(To be aired Tuesday 9-11 PM)

The cards are in the air at the 2008 World Series of Poker Final table. ESPN has a live blog up. Fair warning, as a liveblog, if you click this link, you WILL be spoiled.

I'm sure that cardplayer and othersites will be liveblogging as well. Play is expected to run till around midnight according to the liveblog. Not sure if that's midnight eastern or pacific ;)

45 minutes in to the final table, and we haven't seen a single flop

Down to 7. Horrible beat knocked out the ninth place guy. 77 vs AQ, all in pre-flop. Flop A-10-7. 77 has trips versus a pair of aces, except another A wouldn't help (trips versus Boat). But there's one way for the guy to win. The double gutshot straight. Jack on the turn, King on the river.) yes, it was a coin flip going in, but what a horrible beat if you look at it postflop

With the delay, what if someone can't make it (becomes ill or dies). Are they in theory still in the tournament and they just have their blinds posted?

This is good news. The reruns on ESPN2 of 2007 or earlier from midnight to 5 AM (or whatever) were getting boring. Now I'll have something new to watch while feeding the baby at those times.

the delay has really made me lose interest in this. I am also dissapointed the final table wasn't available for PPV.

And if they weren't ever planning on showing it live what was the point?

I think ESPN thought they could "generate more excitement" by adding a delay to allow them to build up the players in their weekly show. But because interest and viewership is WAY down, I think this will have completely backfired (not that you will see Harrah's admit to it).

Yet another example of how an event has been changed for the worse due to the almighty TV Revenue dollar.
