This is going to be run on All Star settings, with a few slider tweaks. I have let the CPU run with the Owner based things such as Marketing and Facilities. I am using Ridin's roster set from OS. Strasburg started as a FA so I put him on the Nats.
I will play one game per series to keep this moving along.

San Diego Shakeup!
Jake Peavy dealt to Texas!
It didn't take long for new San Diego Padres GM Buster Stallworth to realize the mess he inherited when he took over the reigns of GM for the Padres. With Ace Jake Peavy's bloated contract on the books, and a hazy financial future on the horizon thanks to an Owners ongoing divorce, the Padres had little recourse but find a suitable deal for Peavy, and that they did in a mega deal with the Texas Rangers.
The Padres sent Peavy to Texas and acquired in return SS Elvis Andrus, a 20 year old slick fielder with unlimited potential, 1B Justin Smoak, a pure hitting 1B who could eventually move into a replacement for Adrian Gonzalez should a deal come available for Adrian, and 22 year old SP Derek Holland. Holland will join 4 other rookies on the Padres opening day pitching staff which could spell disaster for the upcoming year, but potentially give some hope to the Padres in the future.

Game 1: Padres vs Dodgers
Chris Young (0-0) vs Chad Billingsley (0-0)
This was a game I played and it was quite a pitchers duel as Young and Billingsley each tossed gems, and each team played flawless D.
LA had a chance to score early with runners on 1st and 2nd and one out with James Loney at the dish, but he was robbed by a diving Elvis Andrus at short, who then flipped to Eckstein at 2nd for the double play. It'd be the one time Loney got out all day as he finished 3-4 for LA.
The game was tied 0-0 in the bottom of the 7th, when Brian Giles hit a bomb to right field to give the Padres the 1-0 lead. From there Chris Young went back into shutdown mode, finishing up 8 strong innings, before turning it over to Heath Bell in the 9th for the save.

Game 2: Padres vs Dodgers
Chad Gaudin (0-0) vs Clayton Kershaw (0-0)
LA 4 - SD 1
A simmed game that saw the Padres offense scuffle with 1 run on 3 hits, while the Dodgers had 4 runs on 9 hits, including 4 doubles. James Loney again killed us with 2 RBI on 2 more hits.
Clayton Kershaw picked up the W with 6.2 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 9 K and 4 BB.
Chad Gaudin only went 4 IP giving up 6 H, 3 ER, 5 BB and 3 K. Our rookie long reliever Luke Gregerson worked 3 perfect innings of relief with 3 K which was nice to see.
Elvis Andrus notched his first hit as a Padre as well.

Game 3: Padres vs Dodgers
Shawn Hill (0-0) vs Randy Wolf (0-0)
LA 8 - SD 2
Another sim game sees the Padres hurting to score runs, only managing 2 runs on 8 hits, while LA put up 8 runs on 11 hits, and once again James Loney kills us with 2 HR and 6 RBI.
For the Padres, Chris Burke hit a PH HR and Kouzmanoff knocked in his first RBI of the year but it wasn't nearly enough as the Dodgers hammered us.
Randy Wolf picked up the win going 6.2 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K.
Shawn Hill picked up the loss going 4.2 IP, 7 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 4 K.

Game 4: Padres vs Dodgers
Josh Geer (0-0) vs Eric Stults (0-0)
LA 10 - SD 7
A disappointing end to our four game opening series, as LA continues pounding us, this time to the tune of 10-7. Guess who had 4 more hits, including a HR and 3 RBI? Yep, James Loney. Add in 2 HR from Orlando Hudson and a HR from Andre Ethier and our staff was just put to sleep by the Dodgers.
Chase Headley had a HR and 4 RBI for us, while Kouzmanoff added his own HR and 2 RBI, but we're still lacking production from Andrus and Gonzalez, who're hitting .187 and .125 respectively, though only four games in. Andrus did have 2 hits today which was nice, but we need him to be elite to do anything at all.
Eric Stults picked up the win for LA going 6.2 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 1 K.
Josh Geer took the loss for us, going 4 IP, 4 ER, 4 BB, 2 K.

Game 5: Padres vs Giants
Derek Holland (0-0) vs Barry Zito (0-0)
SF 1 - SD 0
Two games I've played, two 1-0 scores. This time I was on the flip side as Barry f'ing Zito just shut us down. He went 8.1 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 7 K. We couldn't solve him. Lots of weak grounders. Usually I am better then this, but our offense is pretty terrible.
Derek Holland went 6 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 8 K for us. He looked good, and our pen did a solid job but we just cannot seem to get our offense going. It's going to be a very long season it looks like.

Game 6: Padres vs Giants
Chris Young (1-0, 0.00 ERA) vs Jonathan Sanchez (0-0, 0-00 ERA)
SD 4 - SF 1
We finally have a solid game offensively as we pound out 11 hits, but only 4 guys scored. Thankfully Chris Young was dealing for us and the lack of runs didn't bite us today.
Chris Young threw a CG, 3 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 11 K performance for the win.
Jonathan Sanchez went 6 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 8 K for the loss.
Elvis Andrus had 2 doubles, while Cliff Floyd added 2 RBI on a triple in relief of Chase Headley who was given the night off.
A nice win to end a 4 game slide.

4 more runs gets the job done tonight, though it was against a team with an offense probably more anemic then ours.
Evereth Cabrera, filling in for Andrus who needed a night off, had 3 hits, two of which were triples, and 2 RBI. Adrian Gonzalez also added 2 hits, including a HR, and our other 2 RBI to complete our scoring.
Chad Gaudin went 7.1 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 5 K for the win.
Tim Linecum went 5.2 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 7K for the loss.

Another simmed game that sees our offense scuffle. Hundley had an RBI double to give us our own run, while the Mets had a balanced attack that saw 4 different players knock in RBI, including the usual suspects in Wright and Reyes.
Hill went 6 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 4 K for the loss

Things are getting frustrating as we just cannot do anything right at the dish. Adrian Gonzalez 2 hit game puts him over .200 for the first time all season, while Hundley adds a HR, and Headley knocks in our only other run.
Meanwhile Daniel Murphy hits two triples, and Ryan Church has two solo shots as the Mets pound out 7 runs on 9 hits.
Josh Geer goes 3 IP, 7 H, 5 ER, 3 BB, 3 K for the loss.
Mike Pelfrey goes 8.1 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4K for the win.

Unbelievable. I have never been this bad offensively as I am with this team. We are once again blanked 1-0, as Oliver Perez and K-Rod combine to hold us to two hits. We manage 5 walks, but we just can't get hits to drop. I am speechless.
Fernando Tatis provided the only run of the game with a solo jack off a bad slider I left over the plate but other then that Holland was a stud.
Holland went 7 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 8 K for the loss.
Perez went 7.1 IP, 2 H, 3 BB, 7 K for the win.

I make some drastic lineup changes and they result in a 5 run 6th and 4 run 7th. Scott Hairston started in CF and hit leadoff, and was 4-5 with a HR and 4 RBI. Evereth Cabrera hit 8th, and played 2B and was 3 for 5 with an RBI. Elvis Andrus hit 5th and was 3-4 with 2 runs scored. SD 6 - PHI 2
Finally a game I play that has some offense. Scott Hairston was nails again leading off, going 4 for 5. Headley was the only other guy with multiple hits though, as he had 2. Thankfully we saved hits for the 9th.
It was a 2-2 game in the 9th, when Adrian Gonzalez uncorked a low fastball off Scott Eyre to make it 3-2. Cabrera and Blanco single, and then David Eckstein pinch hitting for the pitcher hits a 3 run bomb to make it 6-2 and put the game away. This new lineup is here to stay at least for the time being.
Kevin Correia went 6.1 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K in the ND.

Kellen Kulbacki: Hitting .338 in AAA with 3 HR and 11 RBI, he is probably our top prospect but he has a ways to go. At 24 though he is looking like he needs about 1.5 more years in the Minors before he is our every day LF.
Matt Latos: 22 year old SP is currently 1-1 with a 3.63 ERA in AA. He is going to be a stud. Probably 2 years away from cracking our rotation, but he could earn a AAA call up eventually this year and then have an outside shot at the big club next year in ST.
Justin Smoak: The 23 year old 1B is currently hitting .250 with 3 HR and 12 RBI in AAA. He was a big piece of the Jake Peavy trade and should eventually be our 1B, or be used again to acquire some depth elsewhere. 1B is one position where we're set for live.
Kyle Blanks: The other 23 year old 1B we have is hitting .299 with 5 HR and 14 RBI in AA. He is blocked by Smoak and Gonzalez obviously, but a position change isn't out of the question. Chances are though we trade him in an effort to help fill some holes.
Jaff Decker: Decker is a 19 year old phenom RF prospect who is currently hitting .317 with 1 HR and 7 RBI in AA. He is a can't touch type player who along with Kulbacki could be an amazing LF - RF combo for us for the next 10 years.
Cedric Hunter: Hunter is a 21 year old speed demon CF who is going to complete our OF of the future sooner rather then later. Only hitting .231 in AAA, he still has 1 HR and 5 RBI, along with 12 runs and 6 SB. He mighnefit from a trip to AA for a bit but he is a guy who can be a prototype leadoff man for us in the future.

Scouting Update
With the third pick in the MLB Draft in June our focus right now is to add some quality pitching depth, but we will go BPA at #3. Currently we have 3 guys right now we're really looking at.
SP Mitchell Croft: He is a 19 year old righty from the Western US. He has a solid breaking ball, great stamina and the tools to be a superstar according to our scouts.
SP Marks Beato: A 20 year old righty from the Central US, he seems like he has a lot of potential but struggles with stamina and some control issues. Doesn't seem the prospect Croft is but it's still early.
SP Anastacio Guerrero: A 21 year old lefty from the Eastern US, he would be my guess to go #1 at this point. Has control issues, but also has the tools to be a Superstar. Has a great splitter but needs to find another pitch to K guys with. If the draft were today he'd be our pick if available at #3.
We continue to focus on SP and IF but one player I am intrigued with is LF Conor Thorman. We haven't scouted him yet but he has the highest caliber rating so far. I doubt we look at him if we rate a pitcher his equal but if it turns out he's our highest player on the board we'd snatch him up asap.

Catch Nick Hundley is heating up big time as he had 3 hits including 2 doubles and 5 RBI. Chase Headley add 2 more RBI and Derek Holland even had one to help his own cause for us.

Adrian Gonzalez and Hundley had two hits for us, and Kouzmanoff hit a solo HR, but that was the only notable offense we had.

Pence hit a 3 run bomb in the first and Lee hit a bases loaded double in the third to give Houston an early 6-0 lead, and from there Oswalt was dealing. San Diego makes two big deals
The San Diego Padres made two trades today. One massive trade, one minor trade and a huge promotion.
The big news of the day was the Padres trading RF Brian Giles and one of their top prospects, 1B Kyle Blanks to the Tampa Bay Rays for SP Wade Davis. Davis is considered a top 5 prospect by the Rays but their surplus of arms made this deal work. Blanks will be a future DH for the Rays, and Giles gives them a Vet in the OF that they need. Davis will go to AAA but could be called up at any time.
The second move of the day saw the Rays send CF Jody Gerut to the White Sox for minor league SP Kyle McCullough. McCullough will also head to AAA.
The big news is that this deal opened up the door for OF Kellen Kulbacki to head up the big club where he will be the new starting RF.

We get a big 7th, scoring 6 runs, to push us over the hump and get us a much needed win. Gonzalez drives in 2 and Headley drives in 3. Kulbacki got a night off and ended up pinch hitting, but he walked to end his hit streak. Regardless, we won and we needed it badly.

May Farm Update
Our AA team is sitting pretty at 30-17. Cedric Hunter was sent down to AA to regain his form, and is hitting .272 with 3 HR and 13 RBI and will probably be promoted to AAA around July. Just needed to clear his head.
Cutter Dykstra, now the 1B in AA with Blanks gone has exploded hitting .316 with 5 HR and 29 RBI.
Jaff Decker is continuing to mash himself, hitting .318 with 6 HR and 25 RBI. This 19 year old is special, that's for sure.
Matt Latos is pitching well, with a 3.83 ERA to go with a 4-3 record.
RP Gabe DeHoyos is a remarkable 6-1 with a 1.26 ERA in 24 appearances.
Our AAA team in Portland is currently 25-24. Justin Smoak has struggled, hitting .235 with only 2 HR and 24 RBI. I might move him down to AA like Hunter to clear his head.
SP Cesar Ramos is 4-1 with a 2.24 ERA, and Wade Davis is 3-3 with a 4.08 ERA.

We lose a tough 13 inning game to the Rockies. Only 7 hits in 13 innings does that to you though. Headley had 2 RBI and Kouzmanoff added the 3rd one but we couldn't hold them in the 13th and lose a series to the worst team in baseball.

2009 Padres Draft Review
Mitchell Croft: Croft is a hard throwing RHP who has great stamina, though currently lacks ideal control. At only 19 he is expected to develop in AA for two seasons, before having a shot at the big club. I love his potential. He could be a stud. He signed a 3 year contract for us.
Cha-Seung Ye: The 21 year old catcher was a pick I didn't plan on making but he fell to us and I couldn't not pull the trigger. He has a ton of power, and decent speed. Behind the plate he is adequate but could turn into a solid defensive catcher. He signed a 3 year contract.
Van Kang: Kang is a 19 year old CF who will probably project into a corner OF or 1B with his lack of speed. He has a ton of power, but needs to work on his contact and vision at the dish. He signed a 3 year contract.
Omar Coco: The 20 year 2B is fast as hell and slick defensively. Other guys were better offensively, but I think he can be a great role player for us down the line. He signed a 5 year deal.
Radahmes Nieves: The 18 year old SS is a solid player. He was taken primarily because he is only 18 and has room for growth. Chances are he won't ever make our club with Andrus ahead of him but the hope he is can become an asset to trade. He signed a 4 year deal.

Looking at my roster this year, I made a few mistakes thinking I had more MI depth then I did, I let guys go, and am now stuck with a rookie in 4th round pick Omar Coco has our utility man. I'll make a deal eventually but early on he shouldn't play much.
Our staff is meh, our pen looks good, and our offense is a mixed bag.
Dukes is going to be our starting CF for now. His ratings look great. I hope him getting a chance helps.
Justin Smoak will make the opening day roster. We'll see how that goes.

April Recap
We finish April out with 4 wins in our last 7 games, though it should've been 5 of 7, but Heath Bell blew a game we had no business losing vs the Giants, costing us a sweep that would've been huge for morale.
Offensively we're starting to mash. Some of our top guys are:
Elijah Dukes: .295/6 HR/16 RBI
Adrian Gonzalez: .296/7 HR/21 RBI
Kellen Kulbacki: .333/0 HR/12 RBI
Kulbacki is going to move up to the two hole, following Andrus. Headley will hit 5th now.
Pitching wise we're our starters are great, but our pen isn't.
Chris Young is 2-2 with a 2.87 ERA
Chad Gaudin is 1-1 with a 2.70 ERA
Vicente Padilla is 1-3 with a 4.29 ERA
Josh Geer is 0-1 with a 3.27 ERA
Kevin Correia is 0-1 with a 3.57 ERA

April League Leaders
Stephen Drew is hitting an absurd .441 to lead the bigs in average. He is on the DL though after his torrid start.
Nate McLouth and Jim Thome both have 10 HR in April to give them a share of the HR lead at this point in the year.
Albert Pujols has 27 RBI to lead the MLB in that category. Both Thome and McLouth are right behind him though at 26.
Jake Peavy is one of 8 pitches at 4 wins early on, though he supports a 4.08 ERA so he is benefiting from quite an explosive Rangers offense.
AJ Burnett leads the league in ERA with a .72 clip for the Yanks. Remarkably he is only 2-1.
Javier Vasquez already has 50 K's to lead the league by a wide margin. The Braves as a whole are just playing absurd baseball, highlighted by the play of Carl Crawford in FA.
Atlanta Braves 21 year old rookie CL Tod Haley current leads the league with 13 saves. He was the 7th pick in last years draft.

April Farm Review
In Portland, the home of our AAA team, our two young studs Mitchell Croft and Matt Latos are dealing. Croft, last years #3 pick, is 1-1 with a 1.64 ERA. Our scout says he has A potential and will be a future star. Chances are he could be in the bigs sometime next season. Meanwhile Matt Latos is 2-1 with a 2.31 ERA. His B+ potential is going to make him a solid #3 starter for us in the future. These two kids are huge for us for the future.
Meanwhile our hitters in AAA are lead by 1B Cutter Dykstra who is hitting .322 with 9 HR and 22 RBI. Rookie CF Van King is only hitting .235 but has 4 HR and 17 RBI. C Cha-Seung Ye struggled early but is up to .222 with 2 HR and 6 RBI, and SS Radhames Nieves is hitting .272 with 1 HR and 7 RBI, but he also has 5 SB.
In AA Jaff Decker is hitting .325 with 6 HR and 17 RBI and should expect to be in AAA soon. Cedric Hunder is only hitting .212 with 4 HR and 9 RBI, but he has an impressive 10 SB already.
Our AA pitchers all seem solid but not spectacular.

Padres and Twins swing a deal
With Cutter Dykstra improving rapidly at AAA, and Adrian Gonzalez firmly entrenched at 1B, the Padres traded 1B Justin Smoak to Minnesota for 2B Alexi Casilla. Casilla was brought in to provide speed and defense and is an upgrade over Cabrera at 2B. He also allows Coco to head to AA where he belongs.
San Diego also called up Will Venable to play some OF/1B.

May 2nd - 8th
We have another over .500 week going 4-3 with a win over ATL, COL and 2 vs ARZ. Kevin Correia was clutch with 2 wins in his 2 starts, while Alex Serrao had a win and 2 losses in relief.
Elvis Andrus was hot all week, as was Adrian Gonzalez, while Kulback really tapered off.
We now sit at 12-17 on the season.

May 9th - 15th
We go 3-4 this week, with 3 losses to the Nationals, including losing to Strasburg in his big league debut.
Our bullpen took 3 losses this week, while Young and Gaudin both had wins. Gaudin also took the loss vs Strasburg though he only allowed 3 runs in the game.
Adrian Gonzalez only had 3 hits this week and his average took a nosedive to .277. Kulbacki picked it up and is back around .295 but we need more consistent games if we want to do anything this year.
We sit at 15-21 now.

Great read, just picked this game up yesterday.
I like what you've done with the Padres so far.

Thanks. It's been fun.
Yeah the team is actually getting more consistent hitting lately, but the bullpen is awful. I am going to bring up a kid or two because I think we can be a .500 team that competes in a relativley weak West if our pen can be even somewhat decent.

Padres May Farm Review
Jaff Decker continues to rake with a .315 average, 9 HR and 31 RBI in AA. Our potential future CL Wynn Pelzer is 17/17 in saves also in AA.
Cutter Dykstra is hitting .295 with 14 HR and 41 RBI in AAA. While rookie Van King is hitting .277 with 10 HR and 30 RBI. The other rookeis are struggling though, as Cha-Seung Ye is still hitting just above .200 and Nieves is down to .214.
Mitchell Croft is 4-4 with a 2.34 ERA for Portland. He has 9 QS so far. Meanwhile Matt Latos is cooling down some, at 3-3 with a 4.35 ERA but he was great early on and should end up correcting himself.
