Anyone have a full game review?

Demo reviews were o.k...but i'd like to hear some opinions of people who have received the full game.

Have you checked the SI boards? It is a lot of fun watching the Britts trying to figure out the MLS. "What's a draft?" Classic.

well, i have played it for about 6 or 7 hours so far and i would lavish it with superlatives if only i knew what one of those was.

currently i am managing burton albion in the conference and it is a real battle (and i am a veteran of champ of 10+ years so i am no wet behind the ears chump), although i have gotten through to the 4th round of the FA Cup with a bit of grit and some great performances. there are a few niggles here and there (i would love the "right click = back" feature in OOTP to exist in CM), my team has a lot of injuries but that might just be bad luck. i don't notice speed to be an issue - i am running the entire english league, plus the top division of 5 major european leagues on low detail. i have a 1.4GHz CPU and 512MB of RAM, and it doesn't seem too slow. i have played about half a year in 6-7 hours which from past experience is what i would expect from the CM these days.

the last version i had was 00/01 and it is defnitely an upgrade over that though not a giant leap forward. the 2d match highlights are a huge addition (i feel much more involved, ready to cheer every goal and swear loudly at every mistake) and the player intercourse, sorry, interaction just gets better and better. it's options and depth once again makes OOTP look like a kids game, CM is just so far ahead in the immersion stakes it's unreal.

basically - CM4 is good ole championship manager, but better than it was before, it's difficult to know what else to say really! if you have any specific questions i can try and answer them for you.

go start harrassing the postman for this game every day, it's a stunner.

i think this screen grab from my current career sums up the depth of CM4 rather well:

Ouch, about MLS, I gave a little help to the French Translator explaining him the draft concept and things like that but the translation could have been the same with a translation software :D

we'll have to rework that (even if there are probably very few french speaking players playing the MLS, probably a few Canadians).

BTW, just received my free copy of CM4 today :)

Wow. I haven't seen anything along those lines yet, but I did get into a long-running discussion with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink about whether Chelsea were under-achieving or not. I'm having a bit of trouble finding an effective, consistent tactic. Wingers seem to be much more effective in CM4 than in previous versions, so the narrow formations that worked so well before don't seem to be such a good idea. On the other hand, most of the stuff I tried with Chelsea eventually seemed to devolve into trying to knock the ball over the defense from a distance and hoping a striker would get on it. That won me the League Cup, but it also got me several month-long goal droughts.

I just picked up my copy (in the UK on holiday) but I won't get to play it till I get home. I also picked up the Prima guide, which has short blurbs on each English team from the Premier to the Conference and their board expectations, debts, etc. Handy if you want to give yourself a challenge, or an easy team. If anyone's interested in knowing some of that, I'll post some when I get home (tuesday)

Just looking at it, it looks amazing.
