recruiting class didn't rank all that well 92nd overall, however 2 of the guys should develop into guys that will play roles on the team (SF- Christian Fergueson and SG-Chester Williard). Even if Freeman stumbles his job should be safe for the time being. They keep improving every year he is here and since the program was 5-27 when he got hired DePaul has come a long long way. Who knows, he keeps going like this and he may get promoted within his own Conference!!!
Georgetown- Ken Ortiz- Georgetown continues to get higher under Coach Ken Ortiz. Last seasons Sweet 16 finish was the 2nd of his career and he now holds an overall record of 202-82. I don't see why G-Town doesn't continue to develop and keep making deep runs into the IAAUS tournament. I was however concerned about his 104th rated recruiting class but upon closer inspection the guys are pretty good and I expect them to make an impact on the program in the near future. They aren't throwaway's like I thought. Ken just needs to keep being Ken and he won't be going anywhere.
Louisville- Daniel Eakin- I'm not all that sure that Eakin is the correct fit for the Cardinals program. I think he was a good hire (before I got here) however he has these ups and downs that shouldn't happen at a consistently dominant program, a Program that Louisville should be. In his 5 years they have missed the post season twice, gone to the NIT (last season and won it) once, and have only made the IAAUS twice getting knocked out in the first and 2nd rounds. His record at Louisville is 100-66 going 42-48 in Big East play. Nothing Stellar about his record in the Big East. I think I'm going to shop around and see if I can find someone better. If I can't he will be back or there is also a possibility of a move within the Conference. I'm kicking around a few ideas on how to re shuffle a few guys and he might be in that group.
Marquette- Daniel Bullington- Not a whole lot I can say about Marquette. Daniel didn't exactly come when the cupboard was full if you know what I mean. He landed the 25th class 2 years ago, and now this year nets the 127th. Clearly a step in the wrong direction especially since one of the kids this year was a 2 star waste of a scholarship. Still have a few more years until I can really evaluate where the program is and how much of an impact, good or bad Bullington has had. He more than likely has 2 years left before I look to decide on his future.
Notre Dame-David Scott- Back to back first round losses for Notre Damn the past 2 seasons. Is it time to panic???? For me no, however the Notre Damn faithful have been going nuts about it..... Why in the world would I get rid of a guy that has 199 career wins and a title under his belt??? I simply wouldn't. On the flip side of that I wouldn't say I wouldn't give him another job...... There might be some room to play around here coaching wise and like I said earlier I maybe moving some guys around and David could be on that shortlist.
Pittsburgh-Booker Duck- Booker is gone.... A promising young coach really has pissed away a great opportunity to become the savior for a once Proud Proud program.... Booker hasn't recruited well in his 3 seasons. Granted the quality of kids that he was able to get where great, but landing 3kids in 3 years just cant happen and that is why there will be a new coach with the Panthers next season.
Providence- Daniel Hansen- I love what Providence has done in the 2 years under Hansen. No they haven't wont a lot of games, a total of 22 in 2 seasons, however he has recruited his butt off, and recruiting a top 25 class this year to go along with 4 star recruit(last season) PG Isiah James and you can see this team on the up and up. Hopefully the recruiting trend continues and he can land another great class to go with what he already has. This team only has 7 scholarship kids on the roster so he can leave a huge imprint quickly and right the ship. I am enjoying Daniel so far.
Rutgers- Isiah Morley- Isiah has never won more than 11 games in his 4 seasons in Rutgers and that is starting to become a major concern. One of my first hires in the Big East I had real high hopes for Isiah especially since he is at his alma matter. Nabbing the 46th best recruiting class this year helps, especially since they do not have a lot of depth, but if he cant start to put it together, he wont last more than 2 years, if he gets that. Isiah and Rutgers are on the fence and he very well might be out in a season or two if there are no real improvement in the win department.
Seton Hall- Maynard Obryan- I believe that Maynard has the Hall on the right path. This will be his 5th year and although he was an idiot an scheduled some tough road games last year, he did win 10 Big East games which is the most in programs history. The talent is on his roster this year and I'm hoping he can make a run at the IAAUS tournament. That would be huge for recruiting as he is going to loose 5 Seniors from his squad at the end of the year. He landed the 52nd best class this year, however they were only 2 kids in that class. This upcoming class will make or break this program. Is it on the rise??? Or will it tank and prob end his coaching career at Seton Hall in a few years??? Time will tell here.
South Florida-Stanford Ericson- Well Stanford did what I kind of asked him to do and he won this year. He ended up going 20-15, and 10-8 in the big east. The only problem with that was that he didn't win enough to make the IAAUS Tournament (which he should have, the talent was there) and he only won 1 game in the NIT. He time has run its course at South Florida but I can't help but think he would be ok somewhere else. His 111th recruiting class doesn't help the program or himself and I'm thinking that his 6 year run with South Florida has just ended.
St. John's- Chris Killingsworth- Chris had another good class, which makes that 2 years in a row. Finally St. Johns might start to be decent again. He started 3 freshman this past year and did bring in the 38th rated class this year. I'm not sure how its all going to pan out for him though. I can see him being here another 5 years, but then again I can see him being here another 2 and that being that. He actually has the talent to prob finish at least .500 in conf for this upcoming season, just not sure how he is going to fare because they are just so so young. Chris might be on his last leg with St. Johns.
Syracuse- Jacinto Gomez- He has finished with 30 win seasons 3 straight years and if it wasn't for a single season with 29 that would actually be 6 straight seasons. No doubt he is one of the best coaches in the game and a guy that will easily finish in the top 5 in just about every single coaching category there is. He prob will finish his career in an Orange Sports Coat as he can write his own ticket at this point I think. He didn't have a great recruiting class this year for the first time in his coaching stint, but his team is so talented I don't think its honestly going to matter much, especially if he makes up for it this upcoming season. I still see the Orange going deep in the big tourney.
Villanova- Edward Shade- Point blank his first round exit has sealed his fate at Nova, just not sure If I'm going to keep him on the Big East coaching roster though. He has done enough recruiting wise to be a valued member of the community, he just cant coach himself out of a wet paper bag come the IAAUS tournament time.
West Virginia- James Johnson- WVU made it to the Sweet 16 this past season even though they had no business doing so. James like Jacinto at Syracuse could prob write his own ticket with his 3 titles and walk into a hall of fame, but I'm not convinced WVU is the best fit for his talents. He hasn't recruited well as of late and while that isn't a reason for him to switch jobs, him being at a school that could use his talents is...... I'm not sure if He is going to get caught up in the shake up, but he is on my mind for it. I'm sure WVU fans would go nuts, but thats why I'm here doing what I'm doing and they are sitting at home :) Decisions decesions......
So this season we are going to have a coaching carousel in the Big East and my priorities are as follows
1. I am looking for a new coach at Nova and hoping I can retain Slade at another Big East School
2. I'm looking for a new coaching in Pittsburgh
3. If I can find one I'm looking for a new coach in South Florida
4. I am looking for a new coach in Louisville If I can find the right fit.
Possible candidate list
James Lucier- Assistant at Duke. Ratings of 8-5-10-10. Record of 121-71 at Utah State and Arizona. Was a beast at Utah State, however was just average at Arizona which is why they gave him his walking papers.
Jerry Lebron- Assistant at Tennessee. Ratings of 1-10-10-7 Record of 81-76. He spent 5 years at Murray State being just about 500 making the NIT once. At Tennessee he has helped get them to 3 straight Sweet 16 appearances.
Robert Dutcher- Head Coach at Old Dominion- Ratings of 2-10-10-6. Record of 185-87 in 8 seasons at ODU. He has a plethora of IAAUS tournament experience
John Gorman- Head Coach- UNC Wilmington- Ratings of 10-3-7-6. Record of 58-39. Only been a head coach for 3 seasons but has made the post seasons twice. Also worked at FSU and was part of 2 Elite 8 teams and 1 Sweet 16 team in 5 years as an assistant there.
Ray Bowyer- Head Coach Utah Valley State- Ratings of 6-2-10-9. Record of 161-91 with 6 post season trips to the NIT, 4IT, and 3BI.
Dean Castellano- Head Coach Butler- Ratings of 7-8-7-4. Record of 160-98 Between Santa Clara and Butler. Butler took him away from Santa Clara, he wasn't fired. Has been in the IAAUS tournament 4 times.
Elliot Wideman- Detroit Head Coach. Ratings of 6-8-5-10. Record of 169-91 with 3 different schools. Cal Northride, Nevada and now Detroit. All 3 he got hired and moved on. Has been to the IAAUS twice, NIT 3 times, and the 3BI twice.
Carl Young- Central Michigan Head Coach. Ratings of 6-6-10-6. Record of 144-114. He has been at Weber State and Central Michigan. Between the 2 schools has made 2 IAAUS trips, 2 NIT trips and a single 3BI trip.
Thomas Desilva-Sam Houston State Head Coach. Ratings of 6-1-8-10. Record of 190-77. Has made a post season every single year of his career that spans two schools Quinnipiac and Sam Houston State.
Michael Cothran Stephen F. Austin Head Coach- Ratings of 5-3-10-9. Record of 174-88. Has missed the post season only twice in his career at Steven F Austin.
Sylvester Jablonski-Arkansas-Little Rock Head Coach- Ratings of 7-2-10-6. Has only been a head coach for 2 years but has a record of 48-18 already. He also spent 6 years as an assistant at Florida and New Mexico making the IAAUS tournament in every season.
So after doing some thinking and searching I have made my decisions for the upcoming season in the Big East.
1. Pittsburgh- Ive gone and moved Edward Shade from Villanova to Pittsburgh. I actually think this might be a good fit. Edward was able to always recruit at Nova, and Pitt has really struggled to get kids the past 4 of so years. If Edward can recruit the way he did at Nova then this should work out and maybe he can finally get the heck out of my dog house.
2. Villanova- I am going to bring on James Lucier from Duke. James is a vet and I think he can do a good job with the Villanova squad already in place. The only question here is if he can do as good of a job recruiting as Edward Shade did. With an 8 rating in recruiting James seems like he can do it, but had a 9 and did bring in some decent classes..... Time will tell with this hire, but I'm Hopeful that James can do the job.
3. Louisville- I have decided to give Ray Bowyer the Head Coach at Utah Valley State the first crack at this job. Ray has won everywhere he has gone and has decent Ratings of 6-2-10-9. Louisville has a Prestige of 71 which is decent but needs to be better. Ray inherits a team that lacks depth but does have some talent. Hopefully Ray can do his work quickly as he will be under the microscope right away and won't have much wiggle room for error. I do not want this program to loose more ground than it already has.
4. South Florida- Thomas Desilva from Sam Houston State Head Coach seems to make the most sense to me here. With ratings of 6-1-8-10 and a record of 190-77 it's hard to argue on why he should not get hired. I love the fact that he has made the post season every year he has been coaching. They have some talent in South Florida but not enough. So essentially he won't be starting from scratch but he doesn't have a whole lot to work with either.
Coaching Changes
ACC
Maryland- Mickinly Acosta Retired. They hired recently removed Louisville Head Coach Daniel Eakin
Big 12
Corlorado- Fired Justin Wadsworth who went 37-57 in three seasons in Bolder. They hire former South Florida Coach Stanford Ericson
Big 10
None
Pac-10
None
SEC
None
Mike Schaplowsky stays on at Baylor for another year. I was surprised, I would have thought he would start to get looks for a head coaching jobs this year.
Big East starts the year off with 5 teams ranked in the top 25
5. Villanova
6. Syracuse
12.UCONN
15. Georgetown
16. Notre Dame
Michigan State starts off at number one and looking at their roster they are stacked as usual. 6 guys are all blues, 3 are green blues, 1 yellow blue, 2 orange greens, and one orange yellow.

I see you're still going strong, muns. Good stuff man. I need to get caught up.
Thanks guys. Its been really fun, and its nice knowing that people are reading. I apprecaite it!
Big East Standings
Needless to say that I am not all that shocked by the regular season standings this year. You have the usuals on top like we do every year so really no changes there.
I like the progress that both Seton Hall and Cincinnati have both made. At 9-9 in the Big East and then winning 17 and 18 games a piece, they have both come a ways from when their respective coaches took over.
I also feel good about Nova's record. I was worried about what was going to happen when I replaced Edward Shade however new coach James Lucier did a good job netting 22 wins
I hope Cincy and Seton Hall have a decent Big East tourney showing so that they have a shot at making the Big Dance. Rpi's are at 57, and 79 so its going to be tough

Funny I should mention that. Seton Hall takes the Big East on an amzing run in the tournament. They beat Notre Dame for the crown 92-91 who was the number 2 seed!
Neat stuff there!
Tourament Teams
Big East- 7 Teams
ACC- 8 Teams
Big Ten- 2 Teams (Lowest total for any major conf that I have EVER seen)
Big 12- 8 Teams
Pac-10- 4 Teams
SEC- 5 teams
Its also becoming clear to me that the ACC is just running the basketball world now. They are putting in the most teams in the the big dance year in and year out now.
NIT
#8 Pitt beats #9 Central Arkansas 97-59
#1 Cincinnati beats #8 Chattanooga 80-55
Cincy clearly was one of the last few teams out of the IAAUS show, which is a shame.

#11 Seton Hall beats #6 Virginia for a HUGE UPSET 85-75

#11 Seton Hall beats #7 Washington 80-78. This is just awesome to see!!
#9 Georgetown loses to #5 Xavier 79-88
While its a shame we couldnt get more into the elite 8 I think having 5 out of the 16 teams in this round is pretty damn good.
Elite 8
#7 WVU beats #8 USC 89-75
#11 Seton Hall gets crushed by #1 Clemson 95-59. Hell of a run by the Hall. From going from being on the bubble to winning the Big East to making an lite 8 run. Seton Hall has been a huge improvement!!!
Final 4
#7 WVU loses to #4 Wake Forest 88-91
#1 Clemson loses to #2 Michigan State 70-78
Championship Game
#2 Michigan State cruises past #4 Wake Forest 71-48.
So Michigan State continues it's dominance of the IAAUS.
The recruiting rankings to me are not what I was expecting at all. Its both good and bad.
DePaul at 22 is neat to see, so is Rutgers at 28 and Providence at 36. So our mid to bottom teams looks like they will be doing better in the future.
http://i924.photobucket.com/albums/ad83/muns13/recruitrankings12.jpg
Conference Movement that affects the Big East
Rutgers heads to the A-10 and moving up to the Big time is Temple
Rutgers has a Prestige of 51 and Temple has a Prestige of 93.
As I was looking through the awards I noticed that the Big East has won the National Player of the year 4 years stright
2017- Carl Coffin WVU
2016- Armando Sly Syracuse
2015- Andrew Gillette
2014- Avery Mcnutt Syracuse
Neat stuff there
Make this 5 straight years with WVU'S Junior PG Rocco Summerlin taking home the National Player of the year award again this year
In a stunning announcement The Big East will be looking for a new Conference Commish.
I have stepped down and turned in my resignation. In the end the IAAUS board of regents was not happy that the Big East was not the crown Jewel of the IAAUS basketball universe and there was some pressure on the Big East Board that if I did not step down I would be let go.
Go figure, the NCAA gets dis banded because of the BS that was going on off the court behind the scences and not even what, 15 years later we are going right back to the same type of BS.
I'm not sure what they are looking for as the Big East has the most Sweet 16 teams last season, has the most titles out of any of the conferences with 4 (Big 10 is a close second with Michigan State landing that cof 3) and again the best players (5 national players of the year in a row). I don't have a clue what the heck I did wrong, but what is done is done.
I'm sure another major conference would be interested in me. Who knows where Ill land but this wont end with me not working.......
A few days have passed by with only one of the major 7 conferences giving me a call. The Conferenes that are all ranked with a 5 Prestige are The Big East, The Big 10, the Pac-10, the Big 12, the SEC, the ACC, and Conference USA.
Im intrigued by the offer, but the money simply isn't there, and they are low balling me pretty bad.
I am beginning to think this might be the year I step away from baskeball and I start to ponder what the heck I would even do with my downtime.
Then my phone rings and its my agent. He tells me that I need to hop on a plane and head to DC to meet with a few people that are going to give me an offer that he thinks I am going to want to hear. I ask "well can you give me a clue" and his response was that he didnt even know who it was but they money figure they were throwing around had to be from a major conf and that they just wanted to keep it secret until the time was right.
I hung up the phone with my head spinning, trying to find the next flight to DC.
I land, head to the hilton and my agent calls and tells me the meeting is at midnight...... Midnight???? What the heck is going on I say to myself. This is pretty weird if you ask me, but hey I don't have much to loose right.
I check in, head to the room to get a shower and get ready to meet whoever I'm supposed to be meeting in a few hours up in the penthouse.
I still have no idea why this needs to be in secret but hey whatever. I'm not really sure what I would be doing if I wasn't doing this so I am at least busy.
I look at my watch after throwing on a suit, putting on a tie and throwing some gel in my hair.
11:45....
Heading up early is what I am going to do. I'd rather be early than late, and if there is some competition for this job early is the first impression I want to give.
I head on over to the Elevators and am greeted by a rather small bell boy who cant look any more than 19. He asks if I was the guy he was supposed to take to the pent house. I laughed and asked him why would he think that.
"Well sir you are the only one in a suit at midnight on the 10th floor heading to an elevator.......
SIGH..... a 19 year old punk getting a rise out of me. "HA" my night is off to a wonderful start.
We get into the elevator, he puts in his key and away we go....
DING.... DING..... The doors open and I get out into a small hallway with a door 5 feet away. As I approach the door, I can't help but wonder who is behind it.......
I look down at my watch 11:53..... I adjust my tie, brush my arms and knock on the door.....
Its go time
I stand there for 30 seconds, and nothing.....
Then it hits me like a ton of bricks.... Did I seriously just knock on a door to a penthouse and expect someone to hear me???
I need to take a deep breath, stop worrying about what the heck is going on and stop making stupid mistakes... Get a freaking hold of myself....
I find the doorbell on the side of the door and can hear the chimes ringing inside.
I take a deep breath, step back a little bit and wait for the door to open up to a possible new future. A new life, and a chance to get my reputaion back
The door opened and I was greeted by a older gentleman. He invited me in and told me that a few people were running a bit late but that I could have a look around the suite in the meantime.
I watched him walk back into a back room out of sight and I turned around to take in my surroundings.
It looked like I was in the main living room and it also looked like a few people were already here by the looks of the table in front of me.
Now that I think about it the man didnt introduce himself either. This was getting weirder by the moment. I however hadn't exactly been in a penthouse before and this was pretty cool stuff to me. As much as I wanted to know what the heck was going on, I was doing my best to just play it cool and wait till I was needed.
I had just walked over the the left and gone over to some double doors to take in the view of the city when a womans voice called out and asked me to follow her up the stairs to the meeting room.
Wow, really?????
Alright I said and made my way towards her as she went up the stairs.
At the top she greeted me, said good luck, handed me a drink and said they would be in shortly.
"UMMMM OK" is about all I managed to get out.
I walked in took in my surroundins once again, finally sat down and waited for whoever was going to come into the beautiful board room.
There were only 6 chairs around the table and then another 8 bar stools that were positioned about 8 feet away that went all around the "L" shaped bar.
Talk about cryptic. I quickly finished my drink and then the door opened. I swallowed hard and thats when the bar tender walked into the room and went behind the bar.
The suspense was eating me up
Finally in what felt like 5 hours the doors opened again, and in walked 3 men and 2 woman. They all walked over greeted me didn't introduce themselves and all proceeded to walk over to the bar. One of the guys asked if I wanted another drink and I said "why not".
After getting their drinks they took a seat and the bar tender came over to give me another drink of "red death". These people clearly did their homework as I haven't said much to anyone yet let alone ordered anything yet but they knew what I liked to drink.
One of the women looked at me and and said "so I guess we should start going into why we asked you here, and who we are huh"? I smiled and said "ya that would be nice".
Well we represent a number of powerful people that would like you to become the next Conference Commish of the America East.
If I had taken a sip of my "death" I would have spit it out. "Excuse me, did you say the America East????
My mind was just blown. I'm thinking Seriously???? Powerful people looking out for the America East???? Is this a joke, you had me fly down here ASAP, didn't tell me a thing, and then are going to talk to me about one of the worst conferences in the IAAUS??? Get the F out of here, I can't believe I wasted all this time coming down here, and actually thought this might be my next big gig.
She broke the silence. "Yes I said the America East. We represent people that want you to be the next commissioner of the America East and have already paid a lot of money to get the ball rolling on this.
"You honestly want me to be the next commish of the one of the worst conferences in the college game"? Why? I can't even tell you who is in that conference"!!!
The response I got was because "our people though that you were the best person for the job and will not take no for an answer".
"Well I am really flattered here but folks I apologize that I have just wasted everyone's time. I have no interest in this job as it doesn't do a whole lot for me. As you know I basically got asked to resign from the Big East for no reason and I have a lot to prove. The America East has nothing to offer me. I thought this was going to be a meeting in which one of the other major conferences was going to offer me something but this is proposal is just out of the question."
One of the gentlemen then said "what if we doubled your salary from the Big East and would make sure with your budgets you could hire just about anyone you wanted for the coaching positions?"
It was now time for me to finish my drink. Double my salary? Wait wait wait I said. You said earlier on that "people have already paid a lot of money to get the ball rolling on this". What the heck did that mean?
Well can we be blunt?
Here we go.....I said sure.....
Like you have already stated the American East isn't very good, but they do represent some powerful alumni specifically Boston University. They want to see the conference do better, gain a much better reputation, and I some people want to see a few schools move up the ladder to bigger and better things (IE better conferences).
Can I get another drink???? If I thought my mind was spinning before, now the entire room was spinning.
Well why don't you just pay some people to make this happen for them. Clearly you have deep pockets.....
The woman looked at me again and said because when the NCAA disbanded specific rules were put into place, and the IAAUS will not let the conference movement rule will not be broken. In order to move up you need to win. In order to win you need a good conf commish to find the correct coaches to get everyones Prestige on the upswing. Are you following us?? You are being offered this job because so much money was thrown at the Big East board of Regents that they had to take it..... Now they want you to collect, and make this happen.
And if I refuse????
Lets me honest here Jeremy, if you were going to refuse you wouldn't have ordered another drink, and you still wouldn't be sitting here. You have no job, and can you think of the fame and fortune if you rose the Conference Prestige Level up? We are confident that you can see the big picture here.
Drink number 3...... Down the Hatch......
Wow am I seriously going to do this????
OK so i said let me ask you guys another question here. You mentioned Boston University right? So whats so special about them, why specifically say them?
The answer that I got nearly knocked me to the floor.
Boston U is the main one driving this, but do not think that the rest of the Conference isn't behind this. They just have the most players putting up the most money...
Just as I was going to ask another question, in walked some of the people that we were just starting to talk about.
I immediately recognize the 2 men that walked in the door and Howard Stern looks at me and goes what you don't think I like sports??? I went to Boston U. I want them to be relevant along with the Conference they are in.
Next up was sports personality Bill Simmons. You know I like sports too and like Howard just said I'd like to see them win...... Everyone has targeted you to make it happen. Our Alumni want this bad!!!
Think you can do it????
The only thing that came out of my mouth was Drink number 4 please!!!!!
As I started to ponder my situation a contract was slid from one of the gentleman's brief cases.
Your move he said...
Howard and Bill then went off about as long as it all stayed hush hush, they could use their influence with both the radio and print to help with just about everything I needed... Ya know to go alongside all the cash people wanted to just start throwing at me.
Ahhhh hell i said, double my salary huh...... I started to imagine where this could lead as I signed my name to that contract....
This has some serious potential to benefit both the America East and myself. Screw the Big East, Screw the other big Conferences, I have now alligned myself with the little guys. This should be a fun challenge and I can not wait to get it started!!!!
America East Evaluation
This Conference really is a joke.
Albany- Prestige is 13 and they are 110-165 totally. In 9 years they have never had a 20 win season and have yet to make any kind of post season.
Binghamton- Prestige is 32 and they are 164-129 totally. They have won 4 Regular Season championships and 2 tournament championships. They have had four 20+ winning seasons, been to the IAAUS tournament twice, the NIT twice, and the 4IT once.
Boston University- Prestige is 14 and they are 114-161 totally. They have never made any post season in 9 years and do not have a 20+ season to date.
Hartford- Prestige is 17 and they are 118-159 totally. They have 1 conference tournament championship and have made the IAAUS tournament once. They have no 20+ win seasons to date.
Maine- Prestige is 12 and they are 95-180. Gosh that is sad. They haven't even hit 100 wins yet. Clearly no 20+ winning seasons and have never made any post season tournament.
New Hampshire- Prestige is also 12 and they are 108-167 totally. They too do not have any 20+ winning seasons and have never made a post season tournament.
Stony Brook- Their Prestige is 22 and they are 126-157. They have 1 regular season title and 2 conference tournament titles. They haven't won 20+ games however they have made the IAAUS tournament twice, the NIT once, and the 4 IT once.
UMBC- Their Prestige is 20 and they are 159-133 totally. They have won 1 regular season title and 2 conference tournaments. They have had three 20+ win seasons and have made 2 IAAUS tournaments appearances along with, a trip to the NIT and 3BI tournaments.
Vermont- Their Prestige is 29 and they have gone 159-130 in 9 seasons. They have 3 regular season conference championships and 2 conference tournament championships. They have won 20+ games twice, have been to the IAAUS twice, the NIT 3 times, and the 4IT once.
America East Evaluation of Coaches
Albany-William Braxton. He has been here all 9 years and has gone 110-165. Has never won more than 9 conference games. I have no idea how this guy lasted this long.... He is gone
Binghamton-Allan Travis- He has been here for 5 years going 91-73. he has won 2 conference titles and looks like does a decent job for them. Before coming here he was an Assistant at BYU for 4 seasons losing in the 2nd round twice, and making it to the sweet 16 twice.
Boston University-Chris Sager. Chirs has been at Boston for 4 years going 40-80. He spent 3 years at Nevada before this stop, and then 2 years before that at Cal Northridge. While there he didn't have a ton of success as an assistant so him getting this job is puzzling. He is gone.
Hartford-Kevin Wilson. Kevin has been here all 9 years going 118-159. Not a whole lot to say except he sucks. He also wont be back for the upcoming season.
Maine-Danny McKelvey. Another loser. Has gone 95-180. Again NEXT!
New Hampshire-Emile Larios. I don't know what is up with this conference and sticking with loser coaches but the trend continues. He has only been here 6 seasons but he is 76-106 with no real improvement. Another one bites the dust!
Stony Brook-George Salerno. He has gone 126-157 but has won some. He hasn't lost more than 8 games in the conf in 6 straight seasons. If he first 2 years didn't suck he prob would be right around .500 for his career. Not sure what I am going to do with him. I think I need to see the coaches available before making a call on him.
UMBC-Domenic Oberg- He is 70-60 in his 4 years on the job. Not great, but isn't horrible either. Like George above, I want to see the other coaches before making a call on him as well.
Vermont- Floyd Smith - He is also falling into the wait and see category. He is 36-31 in 2 seasons at the helm including a conf title. Just not sure i like him or not. Safe for now until I see other coaches that are available.
ok so before I keep going I wanted to explain the change.
As I kept going with the Big East I realized that once my good coaches retired I was not playing on the same playing field as the other big confrences.
I couldnt hire any of the head coaches I was competing with, and without some kind of barrier that I wasnt thinking of it just wouldnt be fun.
By heading to a lower conference, I still cant hire any good head coaches, however I do get to have my pick from assistants, and the assistants are qualified to run these teams, where as they were not qualified to run the big time programs.
So in case anyone was wondering thats why the sudden change as I really did want to keep this going.
As another side rule I am now going to turn on the "allow humans to recieve job offers" function and will move any of my head coaches up that deserve to be moved up and realistically would if offered a bigger job.
Potential Candidate list who are all current assistant coaches
Chris Wingard -Dayton. Ratings of 4-8-8-8 and an overall record of 106-89. Was the head coach at Belmot and UAB. Was great at Belmont, struggled at UAB the first season then took them to .500 the second and was fired for it. Has won a conf championship. Been At Dayton the past 3 years going to the post season all 3.
Whitney Arguello-Rhode Island- Ratings of 9-3-6-7 and hasnt been a head coach yet. Spent 4 years at Michigan and the past 5 at Rhode Island. While at Rhode Island they have made a post season tourament all 5 years.
Jonas Marr- Xavier- Ratings of 10-10-2-3 and an overall record of 131-92. Spent 7 years at Winthrop before getting canned his last year for going .500. Has 2 confernece titles to his credit and has helped Xavier the past 2 years get to the Sweet 16 and the Elite 8.
Mike Schaplowsky-Baylor- Ratings of 9-3-7-7. Hasnt been a head coach yet but has the ratings to be one. Has been at Baylor the past 4 years and each year has made the IAAUS tourament getting bounced in the 2nd round.
Orlando Wooster- Oklahoma- Ratings of 4-10-6-9 and an overall record of 76-80. Was the head Coach at Iowa State for 5 years and came close to playing .500 ball there. Clearly doing that is a feat and therefore he makes the list.
Brooks Olson- Pittsburgh- Ratings of 7-3-10-7 and an overall record of 68-90. Not great but he was the head man at Oregon for those 5 years and just couldnt ever seem to get it together. I'm thinking that it might work out for a little program.
Bobby Decastro- South Florida- Ratings of 10-2-7-4. Hasnt ever been a head coach yet and spent his entire career before this year at LSU. Has been to the post 5 times.
Stephen Woodyard- Marshall- Ratings of 7-1-4-10. Hasnt been a head coach yet and hasnt been all that successful at his stops at Cal State Fullerton and Marshall but did spend 2 years between Xavier and Rider where he went to the Elite 8 at Xavier and lost in a 2nd round game at Rider.
Brian Ham- Princeton- Ratings of 6-4-6-6. Has never been a head coach but has made the post season the past 3 years at Princeton.
Chris Floyd- Central Michigan- Ratings of 6-2-7-5. Hasnt beena head coach yet but has been to the post season in 3 out of his 9 seasons. Has really bounced around as an assistant with stops at Kansas State, Oklahoma, Miami and IUPI.
Jason Stackhouse- Witchia State- Ratings of 7-5-3-10. Hasnt been a head coach yet but has been to the post season 4 times. Like Chris above has bounced around a lot with stints at Indiana, Miami, Oregon State, Fordham, Richmond and North Dakota State.
Tony Chumley- Air Force- Ratings of 6-4-8-6. Hasnt been a head coach yet but has gone to the post season 7 times in his 9 year career.
William Hassler- New Mexico- Ratings of 4-2-7-10 and an overall record of 25-39. Looks like he got a raw deal at Louisiana Tech as 2 years wasnt enough to prove himself. Before taking that job he was an assistant with UNC making the post season 4 times loosing in the 2nd round, the Sweet 16, the Elite 8 and the Final 4.
Lazaro Angel- TCU- Ratings of 4-5-8-6. Never been a head man before but has made the post season in 5 seasons.
Tyree Thiel- Murray State- Ratings of 7-3-6-6- Once again hasnt been a head man before but has been to the post season in 5 seasons.
Nicolas Borg- Stanford- Ratings of 6-2-3-10. Has bounced around a lot at big time programs but wasnt able to stick until Stanford. Has helped them reach the IAAUS tourney in 3 out of his 4 seasons going to the 2nd round, Sweet 16and an Elite 8.
Otto McChesney- LSU- Ratings of 8-8-7-3 and an overall record of 111-113. Actually has a Conference championship with a team in my Conference UMBC. He spent the first 5 years of his career there guiding them to 3 post season trips before leaving to take the head Job at Tennessee Martin where he was fired after 2 seasons. Has already proven he can handle my conference
Douglas Vargas- Mississippi State- Ratings of 7-5-6-6. Hasnt been a head coach yet but has been a fixture at Mississippi state. Has spent all 9 years there helping them reach the post season in 6 of those 9 seasons.

Mr. Muns,
I was sorry to hear that you were fired from the Big East. I thought you did a remarkable job there. I can't believe you weren't offered a position with any of the other big conferences. However, congrats on accepting the position as the America East Commish.
I hope that you can find a place for me at one of the schools in the America East. I feel I am ready to lead my own program. I don't have to tell you my credentials, you already know. Again, good luck and hopefully I'll be hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Mike Schaplowsky
Recruiting Coordinator- Baylor

ha ha loved this!!!!! :D  :D
After looking at the candidate list I have decided to give Floyd Smith at Vermont his walking papers as well.
That leaves me with 6 jobs to fill, and more than a few qualified candidtes to go through
New America East Hires
Albany- The Albandy job is a total stinker like most in the America East jobs however what they have going for them that most of the other schools don't is that they are located in NY which is a mecca of basketball talent. If I could find a guy that could tap into that this program could turn around in a hurry. I was looking for a guy that had ties to the area and a guy that had a good recruiting rating. It would also be a plus if he had some head coaching experience.
I end of picking Whitney Arguello an assistant with Rhode Island for this job. His ratings of Ratings of 9-3-6-7 seem to fit the style that I want. His recruiting ratings is great, and he can develop the talent that he brings in. He is already close to the area as he just skips over from Rhode Island plus he brings in a nice set of stats as an assistant. He spent 4 years at Michigan and in the past 5 seasons at Rhode Island they made a post season tournament each year. In the end his resume was just too good to pass up here.
Boston University- I need to be mindful of how I got this job with the America East and the Boston alumni were a huge piece to this. I am sure that they want a huge name and the simple fact this year was there really weren't any out there to be had. Boston has dipped from a 42 Prestige to a 14 in just 9 short seaons. I'm positive the alumni base wants to see results in a hurry and I believe that I chose the right guy for the job out of the guys I had on my list.
Bobby Decastro an assistant with South Florida is going to be the new guy at Boston U. He has ratings of 10-2-7-4 which just screams he is qualified, but he also is only one of two coach's in the conference with a 10 in recruiting. In recruiting battles for talent that could play a huge role and a difference maker. He also comes from 2 programs that were in the power conferences in LSU and South Florida so that experience should be able to translate over to our little conference. Hopefully I wont get bashed too bad in the press for this one but really he might be the best guy out there this season for this situation.
Hartford- The Hartford just is an interesting one. While they aren't a powerhouse by any stretch of the imagination they also are not the conference doormat either. In looking back over the past 9 seasons here the worst season they had was 8-22 and that was the very first season. For this job I was looking for a guy that could be steady, a guy that could go with the ebs and flows that go with a with a small college job. The perfect guy was easy to find and he stuck out like a sore thumb.
Douglas Vargas from Mississippi State is the guy I tagged here. He has ratings of 7-5-6-6. Those really are solid ratings all across the board and he has been an assistant with Mississippi State all 9 of his seasons coaching. Between those 2 factors and the way he helped guide the Bulldogs to a post season in 6 out of his 9 seasons its easy to see why he was my clear choice for the Hartford post.
Maine- Another historical stinker of a job and is yet another school that has lost over half of its Prestige points in 9 short seasons. Not only is this job behind the 8 ball due to its location, but its tough to find a coach that wants to coach a job that nobody really wants to touch. The coach that I am looking for here needs to be able to recruit but also needs to be able to develop the talent better than most other coaches because i doubt whoever it is will be pulling in top 150 classes. If thats the case then its more important than ever to develop the guys that do end of coming to Maine.
The choice here was also easy. Brooks Olson from Pittsburgh will be the new head man of the Black Bears. He has ratings of 7-3-10-7. The ratings and the skill set are clearly there for him to be successful, however what made this job attractive to him is the fact that he hasn't had success anywhere else. He was the head man at Oregon for 5 seasons and ended up going 68-90. Unless he got another chance at a small time school none of the big boys were going to come calling again. Brooks will put the time in here at Maine and I'm hoping that it rolls into turning this program back around.
New Hampshire- This job has always been bottom of the barrel even in the lowly America East. Hopefully the new guy can change that so I needed to target someone that has had some success before and can use that to help recruit some decent talent here. This job was prob the hardest to fill and find a guy to take over just because of how bad they have been and currently are.
I ended up with prob the most accomplished coach in my search though which really fit what I was looking for. Jonas Marr who was an assistant at Xavier will be the new man running New Hampshire. His ratings are 10-10-2-3and he does have an overall record of 131-92. He spent 7 years at Winthrop before getting canned in his last year for going .500. If you take that last season out of the coaching equation and you have an individual that should have been getting looks at bigger schools. He also has 2 conference titles to his credit and has helped Xavier the past 2 years get to the Sweet 16and the Elite 8. His credentials immediately give New Hampshire some credit to go out and get some nice classes, and that is what I'm hoping the man can do.
Vermont- This is the best job in the conference no doubt about it. They have the 2nd best Prestige in the conf at 29 but are riding a post season berth 4 times in the past 4 years, the only team in the conf that can boast that. Historically they have slipped from the first year when they made the 2nd round of the IAAUS tourney and had a prestige of 55 but I think averaging 17 wins per season in 9 years in a nice accomplishment. I fired the last coach that was here (for 2 seasons) for the simple fact that I didn't think the coach deserved to be the head coach here to begin with, so I have high hopes for the cadamount head coaching position. The coach here needs to be able to recruit and develop the kids he brings in. I expect it the post season streaks to continue and hopefully continue to inch/bring the prestige up.
I chose to hire Mike Schaplowsky who has been with Baylor the past 4 years. I was shocked when he did not get offered a head job last season and the fact that I could land him this year should be a real positive for the America East. He has ratings of 9-3-7-7 and has helped bring in a top 25 recruiting class the past 4 seasons while at Baylor. At 34 to hand the program over to a guy with only 4 seasons under his belt might be a tad bit crazy, however if Mike brings that recruiting enthusiasm to Vermont and then can develop that talent there isn't any question this program could take off, and his future would be a shooting staff as big time program will come a calling.
Coaching Changes
I just want to highlight a few this season.
Marquette fired Daniel Bullington. He then got hired by Virginia Tech. Prob was a good thing for Bullington. He didn't have a lot of success at Marquette however did string together 2 recruiting classes in a row that might pan out.
Providence fired Daniel Hansen which to me is a huge mistake. He had done really well recruiting the past 2 seasons and had high recruiting ratings. That wont happen again their and unfortunately he didn't get hired at a HC this year which might pave the way for me to snag him next year.
St. John's fired Chris Killingsworth. This one I might have been conflicted on if I was still in the Big East but I can certainly see why, but I really think he hand them on the right track. Their 15 wins last year was the 2nd most in school history and he did finally bring in a nice recruiting class.
Not sure how this season will play out in the America East. My first season here and I dont have a handle on all the players yet.
From looking at the rosters I think Vermont and Binghamton should duke it out for the title and I think Albany will be my sleeper team this year.
Im really just looking for improvement out of all the teams and coaches so that we can start to right the ship for just about everyone in the conf
It looks like I wasnt that far off with my predictions although Boston being where it finished was a shocker. Im sure that alumni liked that.
Should be an interesting conf tourney. We will only get 1 team into the big dance.

Conf Tourney 1st round
#8 UMBC beats #9 Hew Hampshire 82-57
2nd round
#1 Albany beats #8 UMBC 67-57
#2 Binghampton beats #7 Maine 68-46
#3 Boston U beats #6 Stony Brook 81-75
#4 Vermont loses to #5 Hartford 55-59.... Shocking upset here actually. Vermont prob had the best roster in the conf this year.
#1 Albany beats #5 Hartford 83-60
#2 Binghampton loses to #3 Boston U 65-59... Good for Boston here, another big time upset in my book. Still have no idea how Boston is doing this. Must be the new head coach Bobby Decastro I hired :)
Title Game
#1 Albany beats #3 Boston U 72-64.
This is great for Albany as its their first conf title and first tourney title. This is also the first time they make a post season tourament ever and they did have the best recruiting class in the conf last year. Some good things to build on here.
We have 3 teams make a post season this year.
Albany head to the IAAUS tournament as a #14 seed. They play #3 seed Wake Forest who is coming off an IAAUS title game last season when they were I #4 Seed I believe. Not exactly the game I was hoping for.
Binghampton- Makes the NIT as an #8 Seed and they play #9 Campbell for the right to take on #1 seed UNLV.
Vermont- Coach Mike Schaplowsky has the catamounts in the 4IT tourament as the #16 seed playing #1 Houstion Baptist.
I am dissapointed that Boston U didnt make a tournament but I guess 3 teams is better than just 1 in a post season so I wont get too greedy in the first season.
NIT
#8 Binghampton loses to #9 Campbell 57-64.
4IT
#16 Vermont pulls off the upset of #1 Houston Baptist 64-50. They handled them pretty good. Will be interesting to see if they can keep that going.
IAAUS First Round
#14 Albany loses to #3 Wake 67-77. 10 point loss is respectable. Happy with this outcome for sure!
4IT
#16 Vermont pulls a 2nd upset off with a win against #8 Cal State Northridge 75-68. They face #12 St Francis who is rolling through the tournament beating teams by 20 including #5 Milwaukee and #13 Youngstown St.
4IT
Vermonts run comes to an end as St. Francis beat them by 10, 71-61.
Not a bad run in the 4IT for Vermont.
IAAUS Final 4
#8 Syracuse #1 Florida
#8 Miami #3 Wake
This marks the first time in 4 years that Michigan State didnt make the Final 4 as they got knocked out in the second round by #5 seed USC (Michigan State was a 4)
IAAUS Final 4 and Championship
#8 Syracuse loses to #1 Florida 89-79
#8 Miami just crushes #3 Wake Forest 86-59
#1 Florida stomps #8 Miami 100-80.
This is the Gators 2nd title, so the only teams to win titles other than the Big East teams in 10 years are Michigan State and Florida.
REALLY REALLY PUMPED
Can already see a major different in recruiting this year vs previous years. New head coaches made a HUGE difference!!!!!
Last season Maine was the only team that had a top 110 recruiting class coming in at 108. Everybody else was in the 200 range with the exception of UMBC who was 312 and Boston was 341
http://i924.photobucket.com/albums/ad83/muns13/AErecruiting1.jpg
This season we have 3 teams in the top 100. 4 teams in the 100-199 range, and Vermont and Stony Brook screwing up with a 336 and 337...
Top Freshman to keep an Eye on
Albany-Center Tommy Bergeron- rated 125 an all stater from Mass. Is rated 8 in inside scoring now.
Binghamton- Center Richard Nader Rated 227 out of NY however has the potential to be really good in the future. 6 in inside scoring now with A potential, 4 in Defensive rebounding with B potential, and rated 8 in blocks with A potential
Boston University-SG Korey Zimmerman. Rated 209 out of NJ. Has B potentials in Jump shot and inside scoring. B potential in D with A potential in steals.
Maine- PG Chris Camacho- Love this name BTW. Rated 311 overall from MA. Has a 7 jump shot now with A potential and will also be able to handle the ball. B and C potentials there.
New Hampshire- Center Richard Harold. Rated 213 overall out of CT. Was all state CT and CT'S Mr. Basketball. Is rated 8 in inside scoring now and A potential. Has B potential in handles and Defensive rebounding.
UMBC- PG Pedro Jenkins- Rated 135 overall from MD. The only Freshman with Blue potential and is athletic as heck. 10 quickness, 5 strength, 8 jumping and 7 stamina. Also can handle now with 6 rating there and 7 in passing. Handles is B potential, the passing is A potential.
I am really looking forward to seeing the influx of talent into the America East. Nice way to start out the first recruiting classes for these new coaches.
Conference Movement
Xavier heads to the Big East Swapping out DePaul
Albany, Binghampton and Boston U all get facility upgrades coming next season!!! Just good news all around so far this year!
In case anyone cares about the Big East, as I still do they just wiped the floor with the rest of the IAAUS recruiting wise. the number is nationally not just the big east
1. Villanova- My hire is looking real good there
2. Syracuse
4. Notre Dame
9. UCONN
10. Georgetown
12. WVU
31. Temple
53. St.Johns
60. Cincinnati
79. Marquette
Coaching Evaluations
Im not going to do any except the guys I kept last year as I dont have a whole lot to evaluate with my new coaches
Binghampton-Allan Travis- Allen was right there fighting for the conf title last year and fell a few games short. He did have enough on his resume to make the NIT and lost in the first round. I cant complain about that at all. I hope he keeps that up. He also just landed the 63 best class in the land and that is damn nice for the America East!
Stony Brook-George Salerno- I wasn't sure what I was honestly going to do last year with him and decided to keep him. Wrong choice. He went 12-18 for the 2nd straight year and he brought in one of the worst recruiting classes in the nation, and the worst class in the conference. He has been here his entire career and gone 138-175. New Coach coming up in the Brook next season!
UMBC-Domenic Oberg- He had a horrible year this year going 11-20 and now has an overall reacord at UMBC of 81-80. For one of the better teams in this America East, I just cant let this continue. Granted he did bring in the best rated class in the conf this year which is why I want to jump on this and bring in a guy that can really develop it. New coach at UMBC next year as well!
Potential Candidate list
All Assistant Coaches
Tyson Tarter- UNC- Ratings of 10-3-6-7. Has been at 2 places, Kansas State for 5 years and UNC for 5 years. Has only missed the post season twice in his 10 seasons. Really looks good. Also has 2 Sweet 16 trips in 4 years at UNC.
Kevin Callen- Colorado- Ratings of 8-10-10-1. Has an overall record of 120-130 at both South Carolina and Valpo. Did well at South Carolina and doesnt look like a good firing, however he didnt do crap in 3 years in Valpo.
Brian Lux- Syracuse- Ratings of 5-10-2-10. Has an overall record of 144-139 and 2 conference tournament titles. Spent 4 years as the head man at Cornell before leaving to head to George Mason for 5 years. At George Mason he started off hot after his first season taking them to 3 post season touraments in a row, the NIT twice and the 3BI finals once. He however was fired the next season for going 14-18.
Daniel Hansen- USC- My former hire at Providence has ratings of 10-10-2-10 and an overall record of 80-112. Still cant believe Providence let him go after he had to big time recruiting classes, but those are the breaks.
Otto McChesney- LSU- Re copied last years bio for him.
Ratings of 8-8-7-3 and an overall record of 111-113. Actually has a Conference championship with a team in my Conference UMBC. He spent the first 5 years of his career there guiding them to 3 post season trips before leaving to take the head Job at Tennessee Martin where he was fired after 2 seasons. Has already proven he can handle my conference.
The newest editions to the America East Coaching Family
UMBC- Tyson Tarter UNC assistant- Tyson makes sense for UMBC because he can recruit with that 10 rating, however he can also develop his players with a 6 and 7 rating in those categories. He looks to me a real hot assistant and I figured I'd better snatch him up before another conference does. His UNC experience looks to be invaluable and the other plus is that he is from the MA area, so those ties look real good. Hiopefully I made the right move here as Tyson takes over one of the better programs in the America East.
Stony Brook-Daniel Hansen- USC Assistnat- Point blank the man was recruiting his butt off at lowly Providence, and if he could do that there, then there is no reason why he cant do that at Stony Brook. The Book looks to be in a rut the past few years after being a decent program. Located in NY the recruiting should be there, and Daniel does have ties to the area. He should be able to come in and immediatly energize a program that looks to be flat lining along with adding another coach that has a 10 rating in recruiting. These battles should start to heat up soon I think.
This will be the first time running the dynasty with the Feature "human coaches get offers turned on, so we shall see if any of my guys get offers here.
Well it has happened.....
Allan Travis the Head Coach at Binghampton has recieved 4 offers
1. Wofford- 8-21 last year 282,750 budget, recruiting ranked 232 Southern Conf, Prestige of 36
2. Oakland-18-14 last year 340,812 budget, recruiting ranked 220 Summit league, Prestige of 33
3. Eastern Illinois- 12-18 last year, 290,00 budget recruiting ranked 209 Ohio Valley conf Prestige of 36
4. Davidosn- 9-22 last year, 287,000 budget, recruiting ranked 219 Southern conf Prestige of 35
Binghampton- 19-13 last year, 277,500 budget, Recruiting ranked 63, America East conf, Prestige of 31
I also forgot to mention in 1 year America East Conf Prestige went up a point. So we are now a 2 and on par with the rest of these teams
After really looking at things, the Binghampton job is better then those although the Davidson job was tempting. I bet he gets a few more offers this round.
Yep
UKMC came calling which is def a no go however
The next offer came from
UC Santa Barbara- 21-10 last year with a budget of 307,500, Big West Conf and a Prestige of 40 and a recruiting class ranked 262
The Big West conf is ranked with a 2 Prestige as well
I really think that is a better job, and I have accepted the job for him. They were tied for the best prestige in the conf, and had a bigger budget, and had a better Prestige than Binghampton.
Now I have to scramble to find a new head coach for Binghampton one of my flagship programs.... Not good, just not good!!!
Wow so i just looked though the coaching moves pages to see who got fired and who was still left on the market.......
The big east has wasted no time in getting rid of guys that they thought were dead weight.
Freeman Wallace who was the head coach at DePaul was fired and is still avaliable. Record of 167-164 and ratings of 10-3-10-5
Thomas Desilva who was the head coach at South Florida was fired after 2 years. Just a wrong move there. This guy didnt get enough time to see what he could do. He is one of the 50 most winningest coaches with a record of 215-115. Ratings of 6-1-8-10
Few other guys that im looking at
Bobby Bennett- Fired by Texas A&M CC- Ratings of 6-7-6-6 and and overall record of 174-141. Has 2 conf titles and 1 All american.
Douglas Clark- Fired by Utah State for going 98-63 with 1 conf title. Has ratings of 6-2-10-8. Was in the post season 5 times in 5 years at Utah state( 3BI three times, NIT once, and IAAUS tournament once.
This is a tough call between Thomas Desilva and Douglas Clark. I think they both would do a good job, however Desilva has more experience as a head coach and clearly more wins so im going to land him.
Not a bad swap I guess although I would have liked to keep Allan Travis in my stable of coaches.
The entire stable of coaches has switched over in 1 season here in the America East. Thats just crazy.....
Conference Preview
Wow the teams all look pretty close this year.
I guess in order the teams that I like are Vermont, UMBC and Hartford.
My sleeper picks this year would be Maine and and Binghampton.
Well the standings are whacked out a bit.
I didnt see Boston coming again for a 2nd straight year. They blew it by their the OOC though and Hartford really crapped the bed this season.
It will be interesting to see what Vermont does in the conf tourney. They have the best player in the conf, and one of the top rebounders to go along with it.

Still a good season for Vermont
3BI
#5 UMBC beats #4 Iowa 61-60!!!! Heck ya. Thats a real nice win there.

#5 UMBC loses a heart breaker to #8 Siena 70-73.
Good showing for UMBC this year as well!
IAAUS FINAL 4 and Championship
2nd year in a row both Flordia and Syracuse make the final 4. Can Florida defend their title???
#4 UNC loses to #1 Florida 51-64
#2 Xavier stomps #2 Syracuse 66-49
IAAUS Title Game
#1 Florida crushes #2 Xavier 74-54.
Florida goes back to back, and is now tied for 2nd place with Michigan State with 3 titles a piece.
Still in 11 years the Big East teams, and Florida and Michigan State have won titles.
4 out of these 6 made the All Freshman team, as their actually wasnt a 5th person that made the team period.
Nader, Harold, Camacho and Jenkins were the guys that are on the team with Jenkins being the Freshman of the year.
UMBC and first year head coach Tyson Tarter wins America East Coach of the year!

I'd love to be added as a coach and an alter ego as a recruit, if that works for you. What info do you need?

Sweet RPI, we shall get you added ASAP. I'm right at the point in game where its perfect timing.
For A coach I would need the info below and also what you are looking for (I.E. do you want to start off as an assistant at a small school and try to work your way up, an assistant at a big time program, or a head coach at a small school, or unemployed and the CPU will have at ya?)

For a recruit I would need the following info below and then a basic description of what you want. Example: I want to be a guard that is real athletic, has the potential to be great but needs coaching to develop. Average shooter and defender but the potential to be great.
You can make this description as basic or fine tuned as you want.

Let's do: terrible free throw shooting, great three point shooting, terrible jump shooting, great inside scoring. Let's make him pretty well developed already, but give him some good potential in areas that might realistically improve: strength, post D, rebounding, free throw shooting.

Yep Ill get you in before I continue this evening
Recruiting comes in ok again. Im liking the talent that is coming into the conference. More 3 star players than before.
Stony Brook end up with the best class, and who did I just hire there??? Daniel Hansen the guy that providence let go who pulled in 2 top 25 classes in a row. Their dumb move looks good in the America East :)

Conference Movement
Rider moves up from the MAAC to the A-10 and Duquesne moves from the A-10down to the MAAC
Top Freshman to keep an Eye on
Binghamton- SG- Vance Snavely- This 2 star recruit ranked at 668 overall comes in from the NY with a deadly shooting touch. He has a jumpshot thats already rated a 9, with Free throws and 3 pointers rated as 7's. He also has decent handles with a 6 rating.
Boston University- Center larry Hang. Ranked 200 overall this all state Center from MA has decent potential. He has a 5 for inside scoring, 6 for handles, 7 for offensive rebounding, 5 for defensive rebouding and 8 for blocks. Id day this guy has a chance to be a force in the conf for years to come.
New Hampshire- PG-Newton Coles. The only freshman in the conf that comes in with blue potential. The 170th rated overall recruit has some serious ball handling skills. He comes in rated 6's in passing and handling but also has A potential. He also can pick some pockets as he has a 5 in that area and a B potential. Last but not least he can stoke it from downtown with a 7 rating in 3 point shooting.
Stony Brook- PG James Joesph. Depending on how he gets used will determine how good he becomes. He has a 6 in inside scoring, 8 in 3 point shooting, 5's in both handeling and passing and a 6 in "D". I think if he gets moved to SG he might have more chances with the rock
Center- Bo Aleman- Besides Newton Coles from New Hampshire, he might be the guy with the most potential. He has B's in inside scoring, Offensive rebouding and Defensive rebouding, as well as post D. If he develops he will be a beast in this conf.
Boston U gets a budget upgrade
Maine gets a facility upgrade
I still like all of my coaches and we are still a little bit young to do real evaluations yet so on to the head coach round we go.
2 notes
UCONN'S Head Coach Devin Foust retired this sim. Sad sad day.
Pittsburgh's Edward Slade also retired. As you know if you have been following along, I couldnt stand that guy at Nova but he did help shape Pitt back to form.
In case anyone cares former Binghampton Head Coach Allen Travis went 18-13 with UC Santa Barbara and lost in the first round of the 4IT. He also pulled in the 122nd rated class with was 4th in the Big West.
Introducing the newest coach in the IAAUS
K.N. SMITH
http://i924.photobucket.com/albums/ad83/muns13/knsmith.jpg
Just so you know RPI The AI chose where you landed I didnt. I did have to manupliate the process a bit though, as with your high ratings all the major conferences wanted you bad..... You ended up as one of the highest paid assistants in the game a few times.
Wow I think I over did it with your recruit RPI, however it should be fun to see where he ends up and how he pans out.

First round of Recruiting for #1 rated overall recruit Rensselaer Phan
WOW I am totally shocked........ I guess some of the Big Time schools pulled out after they scouted you and saw that your jumper wasnt up to snuff
1. BYU Prest 82 have offered you
2. Texas Prest 90 have not offered you
3. Nebraska Prest 67 have offered you
4. Baylor Prest 84 have not offered you
5. Miami Prest 83 have not offered you
2nd round of Recruiting for #1 rated overall recruit Rensselaer Phan
1. BYU Prest of 82 have offered you
2. Texas Prest of 90 have not offered you
3rd round of Recruiting for #1 rated overall recruit Rensselaer Phan
1. BYU Prest 82 have offered you
2. Texas Prest 90 have not offered you
3. Oklahoma State Prest 91 have not offered you
4. Baylor Prest 84 have not offered you
5. Michigan State Prest 100 have not offered you
Least more schools came calling this time. This might get interesting. I'm wondering if these schools all came back when they realized that everybody else dropped off except BYU and Texas after the 2nd sim.
I wouldnt mind see Michigan State offer you just to see what you would do since BYU has been all over you from the get go
4th round of Recruiting for #1 rated overall recruit Rensselaer Phan
No changes this sim
1. BYU Prest 82 have offered you
2. Texas Prest 90 have not offered you
3. Oklahoma State Prest 91 have not offered you
4. Baylor Prest 84 have not offered you
5. Michigan State Prest 100 have not offered you
Now I'm wondering if you are just waiting for anyone else to offer since you haven't jumped all over BYU yet (the only team to offer you).
Conference Preview
I like Hartford and Maine again this year
Sleepers UMBC and Binghampton
5th round of Recruiting for #1 rated overall recruit Rensselaer Phan
Alright this is just getting nutty..... This is killing me. I actually hope you land at some small program and become a BEAST like I know you are going to!!!
BYU pulled its schlorship offer
1. Oklahoma State Prest 91 and has not offered
6th round of Recruiting for #1 rated overall recruit Rensselaer Phan
We finally have a decision this round...........
Rensselaer Phan had decided to take his talents too...................
The University of Minnesota
http://i924.photobucket.com/albums/ad83/muns13/RensselaerPhan2.jpg
Side note, this a view from my Albany scout..... So those ratings arent 100% accurate :)
Finally nailed the conf standings this year.
Vermont was the surprise team this year. Didnt see them doing as well as they did.

America East Conf Tourney
#8 Stony Brook beats #9 New Hampshire 80-63
America East Tourney
#1 Maine beats #8 Stony Brook 92-48
#2 Hartford beats #7 Boston U 87-74
#3 Vermont loses to #6 UMBC 55-73... Not shocking as UMBC played under what their potential was this season
#4 Albany beats #5 Binghamton 72-54
America East Tourney
#1 Maine loses to #4 Albany 62-72 and this is a real killer for Maine..... WOW!
#2 Hartford beats #6 UMBC 87-70
America East Championship
2nd time in 3 years Albany is in the title game but it wasn't meant to be.
#2 Hartford beats #4 Albany 78-68
IAAUS Tournament
#16 Hartford loses to #1 UCLA 67-95
NIT
#8 Maine beats #9 Cal Poly 88-84
NIT
#8 Maine loses to #1 Cincinnati 75-82
Well that wasnt a very good season. Only 2 teams made the post season and while a lot of them are finally winning 10+ games some of my better teams are just slipping which is a shame.....
Awards
Freshman Newton Coles from New Hampshire wins Freshman of the Year.
Maine Coach Brooks Olson wins Coach of the year
Rensselaer Phan update
He started for the West All Stars in the All American High School Game.
He played 19 mins went 4-6 from the field, was 0-2 from the charity stripe, had 3 offensive rebounds (4 total) 4 assists, had 9 points and fouled out.
The West lost by one point 89-88 and I cant help think that if he didn't foul out the game would have been a bit different.
His back up did horrible.......
Ohhh well I'm going to assume when he gets to Minnesota it will all be forgotten about.
I do however wonder what Position he is going to play. Are his ball handling skills so good that he can convert to a 6'9 magic-esque point guard? Or will 2nd year Head Coach (at Minnesota) Curt Wells keep him at the SF spot to give them a great ball handling advantage????
Looking forward to seeing how things pan out up there for him.
Hartford gets a facility upgrade
Maine gets a facility upgrade
Recruiting looks ok. I think some schools missed out this year pretty bad. Maine took a huge whiff and unless those guys are ok in a specific category. I dont know how the heck they are going to recover in a few seasons.
Albany is putting in the work!!!!
http://i924.photobucket.com/albums/ad83/muns13/AErecruiting3.jpg
Rensselaer Phan comes in as a total Beast...... All Blues.....
http://i924.photobucket.com/albums/ad83/muns13/RensselaerPhan3.jpg
What makes him even more interesting to me is those are not the ratings that I assigned him..... More than a few got upgraded, and then the Stamina was downgraded....
Will be neat to see how he does stats wise though.

Thanks for all the updates! I like that I went to a midwestern school. BYU actually would have been perfect (smaller conference), but Minnesota is a great fit. Very curious to see how things pan out.

I just wished there was more of a recruiting battle for ya. I think now that the coaches have systems they like to run (behind the scences in the game) that it affects recruiting now more than it ever did and you see guys like that who have potential in an area get over looked (even as the #1 recruit) because they wouldnt fit in a system.....
It will be really interesting to see how you do against the prob the best team in the game over the past 5 years Michigan State....
Confernece moves
Applation State goes to the CAA from the Southern Conf
James Madison to the Southern from the CAA
Nevada goes to the the WCC from the WAC
San Francisco goes to the WAC from the WCC
This is my 4th year in the America East and Ill do evaluations of coaches after this season.
There wasnt a whloe lot of coaching movement this year.
Chris Killingsworth who I hired in the Big East retired at Washington State this year
Ray Bowyer who I hired for Louisville also retried this year.
None of my head coaches recieved job offers from any other school
Conference Predictions
The only school that I think can really do damage is Binghamton. After them it looks to be anyones guess
Top Freshman to keep an Eye on
Hartford- in 4 years time this squad will run this conf. I can't believe how well they look like they will gel together. They all compliment each others strenghts. Robert Murphy, Leon Florenz, Vince Mcglyn and Justin Fenske. Remember the names because they will be a huge dissapointment if they dont all pan out together.
Stony Brook- SG-Daniel Tyler. Another blue potential guy. This team has a dymamic backcourt with him and last years prized recruit who is already at green level James Joseph. Tyler is very athletic and can put the ball in the hoop. I expect him to be conf freshman of the year.
Young Drachma

I think you've inspired me to do a FBCB dynasty...
I think you've inspired me to do a FBCB dynasty...
I've never really done these before but I'm addicted to this one... It's been really fun. I can't write like most of you guys can but the different story lines you can pull from these dynasties can and are deep if you want them to be.
Standings
Looks like I nailed this one again as well. 2 in a row, not to shabby predicting wise :)
If you would have told me I would have had 1 team win 23 games, another win 20, and a 3rd win 18 and a 4th win 17 I would have said someone was full of crap. These coaches that are in here are truely making a difference, and I am pretty scared that after this year (most of them are in their 4th year) that they will leave for bigger and better things.

America East Tourney
#8 Boston U beats #9 UMBC 78-63
#1 Binghamton beats #8 Boston U 94-47
#2 Maine beats #7 Stony Brook 76-49
#3 Vermont loses to #6 Albany 82-81. Albany sure is tough come conf tourney time.
#4 Hartford beats #5 New Hampshire 90-74
