Please settle a household bet.
In Star Wars are the AT AT's pronounced like the word 'at' or pronounced with each letter A-T-A-T?

Good ole nerd discussion about it here: http://boards.theforce.net/classic_trilogy/b10002/27860647/p1/?94
aye-te-aye-te seems to be winning there. There doesn't seem to be an "official" word from Lucasfilm either. Mentioned in there is that in some of the games they use "at-at" though, so that may make it canonical.

Some games say "at-at" and other have used A-T-A-T. The films never say it, and the novels obviously don't mention how it's pronounced.
All Terrain Armored Transport - Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/All_Terrain_Armored_Transport)
"AT-AT is pronounced "at-at" in Star Wars: Force Commander, and Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds. They are also called "A-T-A-T"s briefly in Star Wars: Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader. In Star Wars: Battlefront 2 both terms are used. However, in Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron, it is pronounced "A-T-A-T""
There are several other AT type transports. AT-HE, AT-PT, AT-TE, etc., some of which you can't pronounce the second part and have to say the letters.
Plus, "at-"at" just sounds really stupid.

While "officially" they called "A" "T" "A" "T", I think they are really better well known as AT ATs. It's sort of like the acronym M.A.D.D. People call it "Madd", not "M" "A" "D" "D". Other acronym's, however, like "D.O.J." or "N.F.L." or "A" "T" "S" "T" don't sound as good when said as words, so they are not.

AT-AT is pronounced "at-at" in Star Wars: Force Commander (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Force_Commander), and Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds. Dola,
I don't think the bet was settled.
We had actually decared my son the winner. He was pushing A-T-A-T. The A-T-S-T argument is pretty compelling to me, but I probably know less about Star Wars than pretty much anybody.
I would have thought 'At At' would have been more prevelant with the older crowd. My son (9 years old) obviously has access to more Star Wars information than my wife would have at the time she would have started using the term 'At At'. My wife had never even heard of A-T-S-T's.

It isn't the narrators job to decide how to pronounce it. I am sure that someone told him how.
And that someone had to sign off on it from the toy company (kenner.)
And the person at Kenner had to get the right info from the source, and that source should be recognized universally as that of Lucasarts.
And we all know who is at the head of Lucasarts.
Logic prevails everytime.:p

The CORRECT way to pronounce the damn thing is "all terrain armoured transport". The acronym is AT-AT, and how you want to pronounce that is up to you.
