We've had fun threads the last two offseasons digging into all the decisions that face a specific NFL team.
FOFC GroupThink 2022: We take over the NY Football Giants (https://forums.operationsports.com/fofc/showthread.php?t=98066&highlight=Giants)
FOFC GroupThink 2023: We take over the Detroit Lions (https://forums.operationsports.com/fofc/showthread.php?t=98871)
I just launched the first two by fiat. For next offseason... who should we take up?
The theme of "big draft capital" seems alluring, so that presents the Bears and Cardinals as candidates. Both have tricky QB situations and are amidst some manner of rebuilding, which I like too.
Other candidates that come to mind for me: Panthers, Browns, Chargers, Patriots
What say us all?

I'm all for sharing the misery that comes with the Bears

My vote is for Da Bears

I vote Bears. Interesting convo on whether or not to keep Fields, what to do with the #1 pick, what to do with the other first rounder, who on the coaching staff should be fired (everyone), etc.

I'm along for the ride for sure, but I'll defer to the group vis a vis team choice.

I'm definitely in. It was super fun last year, obviously because it was the Lions, but the overall exercise is great.
Either the Bears or Cards are a great choice.

The Bears don't have many drift picks after the two first-rounders. I'd vote Cards because they have so many picks.

The Cards' and Bears' situations are similar enough that...

...I find this persuasive as a sort of tie-breaker. Cards by a nose thus far.

Okay, before long we need to adopt a team for the 2025 offseason.
In the past we went with teams with a loaded draft, both because they tend to be rebuild projects, but also because it makes mock drafting more fun that way. Doesn't look like anyone holds an extra 1st this year, so nobody jumps out in that respect.
Candidates as rebuilding projects: Giants, Patriots, Raiders
Intriguing over-arching story lines: Jets/Rodgers&Co, Bengals and their "triplets" conundrum, Saints/Dolphins and their cap/age crises, Browns and their QB curse

I would say Raiders, mostly because the Giants have already been done. Plus, the league is better when the Raiders are better.

Clearly my Cards didn't listen to us.

Bears need love but we are clearly not done with the cardinals
But the raiders, Patriots, and panthers all need help...oh yeah and the saints

I'm biased (and not exactly a big participant) but I think the Patriots are more interesting for this than Vegas or the Giants. In both the latter cases it's really draft Shadeur/Cam Ward up high and pray - even if it probably shouldn't be because they're not nearly the prospects last year's top 3 QB's were. (Panthers in a similar boat except instead of a new guy you're talking yourself into Bryce being real.) Cards still fun, Cowboys might be another who presents an interesting team building challenge. Browns are the single most depressing, an owner who refuses to cut and eat Deshaun Watson's $80 million dead cap or whatever it still is might be the worst house rule ever.

yeah, I want to see what folks do with the Patriots.

Personally, I think I'd enjoy the Saints the most from the batch of apparent choices, but among the rebuilds I think the Raiders for me. I'm merely the showrunner here, so that's not final, just my own inclinations.

I think that the Panthers might be an interesting choice given their QB situation

I'd also be out on the Raiders because it seems like the first pick obviously has to be a quarterback.
As of right now, the Bears own four picks in the top 71 and are also in need of a new coaching staff (and maybe a GM). The Jaguars are another candidate, with six picks in the first four rounds and (probably) also in need of a coach.

I'd say the Bears, but I wouldn't quibble with the Jaguars.

The Patriots are the team I'd leave on the church doorstep, not the team I'd adopt.
