Thank you mom. You gave me everything I ever wanted. You spoiled me to death. Literally, you did everything for me as I grew up. You paid for my college, you paid for me to go party with my friends. You paid for me to have fun.

You gave me a reason to think I should be entitled to everything, yet you taught me that I should never feel entitled to anything. You showed me how staying loyal to a company and working hard really does provide rewards.

I look at my peers, and know that out of all of them I should be the one that feels like the world should be given to me since you gave it to me, and yet I know that I deserve nothing that I didn't work for.

You give me everything in the world. I know I didn't work for it, I know I don't deserve it. Sometimes I don't show it, but everyday I thank God that I have a mother like you that has given me so much; that has taught me the value of a dollar; that has shown me that working hard really does pay off. I love you mom, I can never thank you enough for making me the person I am today.

That's a letter I wrote to my mom in her mother's day card. She beat breast cancer last year, and I thought she deserved to know what an impact she really had on my life.

"Some mothers are kissing mothers and some are scolding mothers, but it is
love just the same, and most mothers kiss and scold together." ~Pearl
S. Buck

Mom, thank you for the kissing my skinned knees whenever I fell. Thank you for swats on the bottom for when I misbehaved. Thank you for your personal sacrifice to make sure that my brothers and I had a stable home life. Happy Mothers Day.

What is a Mother?

You created me, Mom
so I guess you're to blame
For the love that I feel
just from hearing your name.
You're as tender as corned beef
and warm as pastrami...

I love my Mommy!

Thanks. I was just fresh off reading this from wikipedia before stopping here:

In 1912, Anna Jarvis trademarked the phrases "second Sunday in May" and "Mother's Day", and created the Mother's Day International Association.[3][4]
"She was specific about the location of the apostrophe; it was to be a singular possessive, for each family to honour their mother, not a plural possessive commemorating all mothers in the world."[3]

So stop wishing a happy mother's day to mothers that aren't your own, I guess.

Mom,

You love me unconditionally. When you walked in on me in my underwear with my finger up my nose you laughed instead of repelling at the quite honestly rather revolting site.

You went to work every morning at 5am for me. You don't hate me despite the fact that I took advantage of that fact and barely went to school and caused you so many more headaches than I was probably worth.

When you tried to get me help and set my ass straight I wasn't very nice to you. For that I am immeasurably sorry.

When I finally started to be a contributing human being and help you out I was 30 years old, long past the point that most parents would have given up. You were proud of me, and though you would have loved me either way, nothing can compare to the happiness I felt knowing that I had finally done right by you.

I love you mom.
