Irregardless of age, injury or salary: Choose between having the top OPS guys at each position and having an average starting rotation with a 5 era or having a starting rotation of the top ERAs and having a lineup with 250 hitters with an average of 10 home runs.

Choice A:
C Varitek
1b Derrek Lee
2b Utley
SS Michael Young
3B Alex Rodriguez
RF Guerrero
CF Griffey
LF Manny

SP Mike Maroth SP Brian Lawrence SP Mark Redman SP Josh Fogg SP Kipp Wells

Choice B:
SP Clemens
SP Pettitte
SP Willis
SP Martinez
SP Carpenter

C Gregg Zaun 1b Erik Hinske 2b Craig Counsell SS Juan Uribe 3B Vinny Castilla RF Matt Lawton CF Brad Wilkerson LF Shannon Stewart

Assume both teams have lights out bullpens. Which team do you think would win more games?

If I'm in the NL, I probably go with the pitching. The AL, I'd probably go with the bats.

I'm just not sure you can win games in a league with the DH if you don't have bats.

They both are .500 ballclubs. I take Choice C: the Cardinals.

I think it's easier to find good hitters than good pitchers. Plus, if you make the playoffs, it seems like you're better off having some serious pitching ... on the other hand, consider the experience of the Braves under Bobby Cox, so never mind, I'll take the hitters.

one pitcher is injured and there goes 1 out of five games...a hitter is gone and how bad is the impact?

I'm pretty sure I can make a case for both those teams to win.

In the regular season, I'm taking the hitters. For the postseason, I'm taking the pitchers.
