Its back, and it hasnt lost its charm, or has it?
The Sequel to one of the hottest titles for the PS2 has made its way over to the PC finally. Lets take a look at this game and what you can expect!
This game is set in the 80's, apparently after the first game. At least that is what I make of it, someone might correct me their. It is alot like the first game on the surface but some changes have been made.
1. You can buy buildings
This is a cool feature. I like the idea of being able to buy different garages, and save points. I just wish that they put more thought into where those were at. some areas are negelected. You can also buy businesses, this adds depth to the game, and provides more side missions.
2. You can enter alot more places. This also is a needed feature, and hopefully GTA4 will really expand on this.
3. You can ride motorcycles. Arguably one of the coolest features in the game. I loved riding the bikes in GTA, and now they are back
4. You can fly helicopters. I havent flown a real one yet, so I cannot comment on this part.
The game is still pretty linear, however I think there alot more side missions in this game and a few less plot missions. Also I think this game is definately harder than GTA3. That is a good thing, because GTA3 was a bit easy for me to complete the main story. Albeit it can get frustrating having to spend all that time going too the gun shop and buying stuff.
I think all game designers should look at this game and GTA3 and see how they do missions. Even thought there is a limited number of types of missions: Escort, Kill, Retrieve Item and Race. You dont feel like your doing the same things over and over.
The sounds are nicely done. I especially enjoy the sounds you make when running over someone. I dont care much for the radio stations though, Im not a big fan of 80's music, but the commercials and talk radio are good in this game too.
Overall I give this game a 95%
It lost a few points in the music category, but only because of my taste in music. I also took a point or two away, because this even thought its a different time period, it still feels an awful lot like GTA3.
I would recoomend this game too anyone that enjoyed GTA3. However if you didnt really get into GTA3 I would reccomend just renting this game.
