So, in around 8 hours, My fiance and I are leaving the Islands of Hawaii behind and moving to Vegas! It's going to be a huge change, in every possible way. I think it will be very positive no matter what. I've lived in Hawaii my whole life and I am 27 years old. It's time to see some of what the mainland has to offer. Wish me luck, and I'll be around. :)

(and when I make my millions on the poker tables, I shall forget no one!)

Good luck man. Just think...brown and tan with a bunch of blinking multi colored lights...and that's Vegas.

You guys already found work or will that be something you will start to look for once you get to Vegas?

Let us know when your feet are firmly planted on the mainland.

unfortunately no work lined up, little crazy but we have quite a large nest egg saved up, and are aware of quite a long wait for work sometimes in Vegas at the moment. We will be alright, otherwise we wouldn't be doing it. I'm pretty damn excited. Moving sucks and is stressful but excitement and adrenaline is making it worth it.

Are you thinking of the Starlight Starbright trailer park by any chance?

You need to hook up with Schmidty while you're there!

Hawaii to Belligham to Vegas confuses me. Wouldn't a connection in SoCal have been easier?

Let me guess. They put you on a flight to Las Vegas New Mexico?

hawaii to bellingham to vegas makes no sense to me either. our flight out of HNL had mechanical issues (scary right?) and they threw us on this flight man. Its crazy. And we are traveling with our 3 cats. I almost lost it last nite after being at the check in counter for 5 hours.

I started working in my wife last year when we went to Vegas for our 10th anniversary. I would really like to retire in Vegas and deal Blackjack into my old age.

She's afraid I'll play more than I deal. :D

Would love to hear some of your poker experiences. I play anytime I'm in town, but haven't been in for a year or so.

Yea I definitely think I'm gonna dynasty and see what happens. I have a decent sized bankroll saved up. I played a lot Online before the boom, but live is a different story for me. Just smallish home type games in Hawaii ya know. I've played a few 100 + person tourneys live but still a home type setting. I have never played in a casino. So it will definitely be interesting. right around the big boom I played to support my self for a little over a year online. It was crazy at the time but it worked out.

Gook Luck, bro! There are hundreds of thousands of empty houses in Las Vegas, so just squat in one for a year then claim the deed. Cheap housing!

well...so far so good. or not so bad at least.

1 - I guess I'm glad we moved around this time of the year, everyone keeps telling me the summer will be killer hot. I'm sure it will be but so far we've had 1 - 2 99-100 degree days and honestly coming from Hawaii it's not hot at all , at least to me. Hawaii has killer humidity, Vegas has pretty much none. So even @ 80-85 degrees in Hawaii, its way way hotter and makes you sweat something awful. Here so far, haven't felt it , so I love it! I'm sure I'll be hating the 110-115 days though :/

2 - Poker going decent, up around 1200, but small sample size. maybe put in 26 hours @ the tables, 90% of that @ mgm where the games seem fairly soft to me. I really want to track my VPIP and BB/100 but I've been playing my game of TAG (tight - aggressive) probably only been seeing around 30% of the flops. Seems the majority of people that play here are pretty damn loose though.

3 - We decided to stay at my Fiance's Cousins house for the next few months to save $. I guess we are pretty much deciding within the next 10-12 months to buy a house in this down market. Amazing (at least to me) how homes (and honestly everything compared to Hawaii) are/is so dirt cheap here right now.

October isn't summer. Now June, and esp. July and August will be another story. That's when you'll get hit by those 110-115 days.

Edit: And yes, now is the perfect time to buy housing in LV. Prices are fantastic for buying.

Should definitely buy a house. The market for buying there is unreal right now. You'll do extremely well over the long haul.
