I vaguely remember an old thread where the married amongst you were discussing what games your wives enjoyed playing with you. I am thinking specifically PS2 here but am curious for general comments. A couple of searches failed to pull up the old thread, unfortunatley.

My fiancee was really excited when I brought my PS2 over the other night, but I think she was a bit flustered with the complexity of Madden and High Heat Baseball and the other sports related games I have, etc.

In the old days it'd be easy, we'd bust out Super Mario or Tetris on the old NES, but things have changed it seems.

My girlfriend enjoys occasionally playing NCAA2K3 basketball on my X-Box, but as much as I try I can't get her into Tiger Woods. She prefers games where she can just press buttons. With golf there are too many decisions to be made...

Ironically, my wife enjoys it when I push the button on her X-Box.

I bought Worms for us to play together, but we never really have much chance to play PC games together since she works days and I work nights.

Married 8 years and my wife enjoys when I'm out of her sight playing games. So, to answer your question: none.

Does Hide the Sausage II count? Wait a minute, scratch that. Does Take the Damn Garbage Out count?

We rented The Simpsons: Hit & Run and she played for a few hours each night...had to renew the rental twice before she ready to join the land of the living...

When I rented The Simpsons: Road Rage I tried to get my girl to play with me, but she got pissy cause I wouldn't let her win. I'm just too competitive for my own ddamn good...

I love you guys.

Everquest, that's about it. Too bad I can't stand the game anymore.

My wife likes to occasionally rent a game like Silent Hill or Resident Evil for us to play together. By "play together" I mean I play it while she sits back, shouts instructions, and berates me when I do something wrong*.

We've also had some fun with GTA and some of the cart racing games. We had Starsky and Hutch over the weekend, and it was actually much better than I expected.

*Which reminds me of something else, now that I think about it.

My wife usually prefers to play RTS games.. she hates playing turn based strategy games with me, so prefer to stick to games like Warcraft, Age of Empires, Rise of Nations, etc...

My fiancee is a recovering Civ III addict. And don't let her near Rollercoaster Tycoon.

So far We have played the Diablos(I&II), and Everquest together.

That is about it.

For PS2 I would suggest the last Tennis game sega made... I think it is Sega Tennis 2k2... My wife absolutley loved that game and sadly she dominated me at the game as well... If your wife likes tennis at all she will like this game... As I remember it had very few button commands to learn and my wife loved that...

Side note: My wife also loved Madden a few years ago ( I think it was on N64 ) when they had the "one button mode"... Again she kicked my tail at it b/c out of reflex I would try to press all of the usual buttons instead of the one button that did everything... I blame that on the fact that I could not use regular commands while she use the one button setup... I think she would still play madden with me if she could use that old one button mode (sadly they took it out - EA take out features syndrome)...

Outside of those two I haven't found many games she liked - mainly due to the complexity of the controls involved... She refuses to spend an hour or two learning the controls when we will only play a few times... And she is insanely competitive and can't stand to lose a few while learning the controls... (We have often gotten into heated Monopoly games when we are on vacation where we both refuse to conceed because we are so competitive) ;)

It's a PS1 game, but Crash Team Racing is a good choice. Or TimeSplitters 1 or 2. My non-video game playing friends and my wife all enjoyed playing this with me for a while.

What about quiz games like You Don't Know Jack?

SSX is a fun snowboarding game that I can get my non-video gaming friends to play as well.

Try as I might, nobody will even try Hot Shots Golf 3, which I think they'd really enjoy if they just gave it a chance.

My old roommate and his girlfriend liked to watch me play Silent Hill 2. When I moved in with my girlfriend, I ended up taping the last few hours of it for them to watch.

What about those Classic game collections by Activision? It can be easier to get them to play games that are simple and familiar.

The NBA Street games are not a bad option either.

My wife really enjoyed playing Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance for the PS2 as we could play together at the same time. Neither of us do well waiting to take turns with video games.

I girlfriend likes to play french maid. She thinks the suit makes my legs sexy.

me and the wife had a good run with Baldur's Gate. i was considering buying her/us a Gamecube because she said she used to play Mario Brothers type games when she was a kid, but the system sucks. hmmmm, maybe now that it's only $100 i'll get it for her as a Christmas gift. then again, that'd seem like one of those "this gift is for you but we both know i'll wind up using it more" gifts.

To truly answer the question, my wife and I really like playing the Spyro games on the PSOne together.

My wife really liked the Spyro games, but I could never get into them. Of course while she played them, it gave me the chance to play whatever I wanted to without being bothered :)

My wife finished Final Fantasy 2 (I think) on the Sega Genesis, but other than a brief obsession with "The Sims," nothing.

Mrs. Gawd and I played Diablo II together pretty heavily for a while. We had started to play NWN together, but her mother's terminal illness has pretty much put our lives on hold at the moment.

In the past, we've shared an interest in The Sims, RollerCoaster Tycoon, Sim City 4 (and previous iterations), Imperialism, and Civ I/II (haven't got Civ III yet, I'm waiting until the Gold Edition hits the shelves).

on the serious side, with the little one (3.833 years old now), jobs, and a new house, we have little time to do anything. Which is why I like coming to work so I can relax and read this board.
