Smackdown General Manager Teddy Long opens up the new era of Smackdown carrying out the WWE Heavyweight Title. He says that since it's a new era, this title is officially vacant and will be awarded to the winner of a 16 man tournament culminating at WrestleMania 24! The sixteen men entered would be determined by a drawing done in the back, and tonight our first two match will occur as Shawn Michaels takes on Umaga and John Cena takes on Smackdown newcomer Chris Hero! (B+)

We cut to backstage were the Undertaker studies the monitor, nodding an approval at the annoucement when he is blindsided and destroyed by Umaga. Umaga continues the assault with fists and a chair until security breaks it up! (B+)

Finlay defeated Paul Burchill in 11:29 by pinfall with a Celtic Cross (C)

Edges theme music plays and an irate Edge walks to the ring. He says it's BS he loses his title because some idiots from before couldn't run their company, and now he gets no respect. Regardless, he promises he'll keep the WWE World Title and next week on Smackdown, when he faces Rey Mysterio Jr in his first round match, he is going to make a statement! (B+) This leads to Mysterio coming out promising Edge he is biting off more then he can chew and tonight Rey will show Edge what hes up against when he takes on MVP (C+)

Montel Vontavious Porter defeated Rey Mysterio in 10:32 by pinfall with a Ballin' Elbow (C-)

Brothers of Destruction defeated Dave Taylor and Steven Regal in 10:57 when Undertaker defeated Steven Regal by pinfall with a Tombstone (C+)

Out of the crowd comes another newcomer to Smackdown, this one being Larry Sweeney. Sweeney promises that SD is about to become Sweet n' Sour, and he is prediciting a takeover is about to happen. (D-)

John Cena hits the ring before his match, bumping into HBK who is walking to the back. Cena says he respects Shawn, but he knows that HBK is just another victim in his pursuit to reclaiming gold in the WWE (B+)

- Smackdown! drew a 1.97 on the CW, an awful rating we need to fix or else we're in trouble. Thankfully, our next show is shaping up nice with Edge vs Mysterio and Kane vs Mr. Kennedy, plus a whole lot more.

- ECW brought back Raven as they look to retool their roster. Ex-WWE Diva Mickie James is another notable to sign with them.

- Smackdown! GM Teddy Long issued a release regarding the first Smackdown PPV under in this new era, which will be entitled "Last Man Standing" and will be headlined by the two Semi Final matches of the WWE Heavyweight Title Tournament.

- Also announced for the show will be a 10 man Battle Royal for the United States Title and a four corners tag team Ladder match for the vacant World Tag Team Titles, which will be James Gibson and Jimmy Yang vs the Briscoe Brothers vs Santino Marella & The Miz vs Cody Rhoades & Hardcore Holly.

Edge then spits in HBK faces, only to be clocked by the Showstopper causing Edge to flea the ring and head to the back (B+)

Finlay defeated Bryan Danielson in 7:49 by pinfall with a Celtic Cross (C+)

John Cena comes out and says last week was just the beginning of his pursuit for the Heavyweight Title, and let his beating of Chris Hero show that if ANYONE gets in his way, they too will be another victim to the Chain Gang! (B+)

Umaga defeated Kane in 13:01 by pinfall with a Samoan Spike (B-)

Shawn Michaels is seen in the back, fired up about what happened with Edge. He tells Edge to bring his lucky rabbits foot with him to the ring tonight because HBK wants to meet him at WM 24 for that Heavyweight Title! (B+)

Ken Kennedy comes out and says he is moving on to the next round of the SD Title Tournament! He says loopoles are a mans best friend and because of an error by Teddy Long the Umaga vs Kane match was scheduled as a tournament match. Since Kennedy was contractually obligated to the tournament, and not booked for the match he would move on in Umagas place, a man who was already eliminated. Kennedy thanks Teddy Long for his incompetence and promises John Cena will be toast.(B-)

Santino Morella defeated Tommy Dreamer in 10:12 by pinfall with a Rolling Cutter (D+) The Miz comes to the ring post match and lays the boots into Dreamer. He then motions that he and Marella will soon be WWE World Tag Team Champions! (C)

Michael Cole and Jonathan Coachman hype up our next match, Rey Mysterio Jr vs Dave Taylor (C+) Rey Mysterio defeated Dave Taylor in 7:48 by pinfall with a West Coast Pop (C-) As Mysterio celebrates, Steven Regal comes out from the back and drills him with a pair of brass knux. From there he and Dave Taylor stretch Mysterio out to a chorous of boos (C+)

Shawn Michaels and John Cena are in the ring. They promise tonight Edge and Umaga will see what its like to take on two of the finest in the industry, but when that smoke clears, HBK promises Cena his focus will be on their side of the bracket and their potential match at Last Man Standing! (B)

Finlay is backstage warming up for his match with Mr. Kennedy when he gets jumped from behind by Kennedy, who beats him relentlessly with his microphone (B)

Undertaker defeated Steven Regal in 9:41 by pinfall with a Chokeslam (B-) Umaga comes out onto the ramp and stares at Undertaker. He points to the screen which replays footage from two weeks ago where Umaga left Undertaker a bloodied mess. Undertaker rolls his eyes back and the lights go off. When they return he is no where to be seen (B)

Rey Mysterio Jr is seen backstage. He says what the Blue Bloods did earlier was a joke but he promises he just won't sit like a bitch and let them run roughshod over him so next week he is making a challenge for a tag match between Regal & Taylor and Mysterio and a mystery partner! (C)

Shawn Michaels and John Cena defeated Edge and Umaga in 15:42 when Shawn Michaels defeated Edge by pinfall with a Sweet Chin Music (B-) Post match HBK and Cena share an awkard exchange which ends with HBK Superkicking him and promising that nothing will stop him from reclaiming the Heavyweight Title! Smackdown opens up with Finlay backstage, stretching for his tournament match with the Undertaker when out of nowhere he is blindsided by Matt Hardy, Tommy Dreamer, Chris Hero and Bryan Danielson. They begin to pummel him to a surprisingly great crowd reaction. (D) The four men make their way to the ring where Matt Hardy gets on the mic. He says since his injury he's had time to think about how stars are never made anymore, but now with the help of Dreamer, they're going to turn Hero and Danielson into the biggest stars Smackdown will ever see! (D)

Undertaker defeated Finlay in 12:05 by pinfall with a Chokeslam (B-) After the match Undertaker gets on the mic. He says tonight he'll know who's time it'll be to rest in peace at Last Man Standing though he says he personally will be rooting Edge. (B+)

Ken Kennedy, watching on the monitor as the Undertaker cuts his promo looks irate. He begins looking around for a way to take out his anger on his potential competition and sees Kane. Kennedy runs at him and begins to hit him with lefts and rights, screaming the entire time that the Undertaker, John Cena, Shawn Michaels, Egde, it doesn't matter, they won't get in Kennedys away in his quest to be the Champion! (B+)

We see a highlight from last week where Rey Mysterio Jr challenged the Blue Bloods to face he and a mystery partner. Regal and Taylor are backstage with MVP of all people watching the replay from last week. (C+) Regal and Taylor decide to hit the ring after whispering something to MVP who smiles. They come out and tell Rey his challenge is accepted for next week. (C+)

Shawn Michaels defeated Montel Vontavious Porter in 14:32 by pinfall with a Sweet Chin Music (C+)

Edge defeated Santino Morella in 9:44 by pinfall with a Spear (C) After the match as Edge celebrates the lights go out. When they come on the Undertaker is in the middle of the ring staring at Edge. Edge tries to run but gets goozled for his trouble, then dropped with a hellacious chokeslam. (B)

Umaga defeated Johnny Jeter in 7:50 by pinfall with a Buttalanche (C)

John Cena defeated Ken Kennedy in 20:21 by submission with a STFU (B) As the bell sounds Shawn Michaels comes out after Cena. Edge sneaks out from the crowd and goes after both men. This leads to the Undertaker hitting the ring and all four men brawl as SD goes off the air (A*)

The Miz and Santino Marella hit the ring. They say that tonight those WWE World Tag Team Titles will be brought back to the greatest team in WWE History .. Santino and the Miz! (B-)

Santino Morella and The Miz defeated Jay Briscoe and Mark Briscoe, Jamie Noble and Jimmy Wang Yang and Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes in 22:33 when Santino Morella retrieved the item. Santino Morella and The Miz win the WWE Tag Team titles (D-)

Edge is seen pacing backstage. He knows there are only three men left that potentially stand in his way from reclaiming whats rightfully his. So tonight after he carves through the Undertaker it'll be HBK or Cena who endure the beating of a lifetime at WrestleMania. Regardless of who it is, they will be just another notch in his belt, and hold a place in history as the man beat to start his never ending reign as champion! (B+)

Mr. Kennedy comes out to the ring before the United States title battle royal. He says that there is too much BS going on backstage about who the best man is. Is it Edge? Is it Michaels? Is it Cena? Well no, it's just KENNEDEY! And the only reason I'm not in the main event tonight is because of a god damn fluke. But tonight he erases that bitter taste and brings gold around his waist! (B-)

Ken Kennedy won a battle royal in 30:22. The final four competitors also included Umaga, Montel Vontavious Porter and Kane, with Umaga being the final elimination. Ken Kennedy wins the WWE United States title. (C) Kennedy celebrates with the US Title held high over his head (B-)

A video plays showing what has lead us to Cena vs Michaels tonight (B+) Cut to Cena in the back. He says it's been a battle to get here, but the war is just about to begin! (B+) Shawn Michaels defeated John Cena in 24:51 by pinfall with a Sweet Chin Music (B-) With the match over a dejected John Cena gets up and offers his hand as a show of respect. HBK obliges and the crowd gives both men a round of applause (B+)

A video plays showcasing the Undertakers fifteen years of dominace (B+) Edge defeated Undertaker in 24:45 by pinfall with a Spear (A) With Edge celebrating, HBK walks down to the ring and stands nose to nose with Edge. That's the final image we see as Last Man Standing goes off the air (B+)

Shawn Michaels defeated Finlay in 12:33 by pinfall with a Sweet Chin Music (B) With the the match over HBK celebrates when Edge sneaks out for the crowd and attempts a spear. HBK moves out of the way then lays Edge out with a Superkick! (B+)

Teddy Long comes out and lets Edge know that because of his constant interference as of late he'll be in action tonight vs the man whos life he ruined, Matt Hardy!! (B-)

Rey Mysterio and John Cena defeated Dave Taylor and Steven Regal in 14:52 when Rey Mysterio defeated Steven Regal by pinfall with a West Coast Pop. During the match we also had Montel Vontavious Porter run in and attack Cena (C+) Following the match the Heels lay into Cena and Rey. MVP ties up Cena to the ropes with tape and procees to bash Reys knee in with a chair. An irate Cena screams for help but it's too late as Rey is left bloodied and unconcious. (C+)

The new WWE World Tag Team Champions make their way to the ring, the Miz and Santino. Santino gets on the mic and says last night the Legion of Dumb and Suckolition are mere footnotes in history now that Santino and Miz proudly wear these belts! The Miz grabs the mic and tells everyone they're in store for quite a Reality Check (C)

Umaga defeated Paul Burchill in 8:13 by pinfall with a Samoan Spike (C)

Matt Hardy defeated Edge in 16:23 by pinfall following interference from Shawn Michaels (B-)

The show ends with a view of a hospital where Rey Mysterio is being taken to the ER. Smackdown GM Teddy Long is with him and says that this week when the new SD! Show Warrior Code debuts that MVP and the Blue Bloods will have hell to pay! (B-)
