I would rather have seen a built in or packed in HDD than any of this. Also, the PS2 is getting pretty long in the tooth to be still be the most expensive console. If the Xbox goes through with a price drop, this could be pivotal for the rest of this generation. Not that Xbox will catch the PS2, but I would think that anyone sitting on the fence between the two would have to be swayed towards the Xbox.

I disagree. The XBox doesn't look like a good long term investment. The main reason I say so is that it has no support in Japan. That's what killed N64. The XBox doesn't even have the same level of support Dreamcast did out here.

I realize that Gates has deep pockets, and he can keep paying Tecmo and the rest of these companies to keep releasing exclusive titles for them. But the smaller companies, where the real game innovation happens ( Ico for example ) are all gonna be multi or PS2 exclusive.

The PS2 is still selling much better than the other 2 consoles combined (3 if you count the Dreamcast :)), so I don't see how it is overpriced. Also, if the X-box slashes its price and starts selling better, I'm sure Sony will match. They have that killer instinct.
