what a stupid stupid penalty.
It basically turned the game for Arkansas against Alabama!!
It was in the 2nd OT, c'mon the kids made a heck of interception, only to be thrown an negitive penalty on them.
Bama was up 31-10 there is no excuse for letting a team comeback like that and win, especially in your home stadium.
Got to give to ol' Nutt, he is a lucky scoundral if I ever saw one, the Hogs played a good game, they never gave up.
But the celebration penalty turned the game for BAMA.
...and they say officials don't control the outcome of a game....THEY JUST DID TODAY!!

I agree. They're playing a game, let the kids have some fun. It was nothing harmful or taunting IMO.

They can celebrate all they want on the sideline, off the field. The rule has always been there so it's not like it was something they don't know about.

No they didn't. Bama controled the outcome of the game by messing up and celebrating like Hell when it's against the rules.

All they had to do was go to the sideline and they could have danced all around and piled on top of each other for 5 or 10 minutes. They showed a complete lack of discipline by doing it on the field. It is a coaching problem.

Yeah, I agree 100% with the no-celebrating clause. Everyone knows about it, its been around forever, so I agree with the above posters in that they are morons for not keeping their emotion in tact for 10 seconds until they made it to the sidelines.

Teknik and Phillie, you are right.
I was just venting a little but I guess.
I feel better this morning...

I usually hate the rule, but being an Arkansas fan I loved it yesterday. I think that gave Arkansas a big advantage, but Alabama still only had to make a 39 yard field goal to win. Last year Arkansas got that called against them in their miraculous win against LSU. They had to make a 35 yard extra point to win it.

Don't blame the officials for enforcing a rule that is questionable. Was it just the players who played in the play celebrating on the field, or did teammates run in from the sideline to join in? The latter should be a big penalty. Besides, if the play had won the game for them, the penalty would not have been called, and Bama definitely had no cause to go that nuts until the game was won.
Also, that penalty did not even decide the game. Bama gained the yards back from the penalty, getting to the 21 yard line, and then they missed a kick. If they had not had the penalty called, they would have played for a FG anyway, not likely getting much closer than the 20, and had a similar attempt to win.
