I believe this is the replacement for what was Napster back in the day.. Anyone use this or anything similar before? Are this types of P2P programs even worth it anymore?

I tried a few Kazaa clients a few years ago, and got nothing but spyware with them... quality of downloads was highly suspect.

The Napster age was like lightning in a bottle... I miss those days...

WinMX has been resurrected, and I've had good luck with them. Kazaa Lite was good while it was around, but I had so many problems with corrupted downloads I stopped using them.

Kazaa was decent but went downhill fast, very well known for spyware and all that...Kazaa Lite was a little better but they quickly went under fire and I don't hear of too many people using it. I rarely use these type of P2P programs anymore, but when I do, I use Ares.

I had a similar experience. Kazaa seemed to work pretty good back in the day, say, 2003 or so. Shortly there after it went downhill and was all corrupted files and spyware. I have not touched it or installed it onto a PC since.

Kazaa in its day was a great way to download free movies where everyone wasn't wearing clothes, ya know, those kind of movies?

I still use it to get music, but I haven't used it in awhile. I recently downloaded Shareaza, which seems to be ok, I just have to get used to it.

Two points:

1. Defend it however you want, "file sharing" is stealing and it's wrong.

2. When I file share, I use LimeWire. Highly recommended!

Edit I stopped using Kazaa a lon time ago, I currently use Warez P2P. I only use p2p to find the odd song I need that I cant find elsewhere. MIRC is the best place for full albums and movies though.

File-sharing is not stealing. However, some file-sharing is analagous to it (specifically, sharing copyrighted files that one party does not have permission to use and/or obtain).

Kazaa? Funny, because I finally got around to watching Purple Rain last night.

Yes, yes, I know. But you just described 99% of the traffic on the big p2p networks.

I thought those days were long gone. It is all about BitTorrent technology these days. Why don't you use something like uTorrent (http://www.utorrent.com/) or ABC (http://pingpong-abc.sourceforge.net/)?

Yep, I echo Blades sentiments. I use Limewire and have no problem. Kazaa sucks.

Unless you were actually using it to share large documents for school, which made the whole spyware thing annoying.

A) That's such a SMALL minority of what these p2p networks are for.

B) That's not what this thread is about using p2p for.
