OK, I've been secretly working on a new version 1.31 patch for about 5 days now and have it uploaded to the server. I did some testing on it last night and today and it seems pretty solid. I've run numerous seasons and it seems stable, but it is a BETA. So, make sure you keep a backup of 1.30 incase you run into any problems.

First, in order to upgrade, make sure that you have version 1.30 currently installed. If you do, simply download this zip file:

http://400studios1.inetu.net/files/tdcb/tdbeta131.zip

Then, copy the TD.EXE over your current version and play.

------------------------------
Here's a list of the fixes:

1. Called timeouts should be recognized much faster now. Even if they are called in the middle of a possession, it shouldn't take too long for the TO to be called if you initiate it.

2. If you click for a three to be taken, you should see your team take a three much more frequently in the following possession than in 1.30.

3. The game does not allow users to redshirt players entering their senior seasons. Not only is this extremely rare in real life, but it caused a few problems that could impact game's stability. So, if you try to redshirt a player like this, you will get a message from the player saying he declines the offer to redshirt.

4. The CPU will not change defenses on you after you make your off/def set changes in timeouts. The current order is the CPU changes Def, the user changes Off and Def sets, the CPU then changes its offensive set to match the user change on D. Players can also make set changes on the fly (with the CPU responding to user defensive changes).

5. Post scoring has been much improved. Talented PFs and Centers should be able to average in the 15-22 point range if coached correctly. This was very difficult to do in 1.30.

6. Setting a player to be a scorer has a more direct impact than in 1.30. This isn't always a good thing as the player will try to score more often than normal. Sometimes this means more points, but for some players this could just mean more missed shots.

7. The Play By Play and Simulated game engines should not have the stat differences that were in 1.30. You should not notice any major differences if the game is simmed or played (outside of normal coaching factors). So, simmed games should not have lower overall stats and a higher FG% like in 1.30.

8. The engine has been changed to decrease the % of made 2 pointers, increase the % of made threes, modify the foul and turnover logic to be more in tune with talent levels and decrease the chance of "wierd" results (high FG%, low TO, lose by 30...). The engine is much more statistically sound from a % standpoint (FG, 3s, FT) and it should be better from a foul and rebound standpoint as well. The only caveat is that in order to get this improved overall accuracy, the scoring has gone up about 1.5 PPG. In 1.30, my tests showed an average score of 73 PPG. In 1.31, it is closer to 75 PPG, and you may see a couple teams average 89-91 PPG. Again, one thing I tried to do here is make it possible to average in the low 90s if you have the talent and gameplan. While this hasn't been real popular in the past 2-3 seasons, there have been numerous teams averaging 92-93 PPG in real life over the past 8-10 years. In 1.30, this was almost impossible.

9. All assistants do not go to Appalacian State anymore for head coaching spots. There was a bug that caused this to happen in version 1.30, but there is much more variety in the new coaching spots for assistants in 1.31.

10. The shot clock should not reset on blocked shots now.

11. Teams should also rest their players slightly more in blowout situations.

I tried to address most of the complaints/suggestions offered in the forums in this patch. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Arlie

.400 Studios does one heck of a job patching their games.

Thanks Arlie,

They didnt even fix the multiplayer issues. In the league I am in, we can't even import scouting services.

Some good stuff in there, glad to see the Post players might just be fixed. The timeouts being quicker is a great thing also, as is the Computer not auto-switching it's D psychically when you make a change.

Now I should overall be pretty happy with it, the only thing that bugs me now is the way the polls work, that seems all jacked up to me.

Guess I'll give this a DL and see how it is.

We'll be looking at the multi-player issues after the engine fixes are done. But we are aware of the problem reports. If you have issues that aren't reported on our forums with multi-player please add them there.

Slightly off topic, but...

Has anyone actually been fired or moved jobs in TDCB? Does one of your assistants replace you if so?
