Australian Rules Football on ESPN2. I miss the early days of ESPN when you could find all sorts of sports like this being aired.
What is the Irish game where they hit the ball with the stick. Hurling? Or something like that?

I remember there used to be a local sports channel that would play Aussi Rules Football every weekend. They also had a show with the 4 or 5 old sportswriters that sat around a table talking sports. When the show would go to commercial it had a typewriter sound effect. Kinda cheesy and way outdated for the mid-90s.
Can't remember the name of the channel. Wnet away to college and when I came back after the first semester, the channel was gone. They must have depended on me watching to stay alive...

Thought this was going to be about a new Goldie Hawn/Chevy Chase movie.

Not sure if you grew up in the Chicago area, but this sounds a lot like 'The Sports Writers on TV' show that ran on the old SportsChannel back in the day...

That was the Sports Reporters show. It ran on ESPN for a while.

Philly, but that sounds like it. A little searching shows SportsChannel Philadelphia closed on in 1997, which would be around the right time (that would have been my sophmore year).

The Aussie rules game from last night turned out to be really good. Richmond made a hell of a comeback to beat Sydney. I loved watching it.

They came back to win? I turned it off when it looked like it was becoming a route.

They may have had something like that on PRISM (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PRISM_%28TV_network%29) too.

Yeah, Richmond somehow managed to come back. Impressive stuff.

If there's a league out there called AFL, I'm all over it.

The Anti-Football League (http://antifootballleague.org/)
The Anti-Football League (AFL) is an Australian organisation of individuals who are indifferent to the excessive fervour that afflicts supporters of the Australian code of football known as Australian Rules Football (”Aussie Rules”). The AFL stands apart from the Football mania that is ever increasingly saturating our workplaces, media outlets and public spaces, and which at certain times of the year reaches excessive and epidemic proportions.

All joking aside, that was a big comeback win for Richmond, considering they sit in 2nd to last place and new coach Damien Hardwick certainly doesn't want to start off his Richmond career with a wooden spoon.
