Are there any quality new (or older) sim games for the NBA. With the Thunder in town, I'm starting to get more into the NBA in terms of more than casually following (i.e., I'm starting to figure out what a mid-level exception is). The salary cap structure makes a sim game more challenging/intriguing than I thought it might have been.
I'd want a game that at least could be updated easily to this year's rosters...basically a game that has a roster set availible already that I don't have to work on or anything.

DDSPB over at Wolverine Studios is a good one...

I don't think anyone made a roster pack for this year for DDSPB, though.

I agree about DDSPB. Version 2 is eventual, but no specific release date if it matters to you about having the latest and greatest...
I played this a lot, even thought I prefer the college game. And now I'm hooked on NBA 2K9 even with its flaws so I haven't played it in a while though.

Do you get a trial with the game? I want to try it out first or at least see if it will work on Vista. But mainly, I want to get a feel for it.

DDSPB is very good and I enjoy playing it.
the one major flaw for me is the locked in archaic 1024x768 screen resolution. The game looks beautiful and works well, but the screen thing just kills me.
I love the ingame expiernce of PC Action Basketball
Action! PC Baseball (http://www.dksports.com/basketball.htm)
my favorite in game experience and a game I would have killed for 15 years ago, but in todays era I need the GM side of things and this doesn't have any of that. I keep hoping for some sort of merger with the Action guy - all of the gameplay is really good - if he could combine his game with some of the others I think we would really have something.

In the full version, can you edit more than just the superficial nickname/city, or can you actually edit the data regarding population, arena, etc.?

You can edit everything but not from the game itself. you can do it either using the mod kit also available in the Wolverinestudios forum or editing directly in the database using Microsoft access or Openoffice.

Or any database editing program.
I use MDBPlus.
