Has anyone been able to purchase any of these deals? They had an Axion AXN6070A 7" Portable DVD Player (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00073JU2E/102-8541453-1577753) for $25.00. I was hitting F5 like crazy and never saw the price change.

So what's the secret to being one of the first 1000 to purchase it at this price?

From what I saw, they haven't put those on sale yet. From the website:

Due to the popularity of Amazon Customers Vote, we are extending the Week 2 voting period. Customers who cast a vote will soon be sent an e-mail notification of the new sale date. We'll also announce the new sale date here by Saturday, so watch this space!

Week One by the way was an X-Box 360 Core system for $100.
I love this spin. They are not cancelling todays flight; they are extending it untill tomorrow to allow more customers to buy tickets.

I guess this beats having to admit that last weeks sale was a complete disaster.

Anyway, check out last weeks thread on the xbox for ideas on how to score this deal. 1 FOFCer managed to land one by having multiple windows open at the same time. I was going to see if I could get any advice from FOFC about landing the DVD player myself this Thursday, oops, I mean next thursday since the deal has been Extended a week.

No, more like "let's give people another week to vote, since the vote is MUCH closer this time."

How was last week's deal a complete disaster? 1000 X-Box 360's were sold, and that was EXACTLY what was promised.

You some kind of Amazon-Wannabe or something?

"MUCH closer this time." What a load of crap this is.

Yeah Right, too close to call my ass. I think even the state of Florida could call this race.

But, if you are still having problems trying to figure out which number is bigger, I could loan you my calculator.:p

You do understand that this was a promotion? This wasn't just a way for Amazon.com to clear some shelf space, right?

If you took a poll of customer satisfaction on Wednesday and one after the promotion on Friday, do you think the poll numbers went up or down. This Promotion was a complete disaster in every way for Amazon.com.

When WKRP gave away those free Turkeys on Thanksgiving did their popularity with their fans increase or decrease? Some people may try to argue that they did give away 1,000 turkeys on Thanksgiving, but we know better don't we.:D

I'd have to agree with 14ers here on the success, at least on the surface, of the XBox thing.

They made 1000 people happy but frustrated, to varying degrees, 100x more people than that.

Unless they sold a helluva lot of merchandise above & beyond what they would have sold anyway to those who didn't get in on the deal, then this would be closer to disaster than to good idea.

As long as Amazon makes people feel like it's a fair fight, I don't think it's a bad deal for them.

But from most of what I've read here and elsewhere, that's not happening.

Nope, they let the scripters win. If you gave me some bullshit number, and it wasn't a winner, that's fine, but what went down was just stupid.

Well, for one, don't use the product page. You need to access via amazon.com/customers-vote.

See hxxp://promotions.amazon.com/gp/holiday/cv/buyingtips/ref=amb_link_3928012_1/103-7479919-4923816 for more details.

Uh, welcome to FOFC. The Snarky Persons corner is to your left. Some of our most frequent posters are over there, and you should get along fine with them.
