The AI is very good. But like any computer game, once you learn the "quirks" of the AI, it's easier to beat. Most of us have played it for a few generations now and it's getting tougher each year. Needless to say, there are no large AI exploits anymore.

As for online leagues, that's the only way I play now. The experience is slower but vastly more interactive in a good league. Go over to www.fof-ihof.com and look at the forums and the amount of excitement a draft generates.

Either way, it beats the pants of the .400 offering - which is a good game by all accounts, but doesn't have the depth that FOF does.

wait...there's a game involved with this board? I thought it was just a bunch of peons living under the iron heel of the despot known as SkyDog! What is this FOF? What does it simulate? Sweet hot lovin? Because at this point that's as close as I'm going to get to the sweet-loving! So, sign me up for FrontOfficeBootyCall!!!

--side note...that might actually be a sweet game. Signal Jim's move towards more of a "Sims" style market. FrontOfficeBootyCal or FrontOfficePimp where you have to either manage your honey's or your ho's. Or is this just the sad rant of a pathetic little man?

FOF, if you really are not familiar with it, is really a "management" game -- where you main emphasis is on building your roster, and perhaps setting up the gameplan or calling the plays for your team. If your main interest is "playing" the games or even seeing them (like you could with the FB Pro line) then you'll be disappointed.

But if you like the idea of working trades, drafting rookies, signing free agents, and that sort of stuff -- I don't think there's anything that even compares to FOF 2004. It is *far* beyond the FB Pro sesies in all those regards, and will provide you with quite an immerisve and exciting gamine experience, I think.

Good luck, in any event.

sounds great

is the AI smart at end of games if they have a lead to run the ball, or if there behind they will pass more.? if behind will they go for it on 4th down near ends of games? etc......

Blackadar

Yes, the end-of-game is pretty smart but remember, you're not "playing" the game. You have the option of coaching, but you're not seeing nor directing the action on the field.

Yes, the stats are dead-on accurate. No 3000 yard rushers or 8,000 passing yards or any crap like that.

It really all depends on how you set the gameplan or how good your coach is.
I've messed up setting the gameplan in multi player and seen my team down by 20 in the 4th quarter run the ball 3 straight times.
As far as single player goes i'm not so sure, but if you're watching the game as it unfolds you can jump in and call your own plays.

do they have real nfl roster? and can you import real nfl rookies per year?
is there real nfl logos, helmet, stadium, etc too?

Warhammer

Yes and no regarding the NFL players. There are players based on NFL players. Also, the NFL logos and helmets can be found on the site here somewhere. I think in the sticky in the main forum has a link to the logos and helmets.

I understand, you like to take your time and learn about a game a little before you buy it, no prob.....
:p

On a more serious note though, what brought you and kept you here if it wasn't the game. Someone who had the game direct you to the board?

NFL Rosters- There are files you can import to start off in a particular year and there are draft files for subsequent seasons, so in essence yes, it's not a super duper system but it serves it's purpose well.

Logos & Pictures- This is where the game lacks a bit. You can import a tiny logo, but that's the extent of the graphics.

Stadiums- If you mean pictures of stadiums than no, if you mean building stadiums then yes, after 15 years of your stadium being in operation you can attempt to build a new one, if the city doesn't like the amount of money you ask them for to help you they will reject it and you then have the option of moving to a new city in the subsequent season.

FBPRo is still my #1 football game of all-time. I just loved watching my players run around on the field - and the game was so immersive.

Anyhow, FOF is a bit different, as it's all text.. with a hint of color and graphics.

v2004 is definitly the best version yet (imo) it's so much fun to play and create your own universe. It's the mecca of football sports sims.

Starting with a draft of fictional players is a great way to play..

is FOF2004 gameplan and depth easier to set than total pro football?

on fof2004 is there a way to know your opponent strength and weakness before you sim or do play by play so you can set up the gameplan?

thanks

You can view your opponents scouting report(summary of each starting position) and team summary which is a statistical overview of the teams. You can view these on any team in the league at any time.
