As you open this thread i put a gun to your head and tell you to look at the clock. You have exactly 2 minutes to think of the song you consider the most beautiful of all time. There is no Q&A available, I simply repeat the question and state that no answer in 2 minutes will result in a bullet in your forehead.
There is no wrong answer, but any answer i consider a wiseass answer (very, very rare at FOFC, I assure you) results in not only your death but the killing of every living relative of yours.
Name me your song.

OK, I hate 80s music in general. And I am not a pop music person at all. AND I don't even know who sings it. But there is one song thats so sappy but gets me everytime:
Glory of Love from the Karate Kid movies.
I am a sap at heart though, so I guess its fitting.

I've been trying to cheat and come up with a sophisticated answer.
But the first think that popped into my head when I read this was:
"Skin" Rascal Flatts

Imagine is a tough one to beat, tbh.
But until I saw that, I was thinking Angels by Robbie Williams or Perfect Day by Lou Reed
"Hallelujah" written by Leonard Cohen.
eh reminds me I like Famous Blue Raincoat by L Cohen. Definitely up there. Sticking with my answer, though.
dola
A couple of honorable mentions since 2 minutes and a gun to my head didn't produce the most rational of answers (but I'll stand by it because I death sucks).
"O Mio Babbino Caro" from "Gianni Schicchi" by Giacomo Puccini
"Nella Fantasia" by Chiara Ferrau (based off of work by Ennio Morricone)

I'm long dead, but I'm changing my answer to Simon and Garfunkel singing Bridge Over Troubled Water.
I could list 7 or 8 other songs by them that are potentially worthy, Old Friends, America, Homeward Bound, April Come She Will, 59th Street Bridge Song, and probalby a lot of other ones if I pulled out the ipod and went through it.

Beatles - In My Life, and Barber's Adagio for Strings are good calls.
Surprised that no one's picked Ralph Vaughn Williams, Fanatasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis--that one gives me chills.

my answer, fwiw, is "If I Fell" by the Beatles. I created a self-imposed time limit when answering an annoyingly long 50 questions type thing from a friend, and some music question in there triggered me to think about this... that was the song that sprung to mind. i might have a different answer in an hour, but that was my honest gut reaction.

I'm torn between a few, but Pachelbel's Cannon in D was the winner.
Leia's Theme from the original Star Wars soundtrack by John Williams...
surely not the best I could come up with, but sheesh, two minutes? a frikkin gun? how 'm I s'posed ta concentrate?
I presumeably saved my life with my earlier answer, but I'd like to throw out a few quirky honorable mentions, with songs that some others might not consider, or even be familiar with:
Tool - 10000 Days (Wings Pt 2)
Dream Theater - Disappear
Little Wing - as performed by Stevie Ray Vaughn
Duran Duran - Ordinary World
...Simon and Garfunkel...
yup, lotta great material from those guys, Radii.
