I'm a huge Letang fan (and homer). He's got ridiculous tools. But his injuries scare me. And, for lack of a better word, he's dumb. I pray to God that with Jacques Martin as an assistant this year, he can really help him become a smarter player.

I think Letang was the right choice. Subban has to prove he can perform at that offensive level consistently. Now if this were about who's the better defenseman... Subban would win in my book hands down.

He's actually pretty awful on the PP. Part of it is deferring to 87 and 71 too much. The other part is the "dumbness" factor. Skill wise, he's right there, IMO, with Karlsson, Weber, Subban. But with that much talent, why is he such a cluster on the PP? He could be a point per game guy on that team. But he's "only" a 50-60 point guy currently.

Rask was an easy choice, but it came down to Quick versus Crawford for the second spot. I am hoping I made the right choice. I believe Quick is actually the better goaltender, but Crawford is going to get more wins. It came down to going with the guy who has no real backup (so Quick plays a ton).

Haha yeah. I don't know much about Raanta, but I don't even know the Kings' backup G off of the top of my head, now that Bernier has taken his boxing gloves to Toronto. Even when Bernier was here in LA, Quick was a bit of an ironman.

I think if SR as League Manager sets it up as a keeper league (I'm assuming this is an option in hockey, it is in football), he can input the rosters to where we are in the thread at that point and then proceed from there. Anyone who cant make whatever time it's scheduled for can pre-rank or just let the CPU go.

One other small side benefit, if SR does update the draft list on ESPN every round or whatever, is as we get deeper into the draft we would be able to go onto the league site and see a semi up-to-date list of available players. I imagine with all this being done in this thread, there's a good chance we'll have some people (coughmecough) try to select guys that have already been taken, but they forgot to cross them off whatever list they're working off of.

I formally request that if we do a draft it be on Sunday instead of Monday (unless it's late Monday night) - should be easier to get people together on a sunday night?

Kris Letang out with lower-body injury. Will not skate rest of weekend & will be re-evaluated back in Pittsburgh, per coach Bylsma

Bylsma unsure on whether Letang's lower-body injury will be short-term or extended until his re-evaluation.

They are on a "team bonding" trip at West Point (they did this previous in 2008 and 2009). They've been skating, in addition to off ice training. He left the ice today after going into the boards.

Best guess is ankle, which hopefully it's a precautionary thing, and not the 2 months Crosby missed in 2009 when doing the same thing.

Believe me, I want him to be healthy and do well.

He's the one guy we have no replacement for. One of Crosby/Malkin out, you still have the other. And you have enough solid wingers in Neal, Kunitz, Dupuis to ease the replacement into the top 6.

Outside of Erik Karlsson, I don't think anyone transitions from D to O like Letang. As many times as people say he benefits from playing behind Crosby and Malkin, and of course he does, anyone would...those 2 benefit from playing with him. He regularly tracks guys down, picks the puck, and snaps a pass blue line to blue line to 87 or 71.

I don't think yahoo lets you do defensive points, that's the thing. I don't mind doing it on espn still, just have to do it as a full offline draft with everything inputted and it should be fine.

sposfan just made it back. a two hour drive took FOUR FREAKING HOURS. Not even a good accident, just construction. Gotta love when you don't move for 30 minutes and then stop and go for another hour and then it just suddenly clears up and there's nothing....

That sucks for Jon, and I hate to say it, but that's why we need the two hour limit. Whoever is after Jon should feel free to make his choice, and we go on. And when Jon has a chance to post his picks to catch up, he can.

Actually, I think two hours is what was suggested, but not sure. Did we settle on a time limit? We definitely need this to keep going.

I'm next up and could make my pick, but Jon is going to be screwed if it starts a run. Skipping his pick is actually skipping 2 picks as he has two in a row. By the end of round 9 and into 10, he could well have 4 picks in a row if we skip him now.

Everyone should know by now that we are looking at a time limit, so people should be prepared to get in a list daily, or just send in like 50 players.

I've got no problem having lists in reserve. I know I'm off and on during the day, and if my turn passes, i have no issue either being skipped or going by a list.

I'm cool with being the keeper of lists. However, I can't access anything labeled "fantasy" at work, so if someone's list is all drafted, kind of stuck.

I'd prefer up to about 10 names on a list, because there's a solid chance most of the names will be gone by the next pick.

The 2 hour time limit should be set during certain hours.

And not everyone has access to a computer starting at 5:30 AM, which is what you're suggesting we do for the west coasters.

I would suggest 10 AM to 12 AM, eastern time, with no prohibition on making the pick if you know who it is outside those hours. If you miss your 2 hour window, next highest person in the list.

10am to 12pm sounds good to me.

I would add that if someone gives commish privileges, I can add the picks made till now tonight.

(or tomorrow afternoon tomorrow presuming shutdown)

From what I can see on ESPN, it seems to suggest that it's best to add all of the players at once instead of trying to assign rosters. I'm not sure I want to mess with it after what happened before.

And I think once we get to Saturday/Sunday maybe we should do a 1 hour time limit depending on how fast we're going? Otherwise we're gonna be starting week 3
